The Shield is Not Mightier Than This Cross #SuperPen

Cross pens have been a pen that I have relied on for years because they have been pens that I knew that I could count on no matter what. You see, I take a lot of notes, and on to do that I definitely try to have a good pen with me at all times. The pen for me is mightier than the sword as it allows me to capture ideas, and more when I really need to do this.

I have to say that I was completely stoked when I heard that Cross was coming out with some Super Pens with some superheroes attached to them in celebration of Captain America: Civil War. As a HUGE fan of The Avengers and as someone that is Team Cap all the way, you can bet which team I chose when it came to finding the #WriteGift for me!

This Cross Pen not only looked great but it also came with a very cool collectible card too!

The pens are available in two styles. First the brand’s evolutionary Century II series finished in a high-gloss lacquer and includes a collectible, character-specific romance card (MSRP $150 USD.) And the second is the Tech2 series, which transforms from a ballpoint pen to a stylus in a flash (MSRP $45 USD.) Both styles endow users with the “superpower” of expression via a fine writing instrument.

While this is not the typical Cross pen, this pen is definitely my new go to writing instrument of choice. Best of all are the compliments that I get, as it is a real conversation starter (Who needs ice breakers when you have a pen like this)!

If you are looking for a unique fathers day gift that will keep giving for years to come this Cross Pen is the perfect gift!!

Be a Backyard Superhero Essay Contest Open, Enter by April 13!
Children in grades K-5 have the power to improve the outdoor green spaces at their schools by participating in the “Be a Backyard Superhero” essay contest with Scholastic. They can enter the contest by writing and illustrating a story.

The contest is part of the TurfMutt environmental stewardship and education program – where children learn they can be backyard superheroes by taking care of green spaces, inspired by TurfMutt and his friends, the Outdoor Powers. The program is funded and managed by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute’s (OPEI) Research and Education Foundation.

Teachers and parents may submit their students’ or children’s essays and illustrations online. In 150–200 words, students in grades K-5 will describe how they are “Backyard Superheroes” and, along with TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers, combat the environmental villains (Carbon Creep, Dust Demon, Dr. Runoff, and Heat Freak). Students will draw pictures of their missions and attach the character cutouts to their drawings.

Two Grand Prize-winning schools will win $5,000 to improve outdoor green spaces.

Learn more about the contest: http://www.scholastic.com/turfmutt/contest/

A Birthday Poem For My Wife #dadchat

October 10, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

When I was younger I used to write poems all of the time. As I have gotten older, I ave had much less time to be creative like this and take the time to develop this further. In honor of my wife’s birthday tomorrow, I put my mind and creative juices to the test and wrote the below poem for her in honor of her birthday (and yes honey, I know that you hate being cold!)!

Chaotic Beauty

White

swirling specks of uniqueness

one lands gently on my finger

cold invades its’ touch

and for a moment I am transfixed

beauty under review

nature’s magestic wonder

in a moment it is gone

its’ beauty only a memory

until another falls softly

where the last once lay

I stare open-eyed as a child

taking it all in

and I am lost in the moment
