#ISleepTo Be The Best Dad I Can Be And Completely Balance My Life

April 20, 2017 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

The new Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor which gives me a closer look at the things keeping me up at night and offers me personalized, easy-to-implement insights to help me make the most of my time asleep.

I have partnered with Life of Dad and Beautyrest Brand for this campaign, but my opinions are my own.

I am not the best when it comes to sleep. I at times do work too late into the night and finding balance between personal and professional life sometimes is challenging. I know that sleep is SO important but I have a hard time getting into the routine where I feel like I can get enough and still get everything done.

Recently, I heard about the new Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor from their #ISleepTo Campaign and I was impressed that this tracker gives me a closer look at the things keeping me up at night and offers me personalized, easy-to-implement insights to help me make the most of my time asleep. With the issues that I have had with sleep in the past this monitor sounded like the perfect solution that would allow me to gain some insights into myself while also encouraging and challenging me to get better sleep too.

There are other types of monitors out there that you actually wear at night, but for me this is the biggest issue with them. Unlike wearables, the Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor is completely non-invasive and plugs directly into a wall outlet.

The new Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor which gives me a closer look at the things keeping me up at night and offers me personalized, easy-to-implement insights to help me make the most of my time asleep.

This difference is amazing and allows me to get data and insights about my sleep quality without feeling completely tethered to a wearable device. The results that I received thus far since using the Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor have been so helpful. The product is already giving me a better understanding of how my daily habits affect my sleep. The Beautyrest Sleeptracker monitor also challenges you to set goals and work to make small changes to get into a new routine and work on making small changes to feel better each day.

I have to say that I am loving waking up every morning and seeing what I can learn next about my own sleep. Most of the time I am surprised by what I find as I may think I am getting good sleep and sometimes I am and sometimes I am not.

The more I think about the results that I’m seeing since using this product, the greater my understanding has been for Beautyrest’s #ISleepTo campaign. Quality sleep is so important when you need to perform your best every day. When I think about the reasons I need great quality sleep there are a few things that come to mind:

  • #ISleepTo find balance in my life
  • #ISleepTo be present for my family, for my work, and for my life
  • #ISleepTo be rested and ready to be able to be the most productive I can be
  • #ISleepTo show my kids the importance of a balanced life
  • #ISleepTo have the energy to get up ready for a strong workout every morning

From Fat to Fit – A Guide To Healthy Lifestyle Options

April 22, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Being overweight is often a result of vicious circles of behaviors. Stress at work or home leads to unhealthy comfort eating of sweet, salty and fatty foods, which leads to extra weight, which leads to loss of self esteem, motivation and energy, which leads to stress and so on. Breaking such cycles is hard, but essentially it’s all down to two healthy things – exercise and diet.

Let’s start with diet. The important issue here is not just losing weight, but maintaining long term healthy eating habits. It is important to get good professional advice on the specific diet you are considering, but generally speaking eating healthily should involve:

fruits-and-vegetables

  1. Lots of fruit and vegetables (the standard recommendation is 5 a day).
  2. Not much sugar or saturated fat, so cut down on cakes, biscuits, sausages, cream, fizzy drinks and pies. Eat more oily fish, reduced fat spreads and, if you must snack, choose fruit or raw carrot.
  3. Pasta, cereals, bread and rice! Surprisingly, these carbohydrates are perfectly acceptable in a balanced diet, as long as you watch portion sizes. Preferably, switch to whole grain varieties for the fiber.

So now you’re getting healthy by eating well, what about exercise? In the beginning, take it in small steps. Try getting healthy by getting off the bus a stop early, parking in the furthest corner of the car park or simply choose to take the stairs. These simple measures will all burn extra calories and bring back motivation.

Once you have eased yourself in, there are several other healthy options. Many people find gym membership helpful while others are concerned about the atmosphere being competitive or judgemental. If this is the case for you, why not invest in your own fitness equipment, whether it’s a treadmill, exercise bike or free weights? Equipment does vary in its cost, what it is designed to achieve and even how easy it is to set up and use.

If you don’t fancy the hi-tech healthy option then there is always swimming. This exercise is low impact, so ideal for anyone overweight. It uses all your main muscle groups, is great for toning the whole body, and is capable of burning up to 700 calories per hour. You don’t even need to be a proficient swimmer as all strokes will provide the benefits.

Make a start on healthy eating and a manageable exercise regime today – you have nothing to lose but the pounds.

What is your @ShareCareNow RealAge Test #RealAge

June 20, 2014 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

Seeing that I am less than a year away from hitting the big 40 I have really been trying to do what I can to be healthy. Eating right, exercising and working on my overall well-being has been more of a concern than it has ever been in the past.

Over the past few weeks I have really been working hard on working out daily and trying to limit going out for lunch, but I know there are probably other things that I can be doing to help me not only have more energy, but also increase my chances at prolonging my life too.

I recently was told about the RealAge Test and I was interested in seeing what it would share with me. I decided to try out the Share Care Now RealAge Test to see how old it said I was for myself.

The test was easy to answer and not too intrusive on my privacy. It took about 15 minutes in all and the overall results were interesting. It said that I was about 4.7 years younger than I am. The best part of the results was that it gives you ideas for where you are doing well, where you are not, and things that are making you younger and things that are making you older.

RealAge-Test

I encourage you to take the RealAge Test and see how old you really are.
