4 Storage Solutions for When Your Clutter Is Taking Over Your House

July 6, 2020 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Storage is one of those funny aspects of life that you simply can’t seem to find enough of. Even if you moved into your house partially because of all the storage that it appeared to have available, chances are that over time you will have filled all closets and cupboards to the brim. Eventually, you are forced to seek out new storage solutions or risk your house becoming overrun by clutter.

If you are currently on the hunt for more storage in your home, here are four solutions to consider for storing your clutter.

1. Rent a Storage Unit

When your house doesn’t have enough storage to accommodate all your belongings, sometimes it is necessary to take your belongings out of your house. This isn’t to say that you need to get rid of items that you would rather not part with. Instead, rent a storage unit nearby so that the items that you only use seasonally, or that don’t quite have a place at your house, can remain safe and secure.

There is no need to be concerned about the cost of renting a unit, either, as most reliable storage companies are reasonably priced. Check out https://www.storagearea.com/self-storage.html for more information.

2. Invest in Hidden Storage

If your closets and cabinets are all filled up, another interesting storage solution is to upgrade your furniture to pieces that have built-in storage. For instance, ottomans that open from the top have become incredibly popular as ideal places to store extra blankets or books in the living room.

You can also find platform beds that lift open to reveal extra storage underneath the mattress. These pieces might be a bit more expensive, but they are well worth the cost in order to have extra storage.

3. Hang Kitchen Utensils

One room in your house that is very likely suffering from being over-cluttered is the kitchen. Utensils, pots, pans, and plates all need places to live. Most people crowd their drawers and cabinets with these items and end up having them spill out every time a door is opened. Why not get creative and hang some of them under cabinets or along the walls? This way, these common kitchen items can double as fashionable décor. Just be sure to keep the utensils orderly and coordinated to flawlessly pull off this look.

4. Fill Up the Garage Walls

You can carry the same principle of hanging items in the kitchen into the garage as well. As another space in your home that tends to become the dumping ground for unwanted items, your garage can become cluttered and fill up very quickly. Instead of leaving garden tools and other equipment lying around in piles, try organizing them along the walls using heavy-duty hooks.

Consider, also, installing some open shelving in the garage for items such as paint cans and bug sprays. Such items should generally be kept out of the reach of children anyway, so this is an organized way of keeping them safe and up high.
