Nordgreen Watches – Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

May 27, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

The Nordgreen mission is to create classic Scandinavian designs for watches that truly meet the bar set by other famous Scandinavian designers (but without the price-tag).

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

Jakob Wagner, the well known watch designer who has worked with Bang & Olufsen, Hay, Muuto, and many more is also behind the Nordgreen watches.

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

The Philosopher is the watch that I was able to review for myself. This Nordgreen watch is designed to be an instrument of time, and it celebrates the ability to think differently. The shape of the case is conical, with a base wider than its face, creating a sharp characteristic two-piece dial that brings us hurtling through time to this moment now. The watch case has an elevated, and clean brushed look because of the way that the lugs tug under it. The asymmetric second hand that appears to continuously slice through time reminds us to learn from the past, act now, and create a better future.

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

One of the other unique things with the Nordgreen watches is that all of our straps come with a “quick-release” function, allowing you to change the look of your watch within a matter of seconds. And best of all, no tools are needed. This means then that you can have different straps that will completely change the look and feel of the watch itself.

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

Another great things is that a Nordgreen owner can enter their watch’s serial number and identification number on their Giving Back Program page, learn about the three causes that they contribute to, and then choose the cause that they believe in the most. A watch can contribute to saving 200 ft² of rainforest in Latin America, provide one month of clean water to a person in the Central African Republic, or provide two months of education to a child in India. This is because they’ve partnered with these three NGOs to give back; Cool Earth, Water for Good, and Pratham UK

Nordgreen Watches - Superior Quality Timepieces For All!

Below I have shared more of my thoughts on Nordgreen Watches

Finding The Right Costume With A Morphsuit This Halloween

October 28, 2016 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Halloween is coming soon and I had been looking for the perfect costume and this year Morphsuit came to the rescue. You might remember that I had tried out a Morphsuit in the past and again I tried out two different costumes to make my final decisions!

I always agonize to what I will be for Halloween and this year we actually were invited to a number of Halloween parties so having a cool costume was important.

I looked around a bit, but then stumbled across the Morphsuit website again and decided to try out two costumes for myself to see if one would work better than the other.

sam_5194 sam_5195 sam_5196 sam_5197 sam_5198

The first I tried got me ready for the holidays while bringing out my love for the movie Elf. Yes, you guessed it, an elf morphsuit! This costume reminded me completely of Buddy the Elf and when I put it on it looked great! I do not know if everyone would appreciate the costume as much as I did, but it was a ton of fun!

sam_5192 sam_5191 sam_5190

The second costume that I tried out was one of my favorite superheroes. While this hero can walk up walls, I cannot say that the costume allowed me to be this. However, the Spiderman Morphsuit was so realistic and really was true to the actual original Spiderman red and blue costume. For me, after seeing myself in this, I was sold.

What do you think? Did I make the right choice? Would you have chosen different?

Also, what are you being for Halloween this year?

If you have never tried out a Morphsuit yourself, you definitely should!!

About the Playmobil Space Rocket Station

Count down to liftoff aboard the Space Rocket with Launch Site.  Outfitted with working lights and sounds, this rocket is mission-ready.  Use the movable maintenance platform to help the space technicians inspect the rocket prior to launch.  With the help of the repair robot, they can make sure that everything is in tip-top shape for the next space mission.  Set includes two figures, rocket, launch structure, satellite, repair robot, mechanical tools, computer, and tons of other accessories. Batteries not included.

Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site

My daughter is a HUGE fan of Playmobil and the new Playmobil Rocket Station really allowed her to set her thoughts on the stars by creating a part of her world that now can go skyward. As in other Playmobil sets, there are so many intricate details that are included in this set. Playmobil has left nothing to chance including working retractable arms on the platform, computers that can be brought with the characters and more.

Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site

You even have the ability to go on side missions when you get to space with the capsule that connects to the top of the rocket. You can jettison a satellite into space or even bring up a lunar robot that can check out the surface of another planet.

Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site Playmobil Space Rocket with Launch Site

Fitted with working lights and sounds this rocket is ready to send your child’s imagination skyward as it did for my daughter too. I also appreciated that there was another set, the space shuttle that, if purchased can connect to the rocket itself allowing it to get to space too!

Homeland: Season 4 Bluay Review

September 22, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Homeland-4th-Season
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

While I was late to watching the earlier seasons of Homeland, I did binge watch the first three season earlier this summer. For me, this was the type of series that once you start you do not want to stop! This season is so action packed and each episode is a thrill ride full of suspense and drama as well. The actors in the cast have a great chemistry together and I, for one, love how well Claire Danes plays the main character in the show, Carrie Mathison. What is great about her portrayal of the character is that she shows that she is flawed, and that is ok. So get ready for twists and turns in this season, as it was a non-stop and fun season!

About Homeland Season Four

Gripping suspense escalates to a fever pitch in the brilliantly reinvented fourth season of this Emmy Award-winning thriller. In her new role as a CIA station chief, Carrie (Emmy winner Claire Danes) convinces Saul (Emmy nominee Mandy Patinkin) and Quinn to help her hunt down one of the world’s most dangerous terrorists. But when Carrie recruits a young Pakistani as an asset, the lines between right and wrong blur and the operation spins out of control. Facing unclear loyalties at every turn, Carrie must take extreme measures and risk everything to protect her country.

Characters in Homeland Season 4

  • Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), a CIA intelligence officer assigned to the Counterterrorism Center
  • Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), former CIA’s Middle-East Division Chief and interim Director, and Carrie’s old boss and mentor
  • Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend), a CIA SAD/SOG (black ops) operative
  • Fara Sherazi (Nazanin Boniadi), an intelligent, young, and professional Persian analyst
  • Martha Boyd (Laila Robins), the US ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts), the new director of the CIA

Episodes Included:

  1. The Drone Queen
  2. Trylon and Perisphere
  3. Shalwar Kameez
  4. Iron in the Fire
  5. About a Boy
  6. From A to B and Back Again
  7. Redux
  8. Halfway to a Donut
  9. There’s Something Else Going On
  10. 13 Hours in Islamabad

Why Men Should be a Part of Collective Bias (@collectivebias) #cbias

April 25, 2013 by dadofdivas 69 Comments

I have been a member of Collective Bias and their Social Fabric Community for about four years (which was close to the beginning of the organization) and it has been an amazing ride! Not only is the community amazingly supportive, but there are so many opportunities to let your voice be heard.

What is Collective Bias and the Social Fabric?

The members of Social Fabric®, Collective Bias’ private influencer community, create compelling media about a brand’s products in specific retail channels. These individual’s stories build consumer engagement and brand loyalty, ultimately leading to sales conversion. The members of our community have an aggregate daily reach of over 30,000,000. As you can see this group makes a difference in what they say and do on a daily basis!

What is Happening Now

While I have been a member of Collective Bias for some time, there has been a lack of men joining the community as of late. With that in mind they have opened up their application process (for membership) to men for a short window of time as they are trying to gain more men into the community (at this time). If you have yet to apply to be a part of this community, you should as you will not be disappointed.

Over the past years I have worked with brands such as Sears, Brooks Brothers, Walmart and many others. While being an ambassador for the brand you have the opportunity to try products as well as get some additional pay for the work that you do.
If any of this sounds interesting fill out the below form to be considered and tell them that Dad of Divas sent you!!

DADuary Book Review – She Still Calls Me Daddy by @robertwolgemuth #DADuary2013 #dadchat

January 23, 2013 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

About the Book

A memorable guidebook for fathers to help them create a new adventure with their married daughters.

Standing at the altar giving their little girl away begins a new day and the need for a new way for fathers to relate to their daughters. Robert Wolgemuth, author of the best-selling She Calls Me Daddy, reminds fathers of the important role they still play while offering insight as to how it must change in the next chapter of their girls’ lives. Topics cover seven relational issues:

  • Protection
  • Conversation
  • Affection
  • Discipline
  • Laughter
  • Faith
  • Conduct

Includes thoughts on an ongoing relationship as well as on becoming a granddaddy. Discussion questions provide a great opportunity for personal or group study.

My Take on the Book

As a father of two girls I definitely do not want to rush anything! My girls are still quite young and I have a lot of time until I have to deal with the issues that are brought up in Robert Wolgemuth’s book She Still Calls Me Daddy.

Though this is true I will cherish the concepts in this book and know that down the road I will definitely come back and review it (it is not a one time read for me). The book covers seven main areas: Protection, Conversation, Affection, Discipline, Laughter, Faith, and Conduct, and takes a building up approach to raising and letting go of your daughters.

I enjoyed the way that the author intertwined his own experience with advice to other fathers as it made the read not only enjoyable but also fast. Some of the tips that he gives on dating are ones that I know that I will have to revisit in the years to come (though I am not thinking about that just yet – I’m in denial). I also enjoyed the builders checklist at the end of each chapter as it made the chapters tangible and provided me with some great hands on ideas for helping my girls as they get to be a bit older. Most dads will also enjoy the analogy that the author uses in relation to home renovation, it makes the topics relevant to any type of dad out there!

Overall, I would recommend this book for anyone who is either getting ready to let his daughters go, or will someday have to give his daughters away. It also can be a great gift for a father of daughters as well. It is a book worth reading!

DADuary Book Review – First-Time Dad by @FullerJohn #DADuary2013 #dadchat

January 19, 2013 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

About the Book
Perhaps the most powerful influence in the world is that of a dad on his child. Baseball gloves, dirty diapers, tiny little hands, first days of school, daddy-daughter dances, and learner’s permits… and so much more! There’s no way you can be ready for it all, but this is when you need to get a bit of a head start…

First Time Dad by Focus on the Family ministry veteran (and father of 6) John Fuller lets you in on the stuff you really need to know… because in just a few months or weeks or days, your life is going to change–forever.

  • Set good priorities.
  • Break bad habits and/or family patterns.
  • Recognize and recover from some common fathering mistakes.
  • Know that your words have immense power.
  • And learn how to cultivate a lasting parent-child relationship.

So, instead of wondering “oh man, oh man, oh man… what am I going to do now?” for 9 months… read this short book (plus it’s pretty fun too) and get excited!

About the Author
JOHN FULLER is vice president of Audio and New Media at Focus on the Family and co-host of the daily “Focus on the Family” broadcast. He leads the team that produces more than a dozen Focus programs reaching millions of listeners around the world. Many of these features and podcasts are also available at www.focusonthefamily.com. A media veteran of more than 30 years, John writes and speaks about creativity, media trends, influential leadership, excellence, and social media. As a father of six, he writes and speaks about strong marriages and effective parenting. John and his wife Dena are also advocates for orphan care and adoption. John has a M.A. from the University of Northern Colorado, and serves an elected member of the board of the National Religious Broadcasters.

My Take on the Book
I can honestly say that being a first-time dad can be a VERY scary thought, especially if you were an only child growing up like I was. When you don’t have much experience with kids (let alone your own) you can use any help that you can get. I know that for me, I found myself reading book after book trying to find the right answers, and many were very helpful, in shaping some of the things that I do as a father!

This book would have been a great book to have read prior to the birth of my first child. It is filled with amazing tidbits of knowledge and practical advice. It takes what your wife is going through and helps you as a father-to-be to understand what this means to you and hat you can do to help or prepare even better. At the same time, it gives you much sage advice about things that you should be doing as a new father to take care of yourself as well as your wife and child.

The book does a great job at capturing the feelins that you feel as a new father and putting them into words. It also helps a new father to know that they in fact are not alone and that what they are feeling through this process is completely normal!

DADuary Book Review – A Dad’s Point of View by @BruceSallan @aDadsPov #DADuary2013 #dadchat

January 18, 2013 by dadofdivas 6 Comments

About the Book

Taking the best of his columns, A Dad’s Point-of-View (published in over 100 newspapers and websites), about life as a single divorced dad now remarried, Sallan brings it all together in the one parenting and relationship book that readers will totally connect to and catch themselves saying, “I’m right there with you, Bruce!” In fact, many will be turning to it again and again as they face the challenges of raising today’s youths.

And for the thousands of Sallan fans, it truly delivers. Not only is it receiving very positive feedback, but it is has received numerous stellar reviews including one from Stan Lee, Marvel Comics, creator of Spiderman, The Fantastic Four and X-men. Lee states, “Bruce’s fascinating look at the ups and downs of parenting reminds me of Marvel Comics. There too, we choose not to hide the blemishes of life, but to discuss them in an entertaining and helpful manner. Must reading for all parents and would-be parents.”

Sallan’s goal with the book is simple. “It’s my hope that families of all faiths and circumstances will enjoy it and benefit from it as they face the many challenges of parenting. Through my own stories and experiences, I share from the heart about raising my sons, surviving after a divorce, adding a new step-parent to the mix, and how to have more joy in the small things, such as family traditions.”

A Dad’s Point-of-View: We ARE Half the Equation is published by JuneDavid Publishing and sells for $19.95 at leading bookstores including Amazon or through the author’s website, http://www.BruceSallan.com.

My Take on the Book

As a dad blogger I have followed Bruce for some time. I even interviewed him as my 36th father in my Dads in the Limelight Series. So when I heard that Bruce came out with the book that he had been working on for some time, I knew that I had to check it out to see if it followed the quality writing, advice and humor that I have come to expect and appreciate about Bruce’s writing, it did!

I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book! There was so much great information and resources shared within its pages and as a parent I could definitely relate to much of what he was sharing. Most of the book is full of so much everyday parenting humor and information that you will not be disappointed when you learn from Bruce as you are reading along.

This book also is not just for dads, but for parents. The humor that he uses as well as information that he shares will be helpful to all who read it. I loved how the book talked to me as a reader, and it seemed to be that Bruce was sitting in the room talking to me instead of me reading his words on the page.

Overall, this was a great book, and one that when shared between moms and dads will provide for good conversation and for a clearer understanding of the roles that each play in the parenting of a child in today’s society!

All opinions expressed in this review are my own and not influenced in any way by the company.  Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider.
