California Wine Club ( @cawineclub ) Offers Premium Wine at Great Prices Review & Giveaway

October 19, 2012 by dadofdivas

Since 1990, club owners Bruce and Pam Boring have traveled California’s wine country searching for limited-production wines from small, family-owned wineries dedicated to the art of making fine wine. Whether for yourself or a gift, CWC membership is an adventure in wine tasting that will not be experienced anywhere else.

They journey not only to Napa and Sonoma, but to less-explored wine regions like Santa Barbara, Monterey, the Sierra Foothills and beyond.

Membership costs nothing, you can cancel anytime, and every wine is 100% guaranteed.

More than three-quarters of California’s 2,100+ wineries are small, boutique, mom-and-pop operations whose wines never travel beyond their local markets and private customer lists. Come discover them with me!

Find them on Facebook!

I will be sharing my experience with all of you as my membership continues in this club, but as of not, I am quite impressed. The wine was wonderful and I was excited to try some wineries that I had never tried in the past. The bottles came well packaged and in pristine shape.  I was able to enjoy the wines with a few friends at a get-together that we had and in talking about the wine, all agreed that it was very high quality and that both were ones that they would add to their own collections. I highly recommend that you check out the premium wines in the California Wine Club. You will not be disappointed!

Today I am lucky enough to offer a great giveaway!

At the end of November CWC will draw 52 winners and then at the end of December they will draw another 52 winners.

Prizes include:
1) One of four, Three Month Wine Club memberships (A $150 value you can give as a gift, or keep for yourself)
2) One of 50 handy Two Bottle Wine Totes ($25 value)
3) One of 50 Red Tulip Music wine country CD’s ($15 value)

Here is the link to the giveaway page:

My Take on This Printer

This was an amazing printer that can do pretty much anything that you ask it to do. I’ve tried many different printers in my day but this one has many benefits that the others did not. Below you will see a few videos with my perspectives on this but here I want to say first and foremost that the paper capacity alone is something that is a huge benefit that most printers will not afford you.

On top of all this you have a printer that is easy-to-use and provides high quality beautiful images in the printing itself. So no matter whether you are printing off brochures, documents, photos or anything else you can rest assured that you will receive high-quality in return.

Finally, I am always looking for products that will save me money, and this printer claims to save on printing expenses. I have only used this for a few months now and I have found that the printer tends to save quite a bit on ink  and I have not had to overspend or overbuy for what I have not needed. Only time will tell whether this savings continues and whether it lasts longer than some other printers that I have had in the past. If it does live up to expectation, I don’t know if I’ll ever replace this printer unless I have to.

If you are looking for a great machine that can do a little bit of everything look no further than this Epson All-in-One Machine, you will not be disappointed!

Brother P-Touch Label Maker Offers Great Durability

March 14, 2012 by dadofdivas 30 Comments

I was sent a Brother P-Touch Label Maker a while back from Mom Central Consulting and over the past 7 months or so I have been trying it out. Not only in transforming my own office/craft room, but also in other areas as well. In my home when I first started using this, before event tackling my office, we used it in our Garage as we were finding that the garage really needed more organization. Too often we would just place things wherever we could and then leave them for someone else to take care of. Well, you can probably guess that this did not go over well with everyone in our home, so we needed to find ways to better organize, so we made labels for the shelves and this helped me and my girls to better know and remember where things went. Outside of actually labeling, over the past months one of the things that I have really liked is that the labels held up so well. Even now after as many months as it has been the labels still look like new, with no curling or anything. I reiterate my encouragement for all of you to consider looking at the Brother P-Touch label maker to better organize your and your family’s life! I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Brother P-Touch and received a product and gift card to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate

Brother P-Touch (@BrotherOffice) Makes Organization a Reality

March 3, 2012 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

How many of you have a room in your house that you wish you could organize? I am not the most organized person but my wife is exactly the opposite and has everything in its place so she definitely helps pull me in the opposite direction at times and I try to do the same for her too when I can.

Though I say that she is organized, she is always looking for new ways to get our home even more organized, especially when it comes to our kids and where they put things. At the same point, I know she would like to have me be much more organized, especially in our new office/craft room that we built in our basement.

I have spoken in the past about the basement project that in 2011 I worked on with a friend, and it ended up turning out better than I could have imagined, though it did take some time to accomplish. We developed an office/craft room as I mentioned and a family/living room area in our basement. The office/craft room was really a necessity with the burgeoning business that I have going with Dad of Divas, LLC and my wife truly enjoys crafts and making cards through Stampin Up and other means.

This was some before and after. You can see how some already have labels and some do not, what a difference!

With this in mind, I was quite happy when I was asked by Mom Central to be a part of a test group of people to try out a new product by Brother, the Brother P-Touch label making machine. Why was I happy, well first it was because my wife was happy, and second, because I could see how this might be able to better organize me and my and my kids’ lives.

So when I received my Brother P-Touch Labeling System, I was pleasantly happy to find that the first, the directions were not too complex and two that you could do so much with the system itself. My wife and I decided to look at our office/craft room form top to bottom to see where we could best use this and we found a number of areas in this room where this could help overall.

First, we decided to use this on my wife’s stamps. She has many stamp sets that she has collected and she found that it would be much easier to have them labeled, then to have to sort through each and every one of them.
Second, we have a number of file cabinets in our office area and we decided to better label the files that we do have so that the files can stand out better for us, no longer can my wife say she can’t read my handwriting!
Third, I have a small cabinet where I keep technological items for my business, including CD’s and such and we decided to label the shelves that they were on so that everything has a place from now on!
Finally, I have a resource library that I use on a regular basis and we decided to better organize this as well and place books into specific niche genres so each shelf now has a label and we alphabetize the books too.

Though I still have to say that I am not the most organized person, through the use of this labeling system, I can say that I am on my way!

I will say that using this labeling system was easy and anyone can use it. There are many features that were great to have and if you have any interest in better organizing a room in your home, or just your entire life in general, this product can definitely help!

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Brother P-Touch and received product and a gift card to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

@GM Offers a A Great Luxurious Ride in the #2012 @Buick Lacrosse

February 4, 2012 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

About the Car

This summer, the 2012 Buick LaCrosse goes on sale, with the fuel-saving eAssist™ system standard. Using a variety of technologies and exterior enhancements, it delivers an estimated 36 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city – a 20-percent improvement in highway mileage and a 32-percent boost in city mileage over previous models.

LaCrosse’s fuel economy rivals – or exceeds – that of small cars like the MINI Cooper (28 city/36 hwy with automatic transmission) and Toyota Corolla (26 city/34 hwy with 1.8L and automatic transmission), but does so in a full-size luxury package that comfortably seats five adults. MSRP is $29,960 before an $860 destination charge.

“Given the uncertainty of today’s fuel prices, the LaCrosse with eAssist is a smart and timely choice for customers who seek excellent fuel economy and want the roominess and features of a full-size luxury sedan,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president, Buick marketing. “The winning combination of advanced technology, no-compromise driving performance and luxurious style and passenger comfort stand to make LaCrosse with eAssist a must-have sedan.”

The LaCrosse with eAssist not only rivals the fuel economy of small cars, it trumps the efficiency of non-hybrid segment competitors and is on par with the more expensive hybrid models. The chart below compares LaCrosse with its main competitors’ 2011 EPAated fuel economy numbers.

Buick LaCrosse witheAssist Acura TL Lexus ES350 LincolnMKS Lexus HS Hybrid LincolnMKZ Hybrid ToyotaCamry Hybrid
MPG 25 city / 36 hwy 18 city / 26 hwy 19 city / 27 hwy 17 city / 24 hwy 35 city / 34 hwy 41 city / 36 hwy 31 city / 35 hwy

eAssist details

The eAssist system is mated to a 2.4L Ecotec direct-injection four-cylinder engine and next-generation six-speed automatic transmission. It uses power stored in an advanced, air-cooled lithium-ion battery to provide needed electrical boost in various driving scenarios, optimizing engine and transmission operation. An advanced 115V lithium-ion battery and latest-generation 15-kW motor-generator unit help increase fuel economy through:

  • Regenerative braking, which provides up to 15 kW of electricity to charge the battery
  • Providing up to 15 hp (11 kW) of electric power assistance during heavier acceleration
  • Automatic and smooth engine start-stop functionality when the vehicle is stopped
  • The use of electricity instead of gasoline when stopped
  • Aggressive fuel cut-off during deceleration down to zero mph for added fuel savings
  • Intelligent charge/discharge of the high-voltage battery.

The eAssist system captures up to 15kW of energy that would be normally lost during braking and uses it to recharge the lithium-ion battery. The system also shuts down fuel delivery in certain deceleration conditions, further improving fuel economy. While in fuel shut-off mode, the motor-generator unit continues spinning along with the engine to provide immediate and smooth take-off power when the driver presses on the accelerator. As the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine’s start-stop function is active when the motor-generator unit brings the engine to a smooth stop to position it properly for a smooth restart when the brake is released.

A hill-assist system captures brake pressure to help keep the vehicle stationary when eAssist’s start-stop function is activated on a moderate or steep grade, allowing the driver to accelerate more smoothly from a stop.

Buick LaCrosse with eAssist technology also features improved underbody aerodynamics and tires optimized for performance and fuel economy, as well as active control of front-end airflow that improves aerodynamics and engine warm-up. Electronically controlled shutters in the lower grille close at higher speeds to push more air over the vehicle, which increases aerodynamic efficiency to enhance fuel economy. All of these technologies increase the eAssist system’s regenerative braking capability, while also improving the vehicle’s efficiency while driving.

An ECO gauge on the instrument panel continuously responds to driving behavior, allowing the driver to drive with maximum efficiency.

LaCrosse luxury, quietness and personal technology

In the pursuit of greater fuel efficiency, the LaCrosse with eAssist gives up none of the driving attributes, quietness or technology that have helped make this luxury sedan one of the fastest-selling in the segment.

The driving experience is underpinned by a four-wheel independent suspension system, including a four-link rear suspension that uses isolating mounts to minimize noise and vibration. StabiliTrak electronic stability control system is standard, as is a variable-effort power steering system, four-wheel disc brakes with four-channel ABS, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist system.

Inside is a flowing, uninterrupted design theme that wraps around the instrument and door panels. Attention to detail is evident throughout the interior, including the analog instrument cluster, chrome offset by dark woodgrain accents, and contrasting stitching on the instrument panel. Ice blue ambient lighting is used throughout the cabin, including the center console, instrument panel and door handle pockets.

Buick’s signature QuietTuning – an engineering process to reduce, block and absorb interior noise – provides a distraction-free passenger environment.

The contemporary atmosphere of the cabin is accented with available digital connectivity and personal technologies including in-dash navigation with a 40-gig hard drive (10 gigs reserved for music), Bluetooth, an auxiliary audio input and a USB port. Rear-seat passengers can enjoy an available power rear-window sunshade and a DVD entertainment system with two display screens integrated into the seatbacks.

Later in the year, LaCrosse with eAssist will come with standard Buick IntelliLink, which uses Bluetooth or USB to connect the driver’s smartphone to a new eight-inch, highesolution, full-color touch screen display radio. IntelliLink expands on Buick’s current Bluetooth and USB capabilities to allow smartphone control via voice activation and steering wheel-mounted controls. It also enables streaming stereo audio from the phone through services like PANDORA® Internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio®.

Most importantly, Buick IntelliLink enables seamless integration of stowed portable devices with each vehicle’s infotainment system, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

LaCrosse’s intelligent technologies also work to deliver a 360-degree field of vision behind the steering wheel, for a greater feeling of comfort, security and safety. Side Blind Zone Alert technology, which notifies the driver if a vehicle in adjacent lanes is traveling in the driver’s blind spot, is available, as is a rearview camera system that features a display integrated into the navigation system screen.

The technologies available on LaCrosse enhance standard safety features including front-, side- and roof-mounted head-curtain air bags, and GM’s StabiliTrak stability- and traction-control system. The safety and security of OnStar is also included for the first year of ownership.

LaCrosse with eAssist is manufactured at GM’s Fairfax Assembly facility in Kansas City, Kan.

@39dollarglasses Offers Great Variety, Quality and Low Prices #Giveaway

December 17, 2011 by dadofdivas

39DollarGlasses.com is a great website for people looking for discount glasses. The site itself was amazing as it was filled with a ton of great glasses of every type. So whether you were looking for plastic eyeglasses or like me, metal eyeglasses you do not need to look any further than this site. The site itself was easy to navigate and there are some very intuitive functions on the site that allow you to be able to better determine what frames that would look good on your face. As you see in the video that I posted, I chose to find new sunglasses and the process was very simple. Once I found the frame that I wanted I simply had to give them my specs from an eye-exam. Then I made choices on what I wanted in my lenses. I found that you could upgrade the lenses with things such as scratch guard, transitions lenses and much more.. I chose to stay working with traditional lenses and I was happy to find that it did not take long for the lenses to ship and to arrive.

@Crest & @OralB Help You Through the Holidays #Giveaway

December 14, 2011 by dadofdivas

As the race towards the holidays heats up, moms everywhere are dreading the influx of snacks, cookies and sweet treats their children will face throughout the holiday season – but what they may not realize is how bad these foods can be for their children’s teeth. Believe it or not, candy is not the worst snack children can eat. Food such as chips and crackers – abundant at holiday parties – actually stay in teeth for longer periods of time which can potentially cause cavities.1

Dr. Jennifer Salzer, mom of 4, orthodontist and dentist has some great tips for surviving the holiday season while maintaining healthy teeth for your children. Below are just a few examples:

Tasty Alternatives
Hosting a holiday party? Serve more teeth-friendly options like fruits and cheeses which are better alternatives to foods such as chips and crackers that stay in teeth for longer periods of time potentially leading to cavities. Regardless of the snack choice, it is best to treat all candies and treats the same: eat quickly, and brush as soon as possible!

Stocking Stuffers
Use the holidays as an opportunity to restock your children with new oral care products by filling stockings with items that are fun and made just for them. Top choices include Oral-B Stages products that feature favorite Disney characters for the younger set and the Crest & Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME line for tweens.

Smarter Beverage Choices
If you and your children can’t brush your teeth immediately after eating, be sure to rinse your mouths thoroughly with water to help prevent tooth decay. If you choose bottled water, check the label for fluoride content. According to the American Dental Association, fluoridated water can help reduce the risk of cavities for children.

Giveaway

How would you like to win either a Oral-B Stages (ages 0-7) or Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health FOR ME (ages 8+) for yourself or for your family? @TMobile Samsung ( @samsungtweets ) Galaxy II Phone is Amazing

December 5, 2011 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

About the Phone

The follow-up to the extremely successful GALAXY S, Samsung’s GALAXY S II is a powerhouse of a smartphone in a fantastically sleek and lightweight design. Considerably thinner than the original GALAXY S and rivals such as the iPhone 4 (8.49mm v 9.3mm) the GALAXY S II is stunningly light (only 117g) and packs the latest version of Android (Gingerbread). The one feature most people will notice immediately is Samsung’s best ever screen; the monster 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen runs at 480 x 800 resolution, has colours visibly brighter and more vivid than other phones, better contrast and lower power consumption, and performs superbly for gaming and watching video. Plus there’s an 8.1 megapixel camera with full 1080p HD video recording, video playback at 30 frames per second and a dual-core processor, with each core running at a blistering 1Ghz for an incredibly responsive experience. The GALAXY S II comes with four hubs to help you make the most of your Galaxy S II; Social, your chatting life in one place, Readers, Samsung’s new ebook reader area, Game, the easiest way to download and play the best games, and Music, with access to over 12 million tracks.

Product Features

  • Network: HSPA+ 21Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps, EDGE/GPRS Class 12, Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900, Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100
  • Operation System: Android Platform 2.3. Dual Core Application Processor provides unsurpassed functionality and density for faster browsing, quicker multi-tasking, a smoother UI, snappier streaming and highly efficient gaming.
  • Display: 4.3″ WVGA SUPER AMOLED Plus. The 4.3″ SUPER AMOLED Plus display goes a step beyond the already remarkable SUPER AMOLED to provide enhanced readability, a slimmer design, and better battery consumption for the best viewing value of any smartphone.
  • Camera: 8MP AF with LED Flash + 2MP Front Camera
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, BT v3.0+HS, USB v2.0. Battery: 1650mAh
