My Take on the Game

Whether you are a fan or LEGO Ninjago or not, this is a very fun game that captures some of the fun from the LEGO Ninjago movie. I have been playing this for some time and I have to say that I have loved the game.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game

The game provides you with a fast paced action packed adventure that really does bring the film into your own home. In the game you can team up with Lloyd, Nya, Kai, Cole, Zane and even Master Wu. The goal is to defend their home island of Ninjago from Lord Garmadon and his Shark Army.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game

You get to train to be a Ninja, jumping, wall-running, learning combat moves and more. I also loved the Battle Maps section of the game as I could play the game with my other family members in three different game modes which were a ton of fun!

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game

I was able to play this on the Nintendo Switch and my daughters and I have loved every minute of the game.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game

The graphics were a ton of fun and the story was great as well. I loved that this followed the movie and you will too!

Disney Art Academy Will Teach You The Secrets of Disney artists!

Disney Art Academy

Are you an artist or do you have someone in your family that is? Are you someone that loves the art of Disney? Do you love using the Nintendo 3DS? If you answered yes to any or all of these you will love the new Disney Art Academy.

In the Disney Art Academy you have the ability to learn to draw some of your favorite Disney and Pixar characters but beyond the academy itself one you learn to draw the characters you do have the ability to go beyond the learning to a free drawing area where you can really explore and make your learning real.

If you follow the steps of the academy you will learn a lot and you can even save pictures of the art that you create.

My daughters enjoyed trying this out and my oldest even made a video of her thoughts on it that you can find below!

All-in-all this is a great addition for the Nintendo 3DS and I am so glad that I and my gils have had the chance to better hone our own Disney artistic abilities!

Splatoon

My Take on the Game

While my family does not play a lot of single player shooter games, this game was a ton of fun for my girls and for me. At first I did not know completely what to expect. From the outside this looks like something with paint guns but as you get the game and get into it you see the fun of the game and the interactivity of the characters between user and interface too.

As a dad I sat back and watched my girls both play this and they simply had a blast. My oldest was most drawn to it. Below are her thoughts on the game:

“This game was very fun! I loved how you could turn into a squid and move so quickly across the floor. Even better though was being able to play this against other people from all over the place. I can’t say that I’m that great yet, but I’m getting better every time I’m playing. It is also cool to be able to earn new things that I can buy for my characters so they don’t have to always be the same!”

Also as a father, at first when you hear first-person shooter you think of blood and guts and Splatoon is not even remotely like that which was refreshing and nice. It was pleasant to have a game that I could sit back, watch my daughter enjoy and not worry about something new lurking around the corner that could dismember her or do other bodily hard as you find in many first-person shooter games.

Splatoon

All-in-all we were very impressed with the game and think that you will be too! The game has a lot of places where expansion packs would be nice for the future, so only time will tell about where Splatoon could go in the future!

Super Mario Maker Lets You Take Control of The Game!

November 13, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Super Mario Maker from Nintendo lets you take control of the game and create amazing worlds for unique game play!
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

My daughters are a part of the Nintendo Kid Reviewer program and that means that every once and a while we get to try out some very fun games that keep them jumping for joy. One of the games that they have been clamoring for has been and recently Nintendo sent this our way and boy were they excited about trying it out for themselves.

In Super Mario Maker you get to do what you want with the game. You can recreate the Mario Bros of the past or take your own imagination and make it into reality.

Super Mario Maker from Nintendo lets you take control of the game and create amazing worlds for unique game play!

In talking to my oldest daughters after she played this game she said that the game “was so awesome!” She explained that “I loved that I could think about what I wanted on each level and then could have my character to exactly what I wanted.” She tried making many different levels and as she would finish making them (and playing them), I could see her mind working on how she could change and challenge herself on the next world and level that she would conquer next.

I asked her what she thought about creating worlds within video games like this and she told me that “more games should let you do this because it frees you to take control of the game.” I then asked her whether she would ever want to create games like this for other people and she said “no, but being able to do this by myself in my own home is cool and more kids should try this.”

Super Mario Maker from Nintendo lets you take control of the game and create amazing worlds for unique game play!

As a father of girls I think it is also SO important for girls to try this. Why is it so much different than boys you might ask? Too many girls are turned off to the sciences at an early age. They are not encouraged to pursue the science, math and technology fields and that to me is too bad. I love to see my daughters’ mind working and love seeing what she can create. This combines her own innate sense of artistic creativity with logic and reasoning and even though she does not know it, she is learning so much by creating and playing Super Mario Maker.

Super Mario Maker from Nintendo lets you take control of the game and create amazing worlds for unique game play!

If you do not know a lot about the game, some of the cool features include that you can:

  • Play a near-limitless number of Mario levels created by Nintendo and players around the world
  • Create your own Mario levels by using the WII U GamePad controller touch screen to add enemies, blocks, pipes and more
  • Break the conventions of traditional Super Mario Bros. game play by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists
  • Touch control, instant editing and a robust online ranking and search system makes creating and playing and sharing a seamless process.
  • Ease into creation by creating a number of course parts to help you learn and then watch the number of course parts and styles at your disposal expand more and more everyday.
  • Insert fun sound effects into your courses, with some sounds even generating fun visuals, like fireworks or a cat punching the screen.
  • Transform into different costumes at random with the new Mystery Mushroom item. You can even expand the costume options by completing 100 Mario challenge mode or tapping compatible amiibo.
  • Tap a 30th anniversary Mario amiibo figure to the WII U GamePad to add a Big Mushroom power-up to your course
  • Learn even more fun ideas for designing courses through a special booklet that comes in every retail copy!

Super Mario Maker from Nintendo lets you take control of the game and create amazing worlds for unique game play!

This is a game that my girls and I cannot say enough good things about and you will too. Pick up a copy of Super Mario Maker today and start creating your own worlds!
