December 3, 2022 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Kirby Dream Buffet

About the Game

In Kirby’s Dream Buffet™ you can bump, battle, and boost your way to sweet victory!

Have fun rolling through a smorgasbord of food-themed stages in delicious 4-player competition as a rounder-than-usual Kirby. Anyone can take the cake in Kirby’s Dream Buffet! This digital game is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

Kirby Dream Buffet

If you do not want to play against the system, battle with another player on a single Nintendo Switch family system or have even more fun battling it out with up to 4 players via local wireless or online.

The game allows you to dress Kirby in scrumptious costumes that look like Meta Knight, King Dedede, Elfilin, and more and you can customize Kirby with an array of different color options to help you start the race in style.

Kirby Dream Buffet

As you are playing the game decorate your own cake with treats that look like cookies, chocolates, and candies from the Kirby™ series of games.

My Take on the Game

I have loved playing other Kirby™ games in the past and I was interested to see what this game would be like as well. I will say that while the game is different than other Kirby™ games it is a lot of fun that will allow you to pass the time away with ease. The levels are challenging and you continue to work level by level to hone your skill to be able to have even more fun in the next level. As you are able to play against other players you will have even more fun as you compete against your friends. All-in-all I had hours of fun and I think that you will too!

Game Review – Mario Strikers™: Battle League

November 28, 2022 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Mario Strikers™: Battle League,

About the Game

Do you love soccer? In Mario Strikers™: Battle League, Super Mario series mainstays like Peach, Toad, and Yoshi put their cleats (and stats) to the pitch and will stop at nothing to score.

You can customize your characters with gear that can change their appearance…and their attributes! You do have to choose carefully, though—a gear set can improve one stat but may also lower other abilities.

Mario Strikers™: Battle League,

You can bring together 8 players to go for the goal with local wireless, or online. Bring along a secondary striker on the same system in online battles, too. Locally, 4 players on each team can go cleat-to-cleat in individual matches.

Create your own double elimination tournament with up to 4 players on the same system and earn in-game coins!

Mario Strikers™: Battle League,

My Take on the Game
As a dad with two soccer players in my family I have grown to love the sport and this game really allows you to have some fun as a fan of the sport bringing together characters you know and love and power ups that are out of this world. The game does a good job at offering you a great tutorial and I encourage you to take advantage of this as some of the moves are more advanced and take some practice. Once you get through the tutorial though the game is a ton of fun. I cannot say that I am an expert yet, but I will say that it is a ton of fun and I have enjoyed every part of the game. If you are a fan of Super Mario and a fan of soccer, bring your fandom of both together with this great game!

It’s Time For Fun With Mario Party Superstars

November 10, 2021 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Mario Party Superstars

Mario Party Superstars

  • Mario Party is back with five classic boards from the Nintendo 64 Mario Party games. Frosting meets flowers as you race to get the most stars (and sabotage your opponents) on the Peach’s Birthday Cake board from the original Mario Party game. Or watch the countdown that unleashes Bowser Coin Beam and hold onto those coins on the Space Land board. The tides can turn quickly in Mario Party, so stay vigilant, partygoers. This and all other modes can be played online, too!

    Mario Party Superstars

  • Try your hand at a Superstar collection of minigames from throughout the Mario Party series. Whether you are saving up coins for stars in board game mode or practicing in free play, there is nothing quite like being the last one standing in Mushroom Mix-Up or Shy Guy Says. All minigames are played with button controls, so you can stick to the Joy-Con controller or bust out the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or a Nintendo Switch Lite.
    Mario Party Superstars
  • Bring the party anytime, anywhere with same-system, local wireless, or online play. Matches with friends in board game mode save each turn, so feel free to take a break and pick up where you left off. Use stickers to praise or pester fellow players as you race across the board collecting stars. All modes support online multiplayer, so you can hop in with friends for a few minigames or a marathon 30-turn match. Victory is just as sweet (and stealing stars is just as satisfying) from anywhere across the globe.

Mario Party Superstars

This game was so much fun. Filled with so many minigamwes. I have been playing the game for a while and even though I have, I have not gotten through all of the minigames! For newcomers to Mario Party, you can have up to four players run around a digital board game, rolling dice and landing on spaces that offer bonuses or downfalls. At the end of each round, players jump into a quick minigame and whoever wins earns coins. The  goal is to use the coins to purchase stars and have the most of them by the end of your rounds.

This game seemed to take the best of past Mario Party minigames and brought them all to Superstars. Each time I played, everyone around me had a blast. The game has a ton of options for you to set up where you can create a unique experience for yourself and other players. For example, if you don’t like the Star bonuses that were rewarded at the end of games you can opt to turn those off.

All-in-all this is an amazing game to play by yourself and with your friends. If you are a fan of Mario, you will not want to miss this game!

Game Review – Animal Crossing: New Horizons

April 8, 2020 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

About the Game

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons you create your own little slice of paradise as you explore, build, and customize your very own deserted island. A cast of charming animal residents including Tom Nook and Isabelle help grow your budding community. Players make the world their own using a wealth of natural resources to craft everything from tools to creature comforts and decorate however they wish. You can even take a break to enjoy a beach sunset while ocean fishing or hunt down insects at the crack of dawn!

  • Build your community from scratch on a deserted island brimming with possibility; Create your personal getaway and customize your character, home, decorations, and even the landscape itself
  • Collect materials to construct everything from furniture to tools! Then, use what you create to give your island a personal touch
  • Watch as the time of day and seasons match real life—even your hemisphere! Each day holds potential for surprises and discoveries
  • Get to know the island residents, garden, fish, decorate, hunt for fossils, and more!

My Take on the Game

I have been a fan since Animal Crossing came out originally so I was extremely interested to see how this new version would hold up to my initial experience. While I have been held-up at home, this game let me create a whole new world (without virus) where I could build a home, make friends and be a productive member of the society. One of the things that I love in this game is that the charm of the first game was not lost in this one, and instead I think it is enhanced even further.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons you experience island living. You and two randomly chosen animal island-mates start a new life on a deserted island after purchasing a getaway package from the entrepreneurial raccoon named Tom Nook. You’re handed a tent and a simple set of instructions: build out the island any which way you like, and they truly mean build.

In this game, one of the changes that I see is that you are crafting items from materials collected. This reminded me a bit of Minecraft but with a different type of humor. You don’t really know what will appear next, but you have to be ready for anything. Whether it’s a bathroom towel rack falling from a tree that you can harvest wood from or getting a t-shirt for saying something.

Being able to build in this game is intuitive and simple to do. You’ll find yourself in the menus often as you look up what ingredients are needed to make a furniture, but thanks to New Horizons’ accessible interface it is easy to navigate for all.

One of the cool things that you will experience, if you have never played this game, is experiencing that what happens, happens in real time. So for instance, a character might say “this will happen tomorrow.” When this is said you may think that this means in an hour, but no, it is actually tomorrow. This is something that you have to get used to, as many games do not allow you to experience things in this way, but this game is different and fun in this way.

This game will allow you to tally up hours of game play, which is another great thing for any gamer. The time really flies by, and before you know it, you will also wonder where the time went. The game is fun to play and experience. For any Switch owners looking for something to do during these uncertain times this will definitely allow you to get away from it all for a while. I would highly recommend this game for all.

Great Gameplay, Puzzles, Characters & More in New Super Lucky’s Tale

New Super Lucky's Tale

Thousands of collectibles to gather, tons of rewarding secrets to discover, a cast of memorable characters, and an entire wardrobe of costumes for the stylish adventurer.

New Super Lucky's Tale

This is the adventure you’ve been looking for, designed to delight and challenge players of all ages and skill levels. Jump, burrow, and tail swipe your way to victory in this love letter to classic 3D platformers!

New Super Lucky's Tale

My Take on the Game

What a fun game! Initially I didn’t know what to expect, but the game starts with a great story that sets up the whole game. While I had not played Lucky before, I found the story to set up the game completely well and as I got into the game I really loved each of the levels.

The game itself was a ton of fun and each level is more and more challenging. There are puzzles as well as levels that will challenge you in numerous ways. For you to pass the levels you have to finish a few different things in each level to be able to collect all of the scattered pages of the book. Some levels were easier than others, but it became a bit of an obsession for me to be able to finish all aspects of every level so I could complete everything. Sometimes this was easy and sometimes not.

New Super Lucky’s Tale is so much fun and while I have not yet gotten to the end of the game yet, I am having a ton of fun trying to get there one level at a time. Lucky is a fun character and you will love getting to know him as you bring him closer to the end of his journey. I for one have loved every minute if this game and you will too!

Game Review: LEGO DC Super-Villains

March 17, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and DC Entertainment today announced LEGO® DC Super-Villains, the first LEGO game to put players at the center of a villain-centric adventure packed with favorite locations and characters from across the DC universe.  For the first time, a LEGO game is giving players the ability to create and play as their own DC Super-Villain throughout the game. Their character becomes the center of the story, while teaming up with an iconic variety of villains to adventure through the hilarious and original story written in collaboration with DC. LEGO® DC Super-Villains will be available October 16, 2018 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One X®, Nintendo Switch™, and PC.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains provides players a fun and humorous way to cause mischief by unleashing their DC Super-Villain’s sinister powers and amusing abilities,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “With an unprecedented amount of customization options to choose from, players can create and customize their character at the start of the story, unlocking new powers and abilities as they progress through the funniest LEGO game to date.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“The original story in LEGO DC Super-Villains flips the DC universe upside down as players embark on an unforgettable adventure starring memorable villains set across notable DC locations,” said Ames Kirshen, Vice President, Interactive & Animation, DC Entertainment. “DC’s roster of iconic Super-Villains is unmatched and fans will love teaming up with The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and a host of others to save Earth from a greater evil.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains gives players a new way to play with their favorite DC characters with a splash of light-hearted, villainous antics,” said Sean McEvoy, VP Digital Games, The LEGO Group. “Players will enjoy exploring the expansive DC universe in the way only a LEGO game can deliver.”

In LEGO DC Super-Villains, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe, proclaiming themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’. Renowned DC Super-Villains from the ‘Legion Of Doom’ discover Earth’s newest heroes may not be the heroes they claim to be. With each player’s completely customizable Super-Villain character in command, this team of misfit lawbreakers must join forces to discover and foil the evil plans the incognito strangers have in store.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

At the beginning of the campaign, players can create their own unique villain and main character throughout, while also teaming up with a variety of DC Super-Villains throughout the story mode. As players progress, they will unlock new abilities, powers and can continue to customize their character to take on the evil threat. Friends and family can join story mode at any time with the fun, two-player, local co-op experiences where players can team up in epic boss fights.

A Deluxe Edition of the game, featuring the main game content, Season Pass content and early access to the DC Super-Villains: TV Series DLC Character Pack, is now available for pre-order.  An exclusive LEGO minifigure, Lex Luthor Superman, also comes with the physical version of the Deluxe Edition, while digital consumers will receive the Justice League Dark DLC Character Pack with their Deluxe Edition.

My Take on the Game

One of the things that I like the most about LEGO games is that they are so family friendly and they are made to be played by any and all. I would have to say that in playing many other LEGO games, this game is one of the most fun games that I have played recently. As a fan of the DC Universe, I have played games that focus on heroes, but not on villains.

In playing the game I have to say that the game play was better than I expected. Even better though was the plot itself. I found that the plot was much better than the last LEGO Marvel game that I played in the past.

It was a lot of fun to take control of the villains that you did not always think you would have an opportunity to control, and interact with others that again, you would not have thought possible.

In this game the super villains have to come to the rescue to save the world from Earth 3 Justice League dopplegangers. As you use your character you will find that the character interactions are authentic and that there is some great banter going on as well as some cool non-verbal cues as well.

One of the things that was unique in my opinion was the fact that you could create your own super villain. With this, you could build their powers up throughout the game and while you may not play your character most of the game, it is still fun to have the character there in the background just in case.

In the game, much like other LEGO based games you will defeat enemies, collect LEGO studs and solve puzzles as you work through the levels.

Puzzles are character ability specific. Some areas in the level are locked first playthrough since some characters abilities can’t be used until later since they’re not unlocked during the time of the story.

Boss battles are somewhat easy. Most come down to: wait for them to do their special attack, they will get dizzy, then do a free hit on them. Keep doing this and you will win!

This is a fun game and if you love DC you will love this, as it gives you a taste of the evil-doers for once!

Holiday Gift Guide – Starlink Battle for Atlas

December 17, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Starlink

Starlink

In Starlink Battle for Atlas, if you love Star Fox and the previous game that you may have played on Nintendo in the past this is a brand new game that brings together characters that you know, but also new characters as well. Being that I tried this game on Nintendo Switch, I loved that you got a few characters that you could try in this new game.

Starlink Battle for Atlas

In Starlink Battle for Atlas Star Fox and his colleagues meet up with another crew that you are asked to help. This help goes a long way and with the two characters that you start with you can be on either side of the fight. With the Nintendo Switch you transform your system into a spaceship that you can fly and use to destroy targets.

  • Mix and match pilots, ships, wings, and weapons to fully customize your dream starship.
  • Instantly see changes that you make to your physical ship get applied in-game.
  • Build your own playstyle with unique pilot abilities and weapon configurations to overcome deadly challenges.
  • Seamlessly and freely explore seven of the unique alien planets in the Atlas Star System.
  • Team up with your favorite wingman in split-screen co-op action.
  • Nintendo Switch System Exclusive: Star fox comes to Starlink: Battle for Atlas with a Fox McCloud pilot, Arwing ship, and an exclusive mission!

Starlink
Starlink is a brand new Toys to Life game from Ubisoft where you take spaceships and you use the spaceships along with specific pilots that you put onto a special controller for your gaming system.

You can play the game with your Nintendo Switch itself, but the magic of the game comes alive when you use the special ship that is provided to you with the game.

When you use the special controller you will pick a pilot to use and a ship to use for the game itself.

Getting to build the ship into what you want is all a part of the fun and as you add in pilots, weapons packs and additional ships you will get to continue to have a blast as you play throughout the game.

Starlink Battle for Atlas

Overall, this is a lot of fun to play. Ships will run you about $25 a piece and sometimes you can even get them on sale for better prices.

The pilots cost about $8. You can purchase weapons in 2 packs and they are about $9 a piece.

In all, the starter pack will cost about $75. You will want to purchase some other ships, weapons and characters so in all you will be paying about $300 for everything.

This may seem high but watch for sales!

Some of the Starlink Toys Include:

  • Starter Kit Nintendo Switch
  • Pulse Starship
  • Cerberus Starship
  • Neptune Starship
  • Lance Starship
  • Nadir Starship
  • Scramble Starship
  • Shockwave Weapons Set
  • Crusher Weapons Set
  • Hailstorm Weapons Set
  • Iron Fist Weapons Set
  • Levy McCray Pilot Pack
  • Razor Lemay Pilot Pack
  • Eli Arborwood Pilot Pack
  • Nintendo Switch Co-Op Pack
  • Playstation PS4 Co-Op Pack

Bring Your Love of Harry Potter to Nintendo Switch with LEGO Harry Potter Collection!

November 4, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Harry Potter Collection

About the Harry Potter Collection

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group today announced the launch of LEGO Harry Potter™: Collection for Nintendo Switch™ and Xbox One, bringing the top-selling videogames LEGO® Harry Potter™: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter™: Years 5-7 together in one remastered package.

Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Harry Potter: Collection unites the signature humor of LEGO games and the expansive Wizarding World for a thrilling journey full of spell-casting, potion-making, and puzzle-solving fun. The compilation features content from the eight films with enhanced graphics, environments, lighting and visual effects, along with two downloadable content (DLC) packs.

Harry Potter Collection

“The LEGO Harry Potter: Collection for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One brings the entire LEGO Harry Potter adventure to a new generation of players to enjoy,” said Jonathan Smith, Head of Production and Strategic Director, TT Games. “Gamers can journey back to Hogwarts for a light-hearted, humorous and interactive journey told through all of the Harry Potter films, sure to delight fans and newcomers alike.”

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is based on the first four films—Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™—allowing fans to experience Harry‘s first four years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in full LEGO form.

http://www.dadofdivas.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/20181103_155704.mp4

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 transports players through the final four films—Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix™, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince™ and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ Part 1 & 2—to experience Harry’s last years at Hogwarts™ and his battle against Lord Voldemort™ in the ultimate fight between good and evil.

Harry Potter Collection

This action-packed adventure also offers two previously released DLC packs, including a Character Pack featuring Godric Gryffindor, Harry (Yule Ball), Helga Hufflepuff, Lockhart (Straightjacket), Luna (Lion Head), Peeves, Hermione (Pink Dress), Ron Weasley (Ghoul), Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, as well as a Spell Pack featuring Cantis, Densaugeo, Ducklifors, Melofors and Tentaclifors.

My Take on the Harry Potter Collection

Are you a true Harry Potter fan? With this new collection of games you can re-live all of the years where you have come to love Harry, his friends and his enemies. You can start in year one or year five and work your way from there. As you move through the game you will learn how to use magic and be able to work with different characters to be able to accomplish different tasks.

In playing this game, I found that like other LEGO games you have to break things, find hidden items and accomplish different tasks to be able to complete the levels at an expert level. The nice thing about the game is that you can play for hours or just a short period of time and still have a ton of fun.

Harry Potter Collection

I loved being able to switch between characters as each is unique and as you come to find their strengths and weaknesses you will have to use them for different reasons.

Being someone that has read all of the books and also watched all of the movies, this game followed the tenor of both the books and the film. It does leave out detail, but I expected that.

In the end you get hours of Harry Potter fun all wrapped up in one collection of games.

If you are a Harry Potter fan and you love gaming, this collection is for you!
