2017 Kia Sportage SX FWD Offers Great Style, Space and More!

 2017 Kia Sportage

Over the past few days I had the chance to drive the new 2017 Kia Sportage SX FWD. This small SUV from KIA offers more than meets the eye and really delivers in regards to power, handling and comfort. You can easily fit five people in the vehicle and with the seats in the second row folding down you can also get a lot of room if you need it.

 2017 Kia Sportage

I found that the  2017 Kia Sportage really does offer great power too. The vehicle has its’ own paddles so you can switch over to manual if you want to amp up the power to the vehicle. At the same time you have all of the safety features that I know that I am looking for in a family vehicle and I can tell that this would be a vehicle that would be plenty safe for my whole family.

e 2017 Kia Sportage

The  2017 Kia Sportage  also gives you great gas mileage. I found that they state that it is 21 in the city and 26 on the highway with an average of 23 mpg. I found that this was true and I seemed to get a similar MPG from the  2017 Kia Sportage as well.

 2017 Kia Sportage

The  2017 Kia Sportage was a ton of fun to drive and with the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty I am truly impressed with what this vehicle offers. Also, with a fully loaded vehicle coming in at less than $34,000 this vehicle is a great price for a family looking to get into a SUV.

All-in-all I was very impressed with the  2017 Kia Sportage and I think you will be too!

The 2016 Kia Sorento Offers Space, Safety and Comfort For All Families!

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

When taking a trip with a family you need space and the 2016 Kia Sorento SXL was the perfect vehicle for our family in a recent trip that we embarked upon. Why do I say this? Well, you see for us to be able to fold he seats down to the ground in the third row was SO important on this trip as we knew that we were going to have to pick up our oldest daughter from summer camp and we were going to stay away from home for a week. To be honest if we did not have a seats that folded flat, we would have been sunk, but the Kia delivered and while we were packed to the brim, we fit completely!

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

On top of space this vehicle was SO comfortable. The kids had all the room that they needed and they commented over and over how comfortable the seats were. I noticed right away how quiet the vehicle was and how smooth of a ride this was too.

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

When you are traveling for long periods you want a vehicle that makes the time feel like it is passing quickly and while I know that the Kia did not speed up time, because of the comfort I found that I was not focusing on the time that was being spent.

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

The vehicle was filled with so many safety features too which made me feel secure, especially with the fact that you get things like:

  • Dual front advanced airbags
  • Front seat mounted side airbags
  • Side curtain airbags in the 1st and 2nd rows
  • Anti-lock braking system
  • Blind spot detection system
  • And much more!

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

Best of all is the warranty. The Kia brand itself is so inclusive in its’ warranties. People who purchase from Kia will get:

  • 10 year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty
  • 5 year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty
  • 5 year/60,000 mile roadside assistance

We loved how far we could get on a tank of gas too. With 22 mpg combined average and 25 mpg on the highway we did not have to fill up many times during the entire week which ended up saving us a ton of money!

The 2016 Kia Sorento offers space, safety and comfort for all families

Overall, for a price of $45,095 this fully-loaded Kia Sorento is a great buy for a family like mine and for yours too!

Here is a video with more of my thoughts on this great vehicle:

Setting Off On A Vacation To Remember

June 25, 2016 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Yesterday my family and I packed up the 2016 Kia Sedona that I was provided from my friends at Kia and Driveshop and we started our journey. This is a journey that has been a few months in the making, but it is a vacation that the whole family has been looking forward to immensely.

The beautifully renovated Emerson Inn will offer an authentic bed-and-breakfast experience with heartfelt hospitality reminiscent of days gone by.The beautifully renovated Emerson Inn will offer an authentic bed-and-breakfast experience with heartfelt hospitality reminiscent of days gone by.

You see, this past year, my oldest, Diva-J just completed fifth grade. During this year her school explored colonial America. As timing would have it, I had been asked to come and explore Hotel that was making a grand re-opening in May 2016 called the Emerson Inn in Rockport, Massachusetts and with this being so close to Boston and to so many of the important founding places for our American Heritage I could not miss out on this learning moment to reach out and try and plan a vacation.

Long story short, things worked out and this week we are traveling from Michigan to Boston and back in an amazing vehicle, the 2o16 Kia Sedona. Of course Kia would not just provide any vehicle, but they provided us with a top of the line Kia that completely rocked our world and as you can see, the girls were in heaven, especially with the footrests and the reclining seats and DVD player. The amenities in this vehicle really bale a 14.5 hour first day go by very quickly and the vacation go smoothly.

My thoughts on the Kia Sedona

We ended up taking a bit of a longer route to get to our first destination, Springfield, Massachusetts. We could have gone through Canada, but chose to go around the Lake instead which added a bit of time, but that was ok. The Kia Sedona got great gas mileage as we were getting over 24-25 MPG on the highway and I would even try and see what I could do to do even better as we started to get into hills and had more downslopes that I could coast on!

While I have driven in Michigan and Ohio extensively I have to say that I do not have a lot of experience driving through upper-New York and Massachusetts. Talk about beautiful country. The rolling hills and vast expanses that you are afforded are amazing. Unfortunately, much of the trip that we took were on turnpikes so especially in New York this got a bit expensive with having to pay over $15 in all for tolls. Other than that I was surprised to find though that the traffic was relatively light and because the 2016 Kia Sedona was as comfortable as it was, the trip went very well.

When I say very well, I mean it. No fighting between the girls, no complaining about the amount of time it was taking. This is saying a lot when you are on the road for 14.5 hours!

As we finally hit Western Massachusetts, we were amazed at the beauty of the area. The 50+ MIles between the State line and Springfield is mountain-filled which was not expected and so lush with greenery. I have only really been to the Boston area in the past or driving aong the East Coast so this was a nice change.

springfield, Massachusetts

We are excited about our first day of vacation in Western Massachusetts exploring the Greater Springfield area thanks to the great folks at the Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.

La Quinta Inn in Springfield, Massachusetts

We have the pleasure of staying at the great La Quinta in Springfield which is conveniently located in downtown Springfield close to the The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the Springfield Museums whic are two of the main stops for this trip! We also are excited to see one of the Flagship stores for the Yankee Candle company which is located only about 30 minutes north of Springfield, Massachusetts too.

When we arrived at the LaQunita Inn we were impressed, This was a large facility, and it offered a ton of amenities. The girls immediately gravitated to the fact that it had a pool and game room! J-Mom and I loved the fact that it offered a great breakfast. When we got to our room we were expecting that we would have been placed in a regular sized room but found that we had been given a double sized room with 2 beds and a pull out couch which made our stay even more enjoyable!

As you can probably guess after driving 14.5 hours we were a bit tired, so we crashed but we were excited to get up early the next day to start our grand adventure exploring Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Kia K900 offers luxury, comfort and style

Get Ready for Style and Luxury in the 2016 Kia K900

Recently, I had heard that Kia had come out with the Kia K900 about a year ago and was very excited to be able to try one out for myself to see of it held up to my expectations. When I originally thought of a Kia, I did equate the brand with luxury lines of vehicles, but after driving the Kia K900 I do now!

Over the past week I was able to drive the Kia K900 and let me tell you, WOW! This vehicle a is very comfortable, and has every bell and whistle imaginable within it. From traditional extras like heated and cooling seats to extras that I have not experienced before like a power sunshade in the rear of the car and power seats that recline a bit in the back too (My kids loved this feature).

The Kia K900 offers luxury, comfort and style

On top of this the Kia K900 has more safety features than I knew what to do with. Filled with surround airbags, you also get a lane departure warning system, blind spot detection system and even a heads up display for your windshield that will help you keep your eyes on the road.

The sound system in this vehicle was beyond compare and with opening up the panoramic sunroof and putting the windows down you could ride in complete comfort and style no matter what distance you were going.

The Kia K900 offers luxury, comfort and style

We took a few trips in this and found that everyone loved the vehicle and the kids loved that they could have control of the music and the climate control right from the backseat.

The Kia K900 offers luxury, comfort and style

With a V8 engine, you get a lot of power in this for the driving that you are doing. You get 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway for a combined city/hwy of 18 mpg.

The Kia K900 that I drove had a MSRP of $68,500 and with all of the extras that you get I can see why!

The Kia K900 offers luxury, comfort and style

It is hard to describe the comfort you get in this vehicle, or the amazing control that if affords you as a driver, so in the end I will just say, take a Kia K900 for a spin and you will be impressed!

Below is a video of some further thoughts on the vehicle!

2016 Kia Soul Offers More Power and Pick Up Than You Might Think

April 15, 2016 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

This is the 2016 Kia Soul
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Recently I had the opportunity to try driving the new 2016 Kia Soul. The 2016 Kia Soul may look small on the outside, but I found that it was a great commuter car and really had a lot of room on the inside for everything that I needed to come and go from work.

This is the 2016 Kia Soul

I was also impressed with all of the extras that you receive for the price of the car. At $24,700, you get a car that has quite a bit of pep and can handle itself a lot better that I would have first thought. This was especially true the week that I had the vehicle. You see we had a severe snow storm that dumped about 12 inches on us. I would have initially guessed that a small vehicle like this might have some issues getting through the snow or handling in the conditions, but I was wrong. This handled perfectly!

This is the 2016 Kia Soul

I also got some great gas mileage. I found that I received about 23 (city) and 32 (highway) so not too bad in either case.

You also get a ton of extras for the price that I mentioned!

All-in-all I was very impressed with the vehicle and think that you will be too!

Kia Optima Sport Turbo is Sporty and Gives Your Great Pick Up and Precision!

January 10, 2016 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

The 2016 Kia Optima has been redesigned inside and out, and the result is an outstanding car
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

The 2016 Kia Optima has been redesigned inside and out, and the result is an outstanding car! I have tried out Kia vehicles in the past but I have to say that I love this vehicle, not only due to the style, but also for everything that it provides you as a vehicle.

The SX Turbo, is equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged and intercooled 16-valve inline-4 engine, with aluminum block and head, and direct fuel injection. With that being said, this is an amazing engine that puts out 245hp and provides 260 ft. lbs. of torque at a low 1350 rpm.

For people that have been following Kia you will note that this is a little lower than the 2015 but the torque comes on at a lower rpm, which is what you want when it comes to torque.

The engine is also very quiet and gives you a very smooth ride! On top of this you get great pick up, with the ability to go from zero to 60 in under 7 seconds.  In examining the vehicle, the EPA fuel Economy numbers are 22 City and 32 Highway. In my week long test drive I found that I had plenty of gas to get everywhere I was going and still had gas to spare on the tank that I had.

The 2016 Kia Optima has been redesigned inside and out, and the result is an outstanding car

The power goes to the front wheels through a 6-speed manumatic that shifts quickly and smoothly in both full automatic mode, or you can use the provided paddles to change the gears manually. The vehicle also gives you a button to switch to a Economy or Sport mode if you would like.

I found that the Kia Optima handled well on the road. It cornered well and handled rough pavement and pot holes well too. All-in-all this was an amazing ride and one that I would highly recommend for all to try out for themselves!

Below you will see my thoughts on the car!

Riding in Style on a Northern California Adventure in a 2016 Kia Sorento!

November 10, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

2016-Kia-Sorrento
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

For the past week my daughter and I had a northern California adventure. As a part of our adventure we had the opportunity to try out the new 2016 Kia Sorento. This was the perfect vehicle for us as we were planning on going to Yosemite as well as traveling quite a bit over the week. In actuality we traveled over 1000 miles in a week so we really were exploring a lot so for us we needed a car that not only had space for us, but also was comfortable for the trip too.

When we picked up the car I was immediately impressed with style of the vehicle, but even more, was what I found when I first went into the vehicle. I was very impressed with all of the features within the car. It had amazing sound as well as a huge full moon roof that spanned the entire vehicle. On top of this you get heated and cooled seats as well as amazing traction control and safety features.

2016-Kia-Sorrento

The traction control on the 2016 Kia Sorento was really important as the day we traveled to Yosemite National Park it had snowed the day before we arrived and on the day that we were there we ended up having having to go through some heavy snow and ice on the way out of the valley too. Without the traction control and all-wheel drive on this vehicle we would have had a bit of trouble maneuvering through the roads exiting the valley.

I took a bit of time to share some thoughts with you on the 2016 Kia Sorento in the video below.

The 2015 Kia Sedona SX-L Offers Style, Comfort & So Much More!

As a family of four, we are always traveling from place to place going from soccer to tennis to art to playdates or birthday parties and more. That being said, we need a vehicle that is comfortable and flexible when it comes to space. The challenge in the past has always been that minivans have gotten a bad rap in the past because of their style, look or utility. While this has been the case in the past, I will tell you, the Kia Sedona SX-L was a vehicle that I was asked to drive for the past week, and from first glance to the last moment driving it, I had a blast, and it completely re-defines the minivan experience.

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

We were specifically interested in trying out this minivan during the week that we did because we were taking a trip with the family to Sandusky, OH, which is about three hours away. While that is not too far, it is still so important for us to have a comfortable vehicle that everyone was comfortable in, and the Kia Sedona SX-L did not disappoint. Actually, the kids became so comfortable, they never even asked to watch a video on the portable DVD player that we brought just in case!

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

One of the things that I was really impressed with was some of the safety features within the vehicle. One of the ones that I was particularly impressed with was the camera system in this vehicle. Not only do you get a backup camera, but you actually get a 360 camera that gives you the ability to get a feel for the entire environment around the car, not just a 90-180 degree view as you do with most backup cameras.

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

The Kia Sedona SX-L also has an amazing array of features that allowed you to feel like you are in a luxury vehicle (which you are). The vehicle that I test drove had a price point just over $43,000 which for some would seem very high, but I will tell you that with all of the add-ons and extras, the cost of worth every cent. My kids particularly loved the foot rests on the captain chairs in the second row. The second row also will move back to almost the third row in the minivan itself. I have never seen a minivan give you this much room or comfort!

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

I also liked the two tone color schemes that you receive in the new Kia Sedona SX-L. While the vehicle I tested out was white on the outside, you get amazing color on the inside that flowed well. You also get very easy sight lines in the Kia Sedona SX-L. Because I am a shorter person, I found that the front dashboard had a lower clearance, which allowed my wife and I an easy-view of everything in front of me which was great, as so many minivans have a dash that rises up and sometimes cuts off your viewing ability.

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

Kia-Sedona-SX-L

We used the navigation within the Kia Sedona SX-L extensively on the trip, and this navigation system was amazing and gave us perfect step-by-step directions to and from where we needed to go. The navigation was in high definition with great audio and directions and we had no problems whatsoever getting where we needed to go, when we needed to get there.

My daughter and I put together the following video review of the Kia Sedona SX-L. I hope that you like this as much as we enjoyed putting it together!

2014 Kia Soul – A Car With Plenty Of Go Power ( @Kia )

February 12, 2014 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

2014 Kia Soul
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Over the past week I have had the chance to drive the new 2014 Kia Soul. I have to be honest and say that this is a smaller car than I typically would drive, but have been completely impressed with the power and comfort that this vehicle provides.

The vehicle that I drove was completely decked out with all of the toys and even with that was priced just over $24,000 which is definitely reasonable for a small car. I found that I got pretty good gas mileage as well with Kia stating that it would get about 31 MPG on the highway and 27 MPG combined, which is far better than I get with my current vehicle that I drive.

I also liked the Kia website when it came to this and all of their vehicles as you can build out any of their vehicles and see what it would cost you with the options/extras that you would want to place on the car yourself.

Below you can view a video walking you through the car and my experience with the vehicle itself.
