As someone that is always looking to safeguard my home I am always looking for devices that are simple to use but powerful when it comes to keeping my home and my family safe. The Dojo by BullGuard does just that.

Dojo by BullGuard

When I got the Dojo, it was super easy to use. All you have to to is connect Dojo to your Wi-Fi router, download Dojo App and dojo does the rest.  Here’s the best thing, if you need assistance, the Dojo team is available via phone, chat or email.

Once you get your Dojo setup, it will start to provide you with real-time status information and notifications. Even more insightful is that the Dojo App will keep you informed of all the devices connected to your Wi-Fi network, and lets you do other things to stop things from happening like:  block unauthorized devices, and keeps you informed of risk and privacy breaches when Dojo detects and blocks.

Dojo by BullGuard

Dojo also has a simple visual indicator to go along with the App notifications, the pebble will light as well. Green – Good, Yellow – Dojo found something and took care of it, Red – breach was blocked and may require input

Dojo by BullGuard

In the end Dojo by BullGuard brings Enterprise Grade Security to the home and all the smart devise connected to the network. It also offers you intelligent learning and is constantly studies your home network to enhance protection at all times.

As my girls get older and they want to be online more and more, I get worried about where they are going and what they are seeing. Thus, you can take control of screen time and even what your kids are seeing and even the applications that they are seeing.

I was amazed at how easily this works and I even found that through using the filters that they really work! I tested this with my oldest and turned off instagram. This wiped out her ability to see any pictures which was amazing. I turned the filter off but it really showed me the power of this device!

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

You turn on the news lately and all you hear about is doom and gloom and many times you hear story after story about people getting hacked, companies being infiltrated with virus attacks and it almost seems to be ?something you cannot avoid, or is it?

As a father of girls, I want to make sure that I am setting up my home environment to safeguard my whole family. and recently I have had the opportunity to try out the great new software for my computer called Freedome.

As a part of trying out this program I did more research for myself on safety and security and really looked deeply at how well this program worked. I have been using it now for about a month and have been letting it run on my own laptop all the time. One of the things that I have come to love was the ability to keep an eye on who’s around me which allows me to avoid opening myself up too much to others. At the same time I have been careful to shield my screen around others as well as what sites I save my passwords on. I can only imagine what could happen if I saved everything on my laptop and it was stolen!

As I have been traveling a lot over the last two weeks I have been using Freedome a lot and I have felt completely covered.

Hand coming through monitor typing on keyboard

After trying this personally I brought it and showed it at work too. Freedome has a great tool that lets you check your business against the threat of cyber-security breach. This test was amazing and really explored so many areas of potential threat and it really opened the eyes of everyone at my company and it will do the same for you too! So is your company a target? Try out the tool, you will not regret it!

About F-Secure-Freedome

  • It can protect you from tracking your every internet move on your mobile device and PC (Macs included).

Online Security, Keeping Your Personal Information Safe! #PrivacyIsNoGame

October 7, 2015 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

Wherever I am going I am looking for free online WIFI. Usually I can found this without a problem which is nice and saves me of effort in regards to the work that I am trying to accomplish. The problem though is that these free public networks have a lack of online security in place for the most part leaving you and your information quite open for outside attack.

With the prevalence of free WIFI and more and more reports of data getting stollen online, I have been asking the following question to myself: just how safe is public wifi?

freedome-secure

In looking into this further it did not take me long to find that in fact this is not safe at all! Now, while I tell my family and friends to avoid sharing personal information online, they still do, and this really makes you take a BIG chance on your livelihood, which is something that I am not ready to give up. As you try and let this sink in, when I am talking about personal data, this includes things like signing into your email, shopping online, paying bills, etc. By doing this in the public, you potentially could be sharing the next victim because it is just that, public.

So what is needed?

First and foremost you will want to check out the new Freedome by Freedome.

Freedome app can protect you from this invasion of you privacy, plus more.

  • It can protect you from tracking your every internet move on your mobile device and PC (Macs included).
  • It can change your virtual location so that your online security and privacy is protected while surfing.
  • It encrypts your data so that you can freely use public wifi without your information becoming publicly available.
  • It can block harmful sites and apps allowing for safer browsing, protecting your device all the while.

The Freedome has you covered completely!

Staying Connected No Matter Where I Go With NETGEAR

June 12, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

NETGEAR-Unite-Pro

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

As you might guess with the amount of posts that I share both here on dadofdivas.com and on all of the social networks that I share within, having a strong online network is important to me no matter where I go.

I am the type of person that likes to keep a clean house (metaphorically). When I go on vacation, even when my out-of-office message is on, I still feel that it is necessary to check my email so that I do not come back to hundreds and hundreds of messages as when this happens this feels to me as an insurmountable task to get out from under.

This is why I was so happy to have NETGEAR send me one of their new NETGEAR Unite Pro devices. When I was at the Dad 2.0 conference, I met with the folks from Netgear and found that this device connected to the ATT network which is what I used for my mobile carrier already, so jumping to this also made a lot of sense.

NETGEAR-Unite-Pro

Image taken with the Samsung NXMini

Outside of that though, what I loved about this device is that it is your own personal WIFI hub that you can take with you no matter where you go. So as long as there is an ATT signal, you can get a fast paced WIFI signal throughout your travels. This was great for my business travel for certain, but also for my personal travel.

No matter if it was a long car ride or a trip on an airplane, this WIFI hub was perfect. I could easily have the kids use this and keep them actively engaged.

This worked perfectly recently on a trip with the family as we traveled to visit family out of State. The trip was going to take us about 3.5 hours and while the kids did bring activities to do in the car, I decided to connect up the and simply let the kids hook in a new  that we had in our home. The kids were ecstatic and completely interested in the idea of having WIFI in the car. My oldest was super-excited to start taking pictures with her and then share the pictures immediately through her Instagram account. My youngest, on the otherhand was more interested in YouTube cat videos (go figure).

All of this being said, I have to say that the device itself was so small and inconspicious. It was was a snap to setup. We tend to have a pretty strong ATT wireless and data signal in and around our town, so it was nice to have this here. However, as mentioned, with the business and personal travel that we do, this makes things even more convenient!

The only thing that I hope or wish is that this product could be expanded for all of the other people outside of the ATT Wireless family as this product works so well and could benefit so many families!

Maximizing the benefits of the internet for your children

June 1, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Maximizing the benefits of the internet for your children

The list of benefits which the internet offers our children on a daily basis is endless. It can be a great resource for homework, watching their favorite television program, or playing games – but the internet is not always a safe place. The key thing is knowing how to manage this powerful resource so that our children only know about its benefits until they are old enough to learn about managing their online presence themselves.

Is there an internet appropriate age?

It can be difficult to know how old your child should be before you are comfortable letting them use the internet unsupervised. This is a personal decision which should reflect the relationship that you have with them. There is no one better placed to know whether their child is mature enough to understand the risks involved in using the internet than their parent or guardian. As a rough guideline, a Microsoft study has estimated that eight years old is the minimum age that children should be before going online by themselves.

Keep the adult content for the adults

There is a world of difference between the sites which adults should use and those which children use. While it’s perfectly acceptable and enjoyable to spend your Friday night enjoying some quality time in the VIP club of some online casinos, you wouldn’t want your children to accidentally get on there! Furthermore, there is a wealth of adult content on the internet which should be blocked from young (and impressionable) eyes.

What protection can be put into place?

Thankfully there is a wealth of help and programs to help adults keep children safe while online. The first step would be to install filters on all of the computers at home, not forgetting mobile phones and tablets, which the children have access to. These act as the first line of defense, blocking out any immediately hazardous content for children such as pornographic websites. There are lots of websites offering support for parents and guardians, such as the NSPCC, comment pieces, and government advice.

Educate yourself as well as your children

It would be worth spending some time to educate yourself about the developments in popular websites and programs to assist your child in navigating the web should they need it. The key thing is to remember that this is the beginning of a life-long relationship with the internet. As it changes and develops, so will your understanding of it and appreciation for the benefits that it offers both you and your family. Once you understand the risks you will be much better equipped to deal with any potential problems, should they arise.

ESET Smart Security 6 Makes You a Security Expert

October 1, 2013 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

ESET smart security 6
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Over the past month I have had the opportunity to try out ESET Smart Security 6 Antivirus & Anti-Theft Software. At the beginning I have ti say that I was far from a security expert. I was a mere fledgling when it came to this. That’s why I was so happy when I found out that the program had an extensive video learning system to prepare any visitor both new and old.
I decided to take the time to go through all of the steps to make sure that not only I have the whole system set up but rather that I am more “in the know” about things that are important when it comes to thinking about safety and security.

The training that they provided was easy to understand and totally complete. They went through a ton of the basics and then even more than that! Beyond that you get to take over the town as you learn more which I thought was fun too. Anyone can watch and learn and become an expert in their own right.

Outside of the training I have to say that I am still quite impressed with the program itself. You ended up with a great program that really does share so much with the user. I still love the facebook cleaner, even though it sometimes comes up with things that you don’t even realize..

All-in-all I still have to say that the program was a great one and one that I would recommend to all. The price is great and it gives you so much more than the regular Antivirus software does!

About the Program

ESET Smart Security 6 is an all-in-one Internet Security solution with new Anti-theft feature that locates your missing laptop and gives you tools to help recover it. Personal Firewall and Anti-Phishing keep your data safe from identity theft and other scams.

The ESET Smart Security 6 software program does more than just protect you from viruses, but it also gives you the power to:

  • Secure your computer and your assets
  • Safeguard your online identity
  • Surf the web with confidence
  • Enjoy the full power of your computer
  • Keep Kids Safe on the Internet
  • Customize to fit your needs

In each of the above you are given a ton of latitude with the ESET Smart Security 6 software to completely protect your computer. One of the features that I have never had in the past was the Anti-theft option that is provided. In only a few keystrokes you can rest assured that your computer has a geotag connected to it that can be tracked so if stolen, you can get it back!

ESET

The scanning feature in the ESET Smart Security 6 program is very complete and thoroughly examines every nook and cranny of the computer. The computer that I installed this on was fairly new and even with that I still found some issues that needed to be cleaned up and the program made it easy and even automatically cleaned some of the issues up without me even having to raise a finger. The one other thing that I appreciated was that when the scan was running my computer was not so bogged down by this process that I could not be multi-tasking on other things! The ESET Smart Security 6 program also gives you the ability to scan external items as well, so even if they are not physically on the hard drive you can still scan external hard drives, flash drives or other such media which again, in my perspective, is a great asset to have in a protection program.

The program also does a great job at walking you through the steps that you should be taking to safeguard your identity, giving you helpful hints about how to change your passwords, looking for phishing schemes and even configuring a personal firewall for your home that hackers will not be able to easily crack.

ESET smart security 6

One of the pieces of the program though that I was most excited about was the idea of keeping your kids safe on the internet. I have an almost nine year old and I know that I need to set up some definite parameters to curb her use of the computer and the internet, especially for the future. I had no idea what steps to take until I had this program. The program walks you step-by-step through everything that you need to be downloading and thinking about when it comes to your kids. For me, I downloaded Windows Life Family Safety which opened my eyes to setting up an account with my eldest daughter which would give me a ton of piece of mind to know what she is doing, when and how much time she is spending. On top of this though J-Mom and I have the ability to specifically ban internet sites and programs that we feel she should not be having access to. I am just scratching the surface, but I have to thank the makers of ESET Smart Security 6  for educating me completely on this – even though I know I have much still to learn!

Over the next two months I am working with ESET to share with you my thoughts on their new ESET Smart Security 6 Antivirus & Anti-Theft Software.  With so many software companies reporting to provide you with complete protection I have to say that for me I am always excited when I find the real deal, and so far from everything that I have seen, this software package seems to offer so much more than what I have had in the past from using other software packages.

PC Pandora Computer Monitoring Software FREE Giveaway For Internet Safety Month

June 27, 2010 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Earlier this month, the US Senate passed a resolution proclaiming June as “Internet Safety Month.” The motion comes as an effort to educate parents and children about the dangers of the Internet and spread awareness.

While most people will say that nothing in life is free and “everything has a price,” for the last week in June, Pandora Corp. is changing the rules. Beginning at 12:01 AM (Pacific Standard Time) on Saturday, June 26th, and continuing through midnight on Wednesday, June 30th, the company will be giving away its signature computer monitoring software, PC Pandora 6.0, absolutely free!

“We did a holiday giveaway in 2008 and it went very well,” says James Leasure, co-founder of Pandora Corp. “Unfortunately, the economy still hasn’t turned around for most folks yet, but the need for an effective solution to keep kids safe online this summer is still overwhelmingly present. So, we’d like to help the parents in need once again.”

During the last week in June, parents can visit www.pcpandora.com and use the code FREESUMMER2010 to get the current PC Pandora 6.0 absolutely free as a download. The giveaway will last until 11:59 PM (PST) on June 30th, 2010, or until 50,000 units have been given away. No catches. No strings.

During the 2008 holiday giveaway, over 35,000 parents were given a copy of PC Pandora for free. Pandora Corp. is hoping to help as many parents with the second free giveaway in the company’s history.

“The US Senate says this is the month for parents to educate themselves on the dangers of the Internet,” explains Leasure. “There is no better way to educate yourself than finding out and learning exactly what your children are doing online.”

[PC Pandora is computer monitoring software that records all activity on a computer. Firstate monitoring capabilities take sequential snapshots of everything that happens on the screen, thus allowing parents to see first-hand everything their child does both on and offline. Complete records of all user activity are presented in both text-based files and easy-toead charts. All instant messenger chats, emails sent and received, websites visited, peer-2-peer files shared, keystrokes logged, programs accessed, Internet search queries and more are recorded for parents to review.

“If your child is talking to strangers on social networks, creating multiple social network profiles, downloading illegal music and movies, falling victim to a cyberbully, or simply visiting websites you don’t approve of, you will know about it if you are monitoring their internet activity.”

For parents that have to work this summer and leave the kids home alone, PC Pandora comes equipped with the IRIS feature, which sends the recorded text-based files to a parent’s email at specified intervals.

But it’s the newest companion to PC Pandora 6.0 that makes monitoring kids on the Internet easier than ever before. PC Pandora LIVE! allows parents to access the data recorded by PC Pandora from anywhere in the world through a safe and secure SSL encrypted website. All a parent needs is an Internet connection and a web browser; users can even log in from their iPhones™ and other handheld devices.

“While the IRIS email report feature is a valuable tool for any parent, the LIVE! service is priceless,” says Leasure. “PC Pandora LIVE! allows you to review the data and adjust settings on the monitored computer. Not only can you can check web history and view instant messenger and email conversations, but you can also view the screenshots, update Internet filters, and fine-tune the parental control parameters, all while at work, on the road, or simply unable to be at home in front of the monitored computer.”

For parents monitoring multiple computers, PC Pandora LIVE! also collects the data from all machines with PC Pandora 6.0 installed and provides that data in a single place for easy review. This makes it easier to review a child’s activity – no more emails to comb through and no more having to manually view the data on multiple computers.

Typical filters and standard blocks are easy for savvy young users to circumnavigate, but if you have computer monitoring software, you’ll know what your children are doing and be able to act appropriately.

Leasure states: “This summer, parents need to know what their kids are doing online. Our PC Pandora 6.0 monitoring software coupled with the LIVE! service is the best all-around defense parents can get to help keep their children safe on the Internet. If someone is approaching a child with ill intentions, or if a child is engaging in risky behavior, the parent will know and can act immediately.”

Pandora Corp. is offering a fully-functional copy of PC Pandora 6.0, a $70 value, absolutely free for their Internet Safety Month giveaway. Leasure adds, “While we unfortunately can’t offer the LIVE! service for free at this time, it’s a reasonably priced add-on for parents who want the convenience and extra measure of safety it provides.”

Parents interested in getting a copy of PC Pandora can go to www.pcpandora.com and use the code FREESUMMER2010 at checkout to get PC Pandora 6.0 for FREE!

About PC Pandora:
Pandora Corporation was formed with one goal – to help our customers monitor, control and protect their families and themselves online. First released in mid 2005, PC Pandora has been constantly upgraded to industry-leading specifications and has received accolades from users, reviewers and even school districts and law enforcement agencies, who use the program to help in the day-to-day supervision of the children and citizens they are charged with protecting. The company website devotes space to helping parents by providing them with 18 Tips to Safe Surfing and Pandora’s Blog, where current news in the world of online safety is discussed regularly. In addition, the Pandora Corp. has made the PD Pandora Internet Safety Symposium available to schools and law enforcement as a free resource for spreading internet safety awareness to parents. Over the past few years, PC Pandora has vaulted into a leadership position for parental control software by boasting a combination of features that are unparalleled in the monitoring industry. In 2010, Version 6.0 was released, again widening the spectrum of coverage and protection offered by the program. Concurrently released with 6.0, the web-based PC Pandora LIVE! service affords parents the ability to keep their kids safe from anywhere at anytime. PC Pandora is also now available through the Pandora Corp. store at Amazon.com.
