Old School Gaming on the Retro Handheld Console

November 3, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Retro Handheld COnsole

About the Retro Handheld Console

So what’s the 411? 80s kids are going to love this Retro Handheld Console. From classic games like Tic Tac Toe and Connect Four to shooting the enemy and collecting coins, you’ll be sure to find some of your old favorites. Bring back all that nostalgia and all the fun (without the need for a bag of coins). It’s pretty fly and it’s all that and a bag of chips.

It looks retro, enables you to play old school 8-bit games – yet it’s portable and fits in your pocket! Bringing all the best bits from the 80s + 90’s to the now. Over 150 games included. Rad.

My Take on the Retro Handheld Console

If you love old school gaming, this Retro Handheld Console will be something that you will completely love. The RETRO Handheld Console is filled with a ton of games. There are so many games to choose from. Now, you do have to realize that this will be gaming like you had in the last 1980’s and early 1990’s so graphics will be old-school as well.

I found that the game play was a ton of fun and with the large number of games that are available you can simply get lost for hours trying games that are similar to ones you have played before and completely new ones too.

I found games that were a blast and some that I did not completely care for, but I would expect that in a system with hundreds of games.

I loved how portable this was and because of this you could bring it with you no matter where you went. Also, you get a lot of gameplay on the batteries that you put into the unit itself.

All-in-all this was a lot of fun and if you love gaming and especially old-school gaming, then this would be the unit for you!

Make a Little ‘Me Time’: The Importance of Making Time for Yourself as a Busy Dad

March 14, 2017 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

In a hectic family life, everyone needs to make time for themselves. There is a lot of focus on moms making time for themselves but no-one really thinks about dad’s needing to do this as well. The modern dad is much more involved and with flexible working, dads are playing a more active part in their children’s lives and sharing the childcare role.

Managing a busy schedule dominated by work and the demands of the family dads need to consciously make time for themselves to ensure they have a balanced and happy life.

Get Physical

Being active and getting some exercise is a great way to get some me time. Whether you push yourself in the gym, enjoy pounding the streets or prefer team sports, spending time exercising not only gives you a mental break but also is good for your health, enabling you to be fitter and more active with your family.

Golf is a game loved by so many men and it’s understandable why when it gets you away from all the hassles of your life and you get to stroll around a great golf course chasing that amazing shot. It combines some of the things that men love the most, competition, and somewhere that the family cannot interrupt or join in.

Team sports are not only great exercise but also social activities too, especially if you get the chance to have a beer or two afterwards. Dig out your old football boots and re-join the lads for some 5 aside fun. If you don’t have enough players or want to find a team check out Gumtree for ads looking for players.

soccer

If you are not that keen on actively taking part or have become more of an avid spectator that is great too as it gives you an ideal outlet with regular fixtures to watch. Enjoy the games on your own or with friends for a bit of competition and banter to distract you from the daily grind.

Disappear into a Different Reality

Gaming is a classic pastime that allows you to immerse yourself in another world and to leave your worries behind you. With your lounge being taken over by the little people you often need to find somewhere else to get your gaming fix. If you are not lucky enough to have a man cave then you might like do some online gaming on your phone. Using your phone will enable you to enjoy gaming at any time when you can spare a few minutes, whether it’s on your commute, lunch break or anywhere.

fantastic

App stores are brimming with all different types of games from racing games like Asphalt 8: Airborne, through to strategic war games like Mobile Strike. If you like to have a bet, there are mobile casinos to try your luck on where you can play classic casino games, slot machines and bingo. You may think bingo, that’s not a very manly pursuit, but bingo is no longer just the hobby for elderly women. Why not give it a go and see if it gets you hooked with new member offers on bingo sites such as “spend 10 play with 50”? You might get lucky!

TV Addict

TV

Even if you can’t get away from the house much these days there are plenty of movies and box sets to devour to enable you to relax and unwind after a busy day and facing the challenges of being a parent. Over the years you have probably missed some great TV series so invest in some box sets and binge watch some TV. If you need some inspiration or want some good reviews, ask friends or colleagues or visit a film and TV review site like Rotten Tomatoes to discover reviews before you purchase them. Top of your list if you missed them could be zombie series The Walking Dead or political drama House of Cards.

Whatever your favorite hobbies are, try to ensure you don’t lose sight of them among your hectic family life. Even if you can’t dedicate as much time as you use to or you’d like, allocate yourself some time each week to enjoy them and agree with your partner when each of you will benefit from your own time. Ensuring that you both get some ‘me time’ to be yourself not a parent will make you not only happier but better parents.

My Take on the System

As someone that grew up on the NES system in the 1980’s the system was an amazing throwback to the games that I loved growing up. There were some of the games that I loved most in this system as a part of the 30 games that were included such as Kid Icarus, Metroid, Castlevania, Mega Man and many more! This is a system that I have been waiting to be re-released for a long time and now the wait is over. This is a must have for anyone that is a Nintendo NES fan and something that would be a great gift for any gamer!

See below for a few more of my thoughts!

Getting On The Road With Nintendo This Summer!

May 5, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Nintendo
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

As all of you that may have been following me for a while, about a month ago I took my family to Niagara Falls, Canada. We had some great times visiting the Skylon Tower, Bird Kingdom, Ripley’s Believe it Or Not,Niagara Helicopters, and of course Niagara Falls as well.

Going on such a long trip you can bet that we needed to make sure that we had tons to do and Nintendo helped us along the way. They sent us the backpack filled with all of the items that you see here and let me tell you they were amazing! The kids were so thrilled to have all of these items and they were very excited to try out the new games that they sent and the new too.

It was going to take us about 5.5 hours each way to get to Niagara Falls and back, and while we knew we could bring a movie, books, coloring and activity books and a bit more to pass the time, but with this and the Nintendo items we were good to go.

Keeping the kids engaged was important for me as I knew that if the kids were actively engaged, the time would pass quickly and I came to find that it worked.

The kids loved the Nintendo and its’ games. The games were so interactive and they especially loved playing the game as this was one that they had been wanting to play for some time.

There are so many great games to choose from Nintendo and beyond that can be used as a part of the pack and there are so many great games that are action packed, but also ones that are educational as well. This mix allows a parent to know that they can actually learn while on the 3DS and have fun while passing the time too.

The battery on the 3DS lasted much longer than I thought it would which was great, but also, with the charger that we had, I was able to charge it along the way too in the car which was perfect.

While my daughters did not play the 3DS the entire time, the time they did spent playing it was enjoyable. The challenge of course with two kids is sharing, as both want the newest and best. We worked through those issues though and even now, when we are back to our everyday lives, they still want to play with the system which shows me that it is definitely technology worth keeping for the long haul!

If you are going on a long trip and are looking for technology that is long lasting and offers entertainment, engagement, action, mystery and so much more, I encourage you to check out what Nintendo can offer. Especially now before you may take that first family vacation of the summer, don’t wait, be ready for when you do!
