Some days, moms get all the credit. Dads give their share of love, time and devotion. They work long hours, help with homework, and all those random household fix-ups that no one wants to touch. There are those dads who are beyond superheroes…making dinner, cleaning, and coaching little league games.
Dads deserve some love, appreciation and some not so quiet thanks. While Father’s Day is a few months away, surprise dad with a gift of gratitude…simply because. For the little things he does each day, often quietly and without anyone’s knowledge…or acknowledgement. Let him know you see him, appreciate him and love him for all he does. And has done.
Here are 10 great “just because” gifts to surprise dad for being the best!
A favorite movie.
Dads—like moms—usually never take time to themselves. If your dad loves movies, buy him one of his favorites. Choose a streaming version or an actual DVD, and then treat him to a movie night (make sure to buy some popcorn!).
A day of fun.
Most dads have an inner kid screaming to get out. Treat dad to a day of go-karts, bumper boats and crazy video games. You’ll find out pretty quickly that dad is a big kid at heart…and don’t worry, you don’t have to let him win!
Take him out the ballgame.
Some dads live and breathe sports. If he loves his home team, schedule a family day at the ballpark or stadium. Complete the day with all the must-have treats like hot dogs, nachos and ice-cream.
A day of quiet.
All parents want some time to chill and relax. Give dad the day to himself to do whatever it is that he wants to do. In peace and quiet.
A special delivery.
Who doesn’t love receiving a package? Send dad some cool treats. Order his favorite candy and have it delivered for a sweet treat that he’ll love! You also can send him a cool cookie bouquet or some fun novels you think he might love.
Down the tube.
If dad loves the water, head out for a day at the water park. Take on the tube slides and crazy raft rides. Then plop on a tube and chill out on the lazy river to catch some sun and enjoy the water. End the day with sno-cones or slushies. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Pedal to the metal
Start your engines! Give dad an experience he will NEVER forget—a racecar ride! Splurge for dad to drive a racecar on the tracks. Or he can ride along for a three-lap experience. There are many options via Nascar Racing Experience.
Surprise dad at work by having lunch delivered to him. Order from his favorite restaurant (just be sure they deliver) and cater to dad’s hungry side. And don’t forget dessert!
A surprise gift card.
Slip him a surprise gift card. Whether it’s for coffee, lunch, music or a favorite store, give dad a little surprise to make sure he splurges on him!
Bake him something sweet!
The best gifts are homemade…and baked! Show dad you care by baking up his favorite cookies, cake or pie. And do not take a piece for yourself! This is all for dad!
Dads do so much each day. And, let’s face it, we don’t thank them nearly enough. Mom tends to get the most hugs. Dad usually stoically stands ready and willing. Show him how much you care with a surprise gesture that will take him completely off guard. And don’t forget to tell him ‘thanks.’
