It’s almost Father’s Day and that means looking for some unique products to show moms that you care. Below are a few items that I recently found that you might want to consider!
Prince of Divas – A Father’s Day Tribute
Happy Father’s Day to all of you Dads out there! Instead of hearing from Dad of Divas (DOD) today, J-Mom is taking over the keyboard today and giving DOD a day of rest and relaxation. Now, let me start by saying that I am not a blogger and was a bit turned off by the prospect of typing my thoughts for all of the world to see. DOD assured me that all I have to do is type whatever thoughts come into my head…so here goes!
First, let me start by saying that DOD and I will celebrate our ten year anniversary in a few weeks and I knew right from the start that he would someday be a great dad. He is the kind of person who makes the relationships in his life of utmost importance. We spent almost six years together before deciding that we were ready (and in a good place financially) to have children. In that amount of time DOD earned his Master’s degree, completed the coursework toward his doctoral degree, wrote his discertation and established himself in his profession. I have always been amazed by his level of energy and committment and how it seems that he can accomplish more in a day than most people. These qualities would definitely serve him well when Diva-J came along. She is her father’s child in so many ways! She has an endless amount of energy, creativity and ideas. He is the only person I know who has enough energy to keep up with her.
When Diva-PJ was born this past February, we knew he was destined to be a DOD. I’m sure there is a part of him that would have been happy to have a little boy to carry on the family name and add some testosterone to our house…what guy wouldn’t, but I know that his destiny is part of a larger plan. There are some guys who are blessed with girls for a special reason. There are some guys who have the extra love, understanding, gentleness, supportiveness and caring nature that it takes to be a DOD. My husband is such a man. There are some guys who will encourage their girls and let them know that there’s nothing they can’t do. My husband is such a man. There are some guys who will lead by example and give their girls a picture of what a loving husband should be like. My husband is such a man. When a DOD does all of those things, he becomes more than a dad…he becomes the Prince to those divas. My husband is such a man.
Being a DOD and having many other responsibilities, I know DOD biggest struggle is how to balance all of the pieces of his life. He wants to be able to give 110% to all facets of his personal and professional life even though he knows that is never possible. Even though he holds a job which makes many demands on his time separate from his daytime hours, the divas and I know that everything he does is for us as a family. We know that all of his different committments and activities make him who he is and we think he’s pretty special. We know that when we need him, he will be there. And really, what more can anyone ask for in a dad? I can confidently say that when it comes time for our girls to choose a partner to grow old with, they will have had the best example of important qualities in a man and will look for those qualities in their own relationships. That, to me, is evidence of success.
Pre-Father’s Day Thoughts
As father’s day approaches, I have to reflect for me on what it means for me to be a Dad. As I mentioned in my first Manly Monday post, my father has made a huge influence on me….especially as I have gotten older. I find myself becoming more and more like him as the days go on. This is not always a bad thing, but there are some traits that can be troublesome at times.
When J-Mom and I got married, I think I always knew I wanted to be a father, but she and I decided to wait for a while before having Diva-J (6 years to be exact). When we did finally decide to try and get pregnant, it took longer than we had first expected, but happened none-the-less.
Diva’J’s birth was a bit of a drawn out drama, with after about 17 hours of labor, we ended up having to have an emergency C-Section. Everyone came out of it ok, just very tired. Well…needless to say when I had to dress in my scrubs and go into the room where the C-Section would occur and I saw J-Mom there, I was just filled with so many emotions…fear, anticipation, excitement, etc. etc. etc.
Now an emergency C-section does not take that long, especially after 17 hours of labor, so I did my duty and comforted J-Mom as best I could and waited to be able to meet our baby (as we did not know the sex until Diva-J was born). When finally Diva-J made her appearance, the doctor said to me ” what do you think we have here?” Well to be honest I had to take a second to look, as a newborn is a bit wrinkled up and finally she said “it’s a girl”, making sure I noticed the right anatomy parts (Which I did)..and there she was, and our life changed in a new and wondrous way.
I look at my life now and realize that there is now never a day when I don’t think about how my actions will impact not only my wife, but now my girls as well. I think about how I want things to be (which is not always possible – at least not now), and what I might be able to do to be able to accomplish these goals. I definitely have fears and issues in being a father, but what father doesn’t.
Just the other day I talked to a friend who learned recently that he was going o be a father in December. I asked him how he was feeling about this, was he excited or scared? Now, his reaction I think would be the reaction of man out there, he stated he was scared. I think it is a scary thought to consider the magnitude of being a father and how important fathers are to the upbringing of their child/children. I did my best to comfort and support my friend, but know that he will have to do whatever he has to do overall to be able to be the best father he can be.
There are many fathers out there who cannot say that there fathers were role models to emulate. I can honestly say that my father is one I would choose to emulate in many ways. I also have a father-in-law who shows me now how important fathers can be, so I am truly a lucky Dad.
So what about all of you Dads out there? What does it mean to be a Dad? Also, if you are really ambitious, go over to Discovering Dad to see his recent post and contest he is running, or even over to Joeprah for some fun and possible contest winnings as well!

Give A Great Gift To a Dad With The Manly Man Company

Sometimes it is not always easy to come up with the perfect gift for a dad, but that is where the Manly Man Company comes in!
About the Manly Man Company
Origin Story
The idea for the Manly Man Company® came to Greg Murray after a simple conversation with his wife Jacquie, for whom he had recently bought a bouquet of flowers: Why isn’t there a gift for men that’s equivalent to flowers? Yes, you can buy men flowers, but the practice isn’t what you might call commonplace. The couple speculated that a bouquet of beef jerky might be the perfect stand-in. Soon after his wife surprised Greg with the very first iteration of what is now called “Man Bouquets”— sticks and sheets of jerky carved into the shape of flowers and roses that are presented inside a pint glass or beer mug “vase”.
Veteran-Owned Business
After the Murray’s discovered man bouquets were the perfect solution for the dilemma of what to get “him” for Valentine’s Day, during their first week in operation, Greg called a high school classmate with him he enlisted in the Marine Corps— Ben Wynkoop, to join Greg and Jacquie as the third Co-Founder, to efficiently place their custom products in front of as many people as possible, online.

Dads in the Limelight – Comic & TV Personality Al Jackson
Our 876th Dad in the Limelight is Comic and TV Personality Al Jackson. I want to thank Al Jackson for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing Al Jackson with all of you.

1.Tell me about yourself (as well as how you are in the limelight for my reader’s knowledge).
My name is Al Jackson and I’m a 41-year-old father of 3 from Cleveland, OH. My initial passion was science so I studied biology both in undergrad and graduate school. I attended graduate school in Florida at Barry University and studied biomedical sciences. I am most well-known from being a middle school teacher who turned into a nationally touring standup comic and television personality. My big breakout was getting a Comedy Central half hour specially. I was the host of BBC’s Officially Amazing for 100 episodes, I was a character on Jim Jeffries Legit, which aired on FX, and I have appeared on Comedy Central doing standup 10 times. I am now a cohost on the nationally syndicated television show Daily Blast Live, which airs daily all over the country. I also host a podcast with the famous impressionist Frank Caliendo, I’m a regular guest and co-host of the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show and I’m currently on tour with Hannibal Buress.
2. Tell me about your family.
My family consists of three children: Abrian (age 12), Elijah (age 10) and Baby Ford (age 4). No matter how old he gets, I will always call him Baby Ford.

3. What has been the largest challenge you have had in being a father?
I believe my challenges as a father mirror a lot of parent’s challenges in 2019 in that most adults have at least 1 job and some of us have two or three Often times, our jobs take us away from those who we love the most, our children, and I am no different. Between touring nationally as a standup comic and working in a state away from my children, I’ve had to be creative in ways that I keep in contact with them. I’m only able to see them on the weekends because my show films in Denver.
One of the largest challenges I’ve had to face as a father has been to learn to not over-parent. The love that you have for your children is the most special thing that you’ll ever feel or experience, but it also has to be kept in check so you don’t end up becoming a helicopter or smothering parent. Allowing your child make mistakes, bump their head, succeed and fail on their own is difficult, but you have to understand that it’s all part of them becoming the person they are meant to be.
4. What advice would you give to other fathers?
My advice to other fathers is to understand that there is a duality and a balance to being a father. You have to be a mentor, a role model, a disciplinarian and dozens of other roles, but while you’re doing these things, you can’t forget to be their friend, to see the world as they do, laugh with them, and create a special bond. You must be more than someone who just decides yes or no until they are old enough to make those decisions on their own. You can’t be so absorbed in the responsibility that you lose sight of the things that make life fun.

5. How have you come to balance parenthood and outside life?
I think for myself, balancing parenthood and outside life is understanding that you’re rarely going to have a large chunk of time that you always imagine you’re going to have. You’ll rarely have the uninterrupted time you desire to be with your children. Those times should be embraced and cherished, but don’t forget to value the moments and not just the hours. Value those minutes in the car when you can connect with them and ask them a real question. The times when you have 15 minutes and can really listen to them and what’s going on in their world. It’s important to understand that all time is precious. Moments come and go and don’t necessarily happen in four or five hour chunks so appreciate all that time you’re given.
6. What have you learned from the fathers that you have interacted with?
I’ve learned that we’re all flying by the seat of our pants. The fathers who I’ve learned the most from aren’t afraid to tell their kids that they don’t know the answer to something and they realize that there’s an amazing journey to be had by finding out the answer together.

7. What else would you share regarding your experiences as a father thus far?
I would share that it’s ok to be afraid from time to time. It’s ok to worry about them, but understand that somebody worried about you in the same manner and you turned out just fine. For a long time with my kids, I constantly hovered over them, literally shielding them from physical harm and shielding them from things that might hurt them emotionally. But I realized that I was neutering their experiences as young people who need these life moments. They need the things that can result in joy as well as the things that sometimes result in pain and disappointment.
8. What have been the most memorable experiences that you have had thus far as a parent?
There are so many memories it’s hard to pinpoint one, so I’ll speak in generalities because it’s ongoing. With my daughter, it’s been watching her personality develop. She is a warrior. She is kind hearted, smart, beautiful and talented. I’ve been able to watch her personality develop where I’ve seen her start to crack jokes, being sarcastic like her father, I’ve seen her be gentle, even to people who have tried to bully her, and it’s made me stand back in awe and take pride in being able to say I was a part of this human being’s development.
For my middle son Elijah, his intellect and his ability to figure things out shocks me. He is an expert video game player and just all around analytical kid. With him, I’ve had to do something that no one ever had to do with me: I’ve had to allow him to be upset with himself if he didn’t get an A on a test. And trust me, no one ever had to do that with me. C+ was ok in Al Jackson’s book.
For my youngest son Baby Ford, watching him be as distinct a personality as I’ve ever encountered has been amazing. He is strong willed, tough as nails, and probably a future NFL full back. He is completely different from me and his siblings and has definitely rounded out the puzzle of my life.
If you have any questions for Al Jackson, please leave a comment here and I will make sure that he gets them so that he may be able to respond!

When it comes to fathers day, sometimes you want to have something that will allow you to preserve the memories that you experience everyday. Just recently I ran across the new Expression® Premium XP-6000 Small-in-One®,which is an amazing printer that does a little bit of everything for dads today.
As a dad who loves to travel as well as take photos, the Expression Premium XP-6000 delivers fast print speeds and superior photo quality, ideal for the multi-tasking dad printing everything from travel itineraries, rental car reservations and boarding passes, to customized coloring pages to keep kids entertained on the road. You can do all this while multitasking and enjoying hassle-free, PC-free printing from his iPad®, iPhone® and Android™ tablets or smartphone devices, so you can plan and print without missing out on playtime with the kids.

For me, this was the perfect printer, as I have been getting ready for a trip that my family and I will be taking. We are going to Hendersonville, North Carolina at the end of June and I have so many things that I need to print. However, when I print I do not want to wait. I want to be able to get things done quickly as I know I have about 10 other things to accomplish in the wings. After getting the printer setup (which was super simple), I found that the printer was very fast for regular copies and even in trying to print out a photo for my daughter, it did not take longer than the 15 seconds that it mentioned. This is the type of printer that really saves me time which in the end allows me to do more and be so much more productive, leaving me more time to just be a dad!

Here’s How You Can Support Dads on Father’s Day With Facebook

- Send a personalized card: This Sunday you might see a message from Facebook in your News Feed letting you know it’s Father’s Day and inviting you to share art and photo cards with a dad or loved one. On mobile, you can personalize some of the cards by adding a photo, and if you have a father or child listed as a relationship on Facebook, some of the cards may pre-fill with both of your profile pictures.
- Brighten up your photos: In Facebook Camera, you can find a new set of Father’s Day stickers as well as colorful Father’s Day-themed frames. If you swipe to the right of News Feed, you can find the frames in the effects tray or use the stickers after you’ve taken or uploaded a photo.
- Support a cause in honor of dad: In the US, start a Facebook fundraiser for a personal and/or nonprofit cause in honor of dad. You can raise money for yourself, a friend or someone or something not on Facebook.
- Go Live with dad: Families who can’t be together this Father’s Day can still enjoy the day together. Live With lets you invite others into your live broadcast, so you can share your screen and hang out in Live, even if you’re in different places. You can use it to celebrate dad by inviting him to join you on Live and sharing how much he means to you, all alongside friends and family.

- Chat with dad: Celebrate dad with the whole family by joining a group video call on Messenger. All you have to do is jump into an existing group conversation with your family, or create a new one. Then tap on the video icon on the upper right of the screen to enter the video chat, and everyone in the group will be notified. You can also use Messenger Camera to create customized photos and videos with Father’s Day-themed frames. And as an extra “thank you,” you can even use Messenger bots to find the perfect gift for dad.
- Add a sticker to your Instagram story: You can find a new set of stickers to help celebrate Father’s Day. Whether you’re spending the day with your dad or sharing your love from afar, just open the camera and take a photo or video, then add as many stickers as you want.
