Cheribundi ( @cheribundi ) Review and #Giveaway

February 9, 2013 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

Cheribundi
If you aren’t familiar with this product, Cheribundi is a premium tart cherry juice.  As you may know, tart cherries offer many benefits for runners, climbers and other athletes, as well as those suffering from gout, arthritis and inflammatory disease.  Runners in particular find that tart cherry juice reduces pain and inflammation, and aids in muscle recovery.  Tart cherries also contain natural melatonin, which promotes more restful sleep. You can learn more about Cheribundi, our original flavors and the benefits of tart cherries on our web site at www.cheribundi.com.
Starting January 1, Cheribundi introduced 16.9 oz juice and tea blends that contain 20 cherries per bottle but are aimed more at the casual beverage consumer rather than athletes.  The drinks are hydrating and are meant to be something you might drink with lunch rather than something you’d use as a supplement.
Cheribundi
My Take on the Product
I am a big fan of healthy eating and using juices to make my own life healthier. I actually usually have a smoothie every morning is made for 100% fruit and vegetables. Thus, you can probably guess that I am kind of a stickler when it comes to good tasting juices that are good for you. I’ve heard of this company before but never tried their products ( the I have wanted to). I am also a big fan of cherries, so this time of year it is hard to find them in the local grocery stores is because of where I live ( in Michigan).
First and foremost when I received the juices/teas I was quite impressed with the variety that I received as it was not expecting as fast of a variety as was available. I decided to jump right in and tried one which is a combination of cherry and pomegranate him and it had 25% fruit juice within it ( there was a mix of juices that had 25% and some that had 5% fruit juice). In trying this juice I was quite impressed with the taste itself. There is a slight cherry taste that underlines the overall taste of the pomegranate itself which is very nice and quite refreshing.
I did like what I tried though I probably would have also enjoyed to have tried something with a higher juice content within it… to me 5% is quite low and even 25% is lower than I typically would drink. I think there may have been issues though if the content of the juice was closer to 100% due to the tartness of the cherries themselves.

Owillverall, I was quite impressed with the variety and taste of the juice and tea samples that I received. If you enjoy cherries this new product is definitely one you want to take a look at and definitely try for yourself. I think you too will find that it is a nice blend of cherries and other fruits/teas that will both refresh you and tickle the taste buds.

2012 New Year, New Cocktails program by @Truvia Will Amaze You!

February 4, 2012 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

I was asked recently to try and use Truvia to make some great new Cocktails for the new year. Seeing that I had not used Truvia much in the past I was interested to see what their recipes would taste like when using Truvia.

For me I tried out making the Hurricane as well as the Simple Syrup and I have to say that I was surprised to find how great the drink tasted as well as how easy it was to make. On top of the Hurricane I was happy to see how easy it was to make the simple syrup.  Going to the store and buying this you will pay at least $4.00 for a smaller bottle. You can save a ton of money by making your own (like you see below) and I have to say that I did not notice much difference in the overall flavor!

All-in-all these recipes were great and I will say that I was impressed to find how well Truvia works with the preparation of these drinks. If you are looking for a low calorie, great tasting alternative, look no  further than Truvia!

Take a look at the below twelve recipes and let me know what sounds good to you!

Turning the Clock Back Making Ends Meet My Life with Rats and More Confessions of an Overworked Mom Dad of Divas

My next giveaway is Below!

libre tea large mug, dad of divas, blog pop giveawayAbout the Product
The Libre glass ’n poly large is the ‘big gulp’ of tea with a 14 oz. capacity. It has a health-conscious glass interior for fresh taste and a durable polycarbonate exterior for ‘on the go’ durability. The stainless steel tea filter is surrounded by BPA free polypropylene as is the lid interior. Can be used 2 ways to brew and travel with loose leaf tea.

Volume: 14 Oz

Size: approximately 8.75” tall, 3.0” diameter

Materials: glass, BPA free polycarbonate, stainless steel

Price: $32.50 CAD

My Take on the Product

The combination thermal cup with a glass interior and durable poly carbonate exterior, has its own BPA free lid that is twisted onto a removable BPA free filter. You place loose leaf tea on the filter, add hot water, twist on the filter and top, turn it upside down and steep your tea to the strength you enjoy.

Using this tea glass was easy. I  have used tea balls or spoons and even paper pouches for brewing my loose leaf tea in the past. Once the tea is brewed, you unscrew the lid and the filter .  The tea is ready to drink. The tea glass has a sturdy handle which makes it easy to use while you drink.

A really nice feature is there is lid so if you are taking your tea-to-go, you can keep it warm until you are ready to drink it.

I see this valuable to a serious tea drinker!  Enjoy!

Valentines Day – Seattle’s Best Curiosity Pack Giveaway!

February 3, 2011 by dadofdivas 38 Comments

People are passionate about their coffee and many would go as far as saying they truly “love” coffee. Last week, Seattle’s Best Coffee introduced a new line of iced canned lattes. We would like to offer your readers an opportunity to be amongst the first to try the new blends. In addition, we would also include a “Curiosity Pack” filled with sample sized bags of our new Levels coffee (five blends labeled “1” through “5” in order of the strength of the roast), so that you can experience their true coffee love this Valentine’s Days.

Seattle’s Best New Iced Coffee

Seattle’s Best Coffee, part of Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX), today announced the latest addition to its “Anywhere Great Coffee is NeededTM” strategy: its new line of iced canned lattes.  Following a successful West Coast test in 2010, this marks the brand’s entrance in the $1.4 billion dollar U.S. ready-to-drink category.  This move capitalizes on the growing trend in iced coffee beverages that according to the NPD Group accounts for about 20 percent of sales in coffeehouses and quick serve restaurants with more than 1.2 billion servings in 2010.

Made with the same premium coffee as the Seattle’s Best Coffee hand-crafted beverages, the line includes an Iced Latte, Iced Vanilla Latte and Iced Mocha Latte each with 130 calories.  Through the North American Coffee Partnership (NACP), a joint venture between Starbucks Corporation and PepsiCo, Inc., the lattes will be available in major grocery, convenience and other retail stores beginning in late January with a suggested retail price of $1.49 for a single 9.5-ounce can and $4.99 for a four-pack.  Building on the “Anywhere Great Coffee Is Needed” campaign that debuted earlier in the year, the product line will be supported this spring by a significant marketing campaign that will use the brand’s fun and optimistic voice to show many ways the new Seattle’s Best iced lattes can now be enjoyed.

“With this move we’re continuing to deliver on our ‘Anywhere Great Coffee Is Needed’ strategy by bringing a new kind of convenience to iced coffee, which is the fastest growing segment in premium coffee,” said Michelle Gass, president, Seattle’s Best Coffee.  “Through our test we confirmed that consumers are looking for a great tasting iced coffee beverage in an on-the-go format and at only 130 calories per serving, it’s a product they can enjoy at breakfast and throughout the day.”

The national roll-out follows a successful year for Seattle’s Best Coffee.  Under the new Starbucks Corporation multi?brand portfolio strategy, Seattle’s Best Coffee is accelerating its growth to reach new customers and occasions. Key to the Seattle’s Best Coffee growth strategy is a complete revitalization of the 40?year?old brand and a new business direction that fully leverages its multi?channel strategy to bring great coffee everywhere.  To date, the brand has expanded the number of locations consumers can get a freshly brewed cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee® from 3,000 in 2009 to more than 40,000; launched the Level System, an innovative and radically simplified packaged coffee line that makes finding the right coffee as easy as 1-2-3-4-5; and seen a ten?fold increase in interest among potential franchisees as it has continued to expand its retail footprint.

Seattle’s Best Levels of Taste

Seattle’s Best Coffee®, part of Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX), today announced a radically simplified packaged coffee line designed to change the conventions of the coffee category.  The Seattle’s Best Coffee “Level” System delivers great tasting, premium coffee with an expanded blend offering in conjunction with an innovative and bold new packaging concept.  The Level System’s unique array of numbers and vivid colors tell consumers exactly what they want to know: which type of coffee fits their taste profile. Seattle’s Best Coffee is the first brand in the coffee category to offer this unique approach, which will begin hitting grocery and retail store shelves in December 2010.

For Seattle’s Best Coffee, the Level System represents a move to bring simplicity to the coffee aisle today, while growing the brand’s market share in the premium coffee segment.  The packaged coffee market in the U.S. is a $3.6 billion dollar industry according to AC Nielsen*, and research shows shoppers today are sometimes overwhelmed by coffee choices.

“The Level System represents a bold step forward in the packaged coffee category, and Seattle’s Best Coffee is leading the way,” said Michelle Gass, president, Seattle’s Best Coffee. “We’re making it easy for consumers to find the coffee that’s right for them.  For premium coffee drinkers, the Level System is a simple way to explore taste profiles, and for mainstream coffee drinkers, it is an invitation to enter the premium coffee segment with confidence and ease.”

With the new Level System, consumers will be able to easily find and choose from a selection of Seattle’s Best Coffee blends that span the entire range of coffee enjoyment, from a mild, light, crisp Level 1 to a bold, dark and intense Level 5.  Each Level represents a finely tuned recipe crafted from decades of roasting experience, blended from beans carefully chosen for their nuances and characteristics, and carrying the hallmark taste of Seattle’s Best Coffee: velvety, round and smooth.

In addition to Levels 1 through 5, consumers can choose from a decaffeinated blend, an Organic Fair Trade CertifiedTM blend and flavored coffees Cinnamon (“C”) and Hazelnut (“H”).   The new Level System lineup will begin replacing the existing Seattle’s Best Coffee products on shelves beginning in December.

According to AC Nielsen data, 85 percent of all coffee sold is listed as medium and light.  Before the new Level System, Seattle’s Best Coffee only offered choices in the medium and dark ranges.  By expanding its line-up and developing two new coffee blends and roasts, Level 1 and Level 2, Seattle’s Best Coffee is appealing to the growing base of consumers who enjoy a lighter blend but may be looking to trade up into the premium segment.

As part of the Starbucks Corporation, the Seattle’s Best Coffee brand leverages the same supply chain and quality controls as the Starbucks brand.  This means working side by side with farmers and cultivating decades-long relationships to ensure quality standards are met around the world. This dedication to responsibly grown, ethically traded coffee ensures access to the premium beans used in the Seattle’s Best Coffee Level System.

“Ultimately, people select coffee based on taste and that can be hard to determine in today’s coffee aisle,” said Andrew Linnemann, director, Green Coffee Quality, Starbucks Corporation.  “Seattle’s Best Coffee is known for its smooth taste profile.  Each Level has been sourced, blended and roasted with care and precision to meet consumers’ desire to simply enjoy a great tasting cup of coffee.”
