A Great Tie Makes A Guy Like Me Look Good!

I dress professionally daily. I work at a college and work with professional students and as a part of that I dress in a suit and tie everyday. Sometimes J-Mom likes to say that I have too many ties for my own good, but for me, I say the tie completes the outfit.

With that in mind I am always looking for unique ties that I can wear with my outfits. Beau Ties is an amazing website with a wide array of ties that ranged everything from  Bow Ties to full length ties. While I do not wear bow ties, I do wear full length ties daily.

I was able to try out two ties that were very cool designs and colors. Below you will see one of the ties!

Beau-Ties

The ties that I received were not only great looking but they were thick and high quality. Too many ties that you find are thin ties that do not last long. The ties from Beau Ties were some of the highest quality ties that I not own.

The ties are reasonably prices for the quality that you get. While you may pay a bit more than you might see in the store, these are thick, handmade in the United States ties that you will not be disappointed with and if you are for any reason they offer a money back guarantee too.

I have to say that I would have no qualms ordering from Beau Ties again in the future and if you wear ties for any reason, I don’t think you will be disappointed either!

Men’s Weahouse Gives Guys a Chance to Suit Up!

September 15, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

I watch How I Met Your Mother and this last season the above video. I tend to agree with Barney that Suits are great. Not that I would have a closet full of suits, but as a professional, I do wear suits every day and thus, I have come to appreciate a good suit and a store that goes out of their way to help them to make good choices in what will make them look good.
I have not used the Men’s Wearhouse much in the past outside of getting fit for tuxes and working with them professionally in having students at my work to be able to get Tuxes for graduation exercises. So I was excited when I was asked to come to one of their local stores to be able to use a gift card and see what their products are like as well as the service that they provide.
I went to a local Men’s Wearhouse store about a half hour away from our home and was initially amazed at the amount of products that were available for people. As a smaller person, I always have a problem finding clothes that fit and instead tend to have to pay quite a bit for alterations on the clothes that I buy. When I walked into the store I immediately was amazed at the number of people in the store for a Friday afternoon, but I also was amazed at the amount of menswear that they had. What I came to find out was that they were having a buy one get one sale on everything in the store (just my lucky day!).

Well… I explored arounf a bit and was amazed to see the number of suits in my size. If you cannot tell, I am a shorter gent and because of this I wear a short size of suit coat that I cannot find just anywhere. Instead, I tend to usually have to go to speciality stores to find these. Men’s Wearhouse was a store that I guessed would have my size, but I had no idea to the actual variety that they would have, which was much vaster than other stores that I have visited in the past.

I was givent he opportunity to work with the store’s manager Mike and from the very beginning, I was impressed with him demeanor as well as his professionalism. He walked me step-by-step through an educational process of learning about what to look for in a suit, something that no other stores had ever done for me in the past. I really appreciated the time that Mike spent with me and feel much more knowledgeable about suits than I have in the past.
I ended up identifying three suits as contenders, and we ended up going to try them on. Another thing that I was impressed with in regards to the service within the store itself was that you really do not need to bring anything with you (besides dress socks), as they make sure that you have something to wear while you are trying it on and most of the time they are wanting you to see yourself in different products that would compliment the suits you are considering. So whether this is shoes, sweaters, etc., they do a great job at helping you see your possibilities through the things that they have you wear.
Men’s Wearhouse also has their own in-store tailoring. Thus, when I finally decided on the suits that I was potentially interested in, they had them marked so that I would know just how much we were talking about with the cost of the suit as well as the alterations. The seamstress that I worked with was friendly and professional and she made it seem easy to make me look good.
Finally, after trying on all three suits, they brought out a slarge number of combinations that could work with the suits that I was interested in. Thus, they had shirts, ties, socks and other accessories there to let me see what could work between all three suits and how the colors would compliment each other. I liked this particularly as I am always asking J-Mom for her advice in regards to color combinations.
I ended up getting two Joseph Abboud suits, four Joseph Abboud  shirts, some socks and some heavy duty hangers for the suits for a reasonable price. When asked when I would like to pick up these items, I informed them that I would love to get them the next Wednesday (only five days away) and they remarked that this would be completely fine. They even offered to deliver the suits to my house, but I declined as I wanted to try them on again to make sure that the alterations were correct.
When I returned, I tried on the suits and one adjustment to the hem line of my pants needed to be made and they fixed the issue while I waited (it only took a few minutes).
All-in-all, I was very impressed with the level of service as well as the quality of merchandise that the Men’s Wearhouse provided me, and I would have no qualms in going back to purchase more items from them in the future!
Remember that September marks Men’s Wearhouse’s National Suit Drive Month. You can read more about it in my earlier post.

Time to Suit Up Men – Lands’ End Dress Clothes

February 17, 2010 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

On a daily basis, I work in a profession that requires me to dress up, wearing the proverbial Business Dress Clothes to the office. I do not mind this at all, but being a short man, I have to say that it is not always easy to find dress clothes that fit the right way.

In saying this, think about it, there are Big and Tall stores and sections in stores, but how often do you find a short and small store, that’s right, you don’t.

In a recent “How I met Your Mother” episode, the character of Barney sings about that he would not trade anything for his suits and calls all to suit up. In following his example I contacted Lands’ End about the opportunity to try out their Men’s Dress Line of clothes and I was happy to get interest form their end. So thanks to Lands’ End, I have some new dress clothes that are high quality and fit great. If you never saw the musical interlude, I think you will enjoy it so I included it below:

Lands End sent me the following for my dress ensemble.

  1. Men’s Regular Tailored Fit 2-button Yes ‘Rounder Suitcoat
  2. Men’s Regular Plain Front Tailored Fit Pattern Wrinkle Resistant Year’rounder Dress Pants
  3. Men’s Medium Wingtip Shoes
  4. Men’s Regular Repp Racing Stripe Necktie
  5. Men’s Regular Circle Links Necktie
  6. Men’s Regular Long Sleeve Tailored Fit Pattern Straight Collar No Iron Pinpoint Dress Shirt

My take on the items was that they fit wonderful and as J-Mom stated, they made me look good as well (but I will leave that up to all of you to see what you think about that). I was impressed by the quality of the items. The coat and pants were 100% wool and were light and comfortable to wear. The Neckties were 100% silk and were great and could be worn with many types of shirts (you might guess that I like good looking ties!).

As I mentioned I am always looking for ways to be able to find clothes that fit and one thing that I did like about the clothes at Lands’ End was that you could get almost any size that you needed. This was especially true with pants where you are asked for not only your waist size but also your inseam so that the pants will fit perfectly. Granted you will need to have these lengths for your order, but it is not too difficult to find.

Lands’ End has a wonderful array of clothing for men, women and children that I would whole heartily recommend. While I hadn’t had a lot of opportunities to have Lands’ End clothes before, I will definitely be looking for other clothes in the future.
