The film also stars the voices of Kevin Hart (the “Jumanji” and “Secret Life of Pets” films), Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live,” the “Magic School Bus Rides Again” films, “Ferdinand”), John Krasinski (the “Quiet Place” films, “Free Guy”), Vanessa Bayer (“Saturday Night Live,” “Office Christmas Party,” “Trainwreck”), Natasha Lyonne (“Show Dogs,” “Ballmastrz 9009”), Diego Luna (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Maya and the Three”), Marc Maron (“Joker,” “GLOW”), Thomas Middleditch (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie”), Ben Schwartz (“Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Duck Tales”), and Keanu Reeves (the “Matrix” and “John Wick” films).

In “DC League of Super-Pets,” Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

Stern, a veteran writer/consultant on the “LEGO®” movies, makes his animated feature film directorial debut, directing from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator John Whittington, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film is produced by Patricia Hicks, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Jared Stern. The executive producers are John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Nicholas Stoller, Allison Abbate, Chris Leahy, Sharon Taylor and Courtenay Valenti.

Stern’s creative team includes production designer Kim Taylor (“The LEGO® Ninjago Movie”) and editors David Egan (“Game Night,” “Vacation”) and Jhoanne Reyes (“Teen Titans GO!” “Young Justice”). The music is by Steve Jablonsky (the “Transformers” films).

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents A Seven Bucks Production, “DC League of Super-Pets.” The film will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in theaters internationally beginning 18 May 2022 and in North America on May 20, 2022.

Batman: Damned

About the Book

The Joker has been murdered. His killer is a mystery. Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective. But what happens when the person he is searching for is the man staring back at him in the mirror?

THE JOKER IS DEAD.

There is no doubt about that. But whether Batman finally snapped his scrawny neck or some other sinister force in Gotham City did the deed is still a mystery.

Problem is, Batman can’t remember…and the more he digs into this labyrinthine case, the more he starts to doubt everything he’s uncovering.

So who better to set him straight than…John Constantine?

The problem with that is as much as John loves a good mystery, he loves messing with people’s heads even more. So with John’s “help,” the pair will delve into the sordid underbelly of Gotham as they race toward the mind-blowing truth of who murdered the Joker.

Batman: Damned is a groundbreaking supernatural horror story told by two of comics’ greatest modern creators: Brian Azzarello (Dark Knight III: The Master Race, 100 Bullets) and Lee Bermejo (Hellblazer, Joker).

Game Review: LEGO DC Super-Villains

March 17, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and DC Entertainment today announced LEGO® DC Super-Villains, the first LEGO game to put players at the center of a villain-centric adventure packed with favorite locations and characters from across the DC universe.  For the first time, a LEGO game is giving players the ability to create and play as their own DC Super-Villain throughout the game. Their character becomes the center of the story, while teaming up with an iconic variety of villains to adventure through the hilarious and original story written in collaboration with DC. LEGO® DC Super-Villains will be available October 16, 2018 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One X®, Nintendo Switch™, and PC.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains provides players a fun and humorous way to cause mischief by unleashing their DC Super-Villain’s sinister powers and amusing abilities,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “With an unprecedented amount of customization options to choose from, players can create and customize their character at the start of the story, unlocking new powers and abilities as they progress through the funniest LEGO game to date.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“The original story in LEGO DC Super-Villains flips the DC universe upside down as players embark on an unforgettable adventure starring memorable villains set across notable DC locations,” said Ames Kirshen, Vice President, Interactive & Animation, DC Entertainment. “DC’s roster of iconic Super-Villains is unmatched and fans will love teaming up with The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and a host of others to save Earth from a greater evil.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains gives players a new way to play with their favorite DC characters with a splash of light-hearted, villainous antics,” said Sean McEvoy, VP Digital Games, The LEGO Group. “Players will enjoy exploring the expansive DC universe in the way only a LEGO game can deliver.”

In LEGO DC Super-Villains, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe, proclaiming themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’. Renowned DC Super-Villains from the ‘Legion Of Doom’ discover Earth’s newest heroes may not be the heroes they claim to be. With each player’s completely customizable Super-Villain character in command, this team of misfit lawbreakers must join forces to discover and foil the evil plans the incognito strangers have in store.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

At the beginning of the campaign, players can create their own unique villain and main character throughout, while also teaming up with a variety of DC Super-Villains throughout the story mode. As players progress, they will unlock new abilities, powers and can continue to customize their character to take on the evil threat. Friends and family can join story mode at any time with the fun, two-player, local co-op experiences where players can team up in epic boss fights.

A Deluxe Edition of the game, featuring the main game content, Season Pass content and early access to the DC Super-Villains: TV Series DLC Character Pack, is now available for pre-order.  An exclusive LEGO minifigure, Lex Luthor Superman, also comes with the physical version of the Deluxe Edition, while digital consumers will receive the Justice League Dark DLC Character Pack with their Deluxe Edition.

My Take on the Game

One of the things that I like the most about LEGO games is that they are so family friendly and they are made to be played by any and all. I would have to say that in playing many other LEGO games, this game is one of the most fun games that I have played recently. As a fan of the DC Universe, I have played games that focus on heroes, but not on villains.

In playing the game I have to say that the game play was better than I expected. Even better though was the plot itself. I found that the plot was much better than the last LEGO Marvel game that I played in the past.

It was a lot of fun to take control of the villains that you did not always think you would have an opportunity to control, and interact with others that again, you would not have thought possible.

In this game the super villains have to come to the rescue to save the world from Earth 3 Justice League dopplegangers. As you use your character you will find that the character interactions are authentic and that there is some great banter going on as well as some cool non-verbal cues as well.

One of the things that was unique in my opinion was the fact that you could create your own super villain. With this, you could build their powers up throughout the game and while you may not play your character most of the game, it is still fun to have the character there in the background just in case.

In the game, much like other LEGO based games you will defeat enemies, collect LEGO studs and solve puzzles as you work through the levels.

Puzzles are character ability specific. Some areas in the level are locked first playthrough since some characters abilities can’t be used until later since they’re not unlocked during the time of the story.

Boss battles are somewhat easy. Most come down to: wait for them to do their special attack, they will get dizzy, then do a free hit on them. Keep doing this and you will win!

This is a fun game and if you love DC you will love this, as it gives you a taste of the evil-doers for once!

Explore the X-Men Universe in This New Book

April 20, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

X-Men
 photo disclaimer_zpsflpjm0lf.jpg

About the Book
X-Men: The Characters and Their Universe tells the story of this unique band of comic book heroes from their creation in 1963 by the dream team of writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, through their late 1970s re-emergence as a platform for socially and politically relevant storytelling, and up to the present as one of the globe’s hottest franchises.

This colorful, lavishly illustrated volume also traces how the characters have been adapted into the media of television and film, including the ground-breaking 1992 animated series and the blockbuster feature films, including X-Men III: The Final Stand, released in May of 2006.

For fans of the comic books, this volume also provides a unique one-source catalogue of every major character that appeared from 1963 to the present, including all the various teamings of characters, the significant comic book series, the various character relationships and evolutions, and the classic storylines that have all woven together over the decades to create the dazzlingly complex and fascinating tapestry of the world of mutants.

X-Men: The Characters and Their Universe is a book that no fan of Marvel Comics, of super heroics, of animation and action adventure filmmaking, even of popular culture of the late 20th century itself, will want to be without.
My Take on the Book

As a person who has loved the X-Men for many years this book really brings together the entire universe and allows you to really get to know the characters and the history behind the universe itself. The X-Men franchise and story has evolved and changed so much over the years that having something like this is helpful as it is sometimes hard to follow the changing dynamics of the team, the changing backstories and powers of the characters, and more. All of this being said though, this comic has been one that has truly with stood the test of time and for me I think it has a lot to do with the face that there has always been a struggle between the two factions that you see here. Those that are main stream and those that are different. I think so many connect to the fact that so many of these “mutants” are so much like us with similar fears and concerns and have been ostracized because of their difference. Whether you agree with the premise of the story of the comic or not, this has definitely been a well written comic with amazing artistry throughout it’s 50+ years and this book encapsulates all of this well. There is a ton of information, images and more for any X-Men fan within this book. You will not be disappointed!

My Interview With James Gunn #GuardiansoftheGalaxyEvent

August 6, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

jamesgunn
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Most of you know that I was in Los Angeles earlier this month to be at Disney Studios for the #GuardiansoftheGalaxy Event as well as some other movie screenings. On the last day of the event I had the opportunity to be able to interview a number of the cast members and director James Gunn as a part of the press junket that would lead up to the world premier of the movie. I have to be honest and say that Seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy Movie and meeting these actors and Director James Gunn was probably the highlight of the trip, though everything was equally amazing! I wanted to take a few minutes to be able to reflect back on the interviews that I was a part of with the group of amazing bloggers that I was with.

One of the interviews that we had for the #GuardiansoftheGalaxyEvent was with Director James Gunn. As a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy and the Marvel Universe I was very excited to hear from James Gunn about his motivations as well as the interconnection between the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises.

jamesgunn

From the moment that James Gunn entered the room there was an energy that surrounded him and the conversation. He came in loud and energized and he was excited to be talking to us about the movie itself! With a HUGE smile on his face he was definitely surprised by the number of people in the room, but once we started talking to him, our enthusiasm about the film was contagious and you could tell he was pleased by this.

We talked to James Gunn about what role he likes best in making movies because he has done so many different things. While he stated that he loves directing, he said that what he really is best at is picking good people for the roles that are available in movies. I have to agree in regards to this movie, as the people picked for the acting roles truly felt correct to me, especially after seeing the movie and experiencing the true symetry that seemed to happen between the characters in the movie.

James Gunn mentioned that he loved that he had the opportunity to create a new wing for Marvel, especially in the fact that through the Guardians of the Galaxy he was able to not only create a new wing, but he was able to create new worlds, new characters and even new species of characters. As a comic book fan James Gunn said that this was the most exciting for him in being affiliated with this movie.

jamesgunn

We asked James Gunn which character in the movie was his favorite, and while he said that each character had their own things that made them unique and fun, that his favorite was probably Rocket as he was the outcast, he learns the least by the end of the movie, and he is the saddest character in regards to his backstory.

James Gunn said that making a family film was very satisfying for him. He equated this experience back to his own childhood and favorite movies from then. He stated that he wanted to be able to make Guardians of the Galaxy into a movie that allowed fans to have a similar experience to what he had with his own favorite movies. He also hoped that people would leave this movie with the understanding that this film was not just about superheroes. The movie instead is about family, friendship and caring.

I was interested to hear whether there was much interplay between James Gunn and Joss Whedon as the the Avengers are definitely connected to the Guardians in the actual comic series. While James did not go into a lot of detail about the future projects in the works, he did say that conversations definitely happened between both he and Joss Whedon, especially in regards to Thanos as James said he wanted to make sure that he remained true to the Thanos’ character as it was introduced in the Avengers and other related movies.

jamesgunn

In talking about the future for the Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn said that there are a ton of possibilities. He said that he would love to be able to tell the story of Rocket and Groot or Gamora or even the story of Nebula.

As we heard from Dave Bautista, James Gunn mentioned that his favorite antics moment though was the dance-off that he orchestrated with all of the cast. He said that it was so much fun and that he loved seeing all of the cast and crew having fun.

Meeting James Gunn was SO exciting and I loved hearing about his love for comics and how doing something like this was a dream come true. James was so down-to-earth and the smile that never left his face was proof of his excitement about the movie and what it brings to the Marvel Universe!
