Top Scents for Men, Fall 2020

November 9, 2020 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Fall is well and truly here, and along with the captivating colors of the changing leaves that the season brings, come some uniquely autumnal scents. Fall is the season of raw and natural woody scents, comforting aromatic spices (no, not just pumpkin spice!), and the smell of a roaring fire. Why not embrace the season by trying out some new fragrances? Here are some colognes that truly embody the season.

Which will be your fall scent?

Will you go for a rich, woody fragrance? Or a subtly aromatic scent? If you’re not sure what should be your signature scent this season, a perfume subscription box may be ideal for you. Rather than simply opting for a costly full-size bottle of designer cologne, why not try a different scent each month and see what works for you?

Mr Burberry by Burberry

Mr Burberry captures British class and elegance. It invokes London at nighttime and brings to mind suave and sophistication. This fragrance is spicy, woody and warm. It combines urban sophistication with warmth and comfort, making it incredibly versatile and suitable for both formal and casual events. Mr Burberry has top notes of grapefruit, cardamom, tarragon, middle notes of birch leaf, nutmeg oil, cedar and base notes of sandalwood, vetiver (an essential oil known for its health benefits), and guaiac wood.

Dior Homme by Dior

The ever-popular Dior Homme, whose praises have been sung by many a celebrity, including Batman actor Robert Pattinson, is a boldly masculine fragrance that invokes woodland scents such as cedarwood whilst still maintaining a tender and sensual side. This scent is perfect for men looking to exhibit both the strength and the tenderness of their masculinity. Dior Homme is raw and natural, transporting you to a wild yet beautiful woodland. This fragrance has top notes of Moroccan grapefruit, bergamot, coriander, middle notes of iris and a base of Atlas Cedar and vetiver.

Acqua di Giò Profumo by Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Giò Profumo is a wonderfully aromatic fragrance which makes use of rich spices such as sage and rosemary to create an intoxicating cocktail of autumnal scents. This fragrance has top notes of aquatic accord, bergamot, middle notes of geranium, sage, rosemary and base notes of patchouli and incense. These combine to make a beautifully complex and spicy fragrance.

Gentleman by Givenchy

Gentleman by Givenchy is an elegantly understated combination of sweet yet warm notes. This fragrance employs a unique combination of aromatic and subtly sweet notes to create a captivating scent that is ideal for daily wear. Gentleman has top notes of pear and cardamom, middle notes of iris and lavender and base notes of patchouli, leather and black vanilla.

Perhaps one of the above fragrances simply speaks to you and is the one for you! With their range of woody and spicy scents, all of the above colognes are strong choices for this fall, and truly embody the comforting yet raw and natural aspects of the season.

The Modern Man’s Guide to Fragrance Etiquette

The Modern Man's Guide to Fragrance Etiquette

When it comes to style and personal grooming, there are universal etiquette rules that need to be followed. And fragrances are no different. A lot of men who are unfamiliar with fragrances in general end up making a faux pas that not only prevents them from getting the most out of their cologne but can ends up coming off as distasteful. In this article, we’re going to give you some basic etiquette rules when wearing cologne.

How to Apply Fragrance the Right Way

Believe it or not, the goal of fragrance isn’t to attract attention or announce that you just entered the room. The goal is to complement your natural chemistry while being as subtle as possible without being subdued. Ideally, people around you shouldn’t be able to smell your fragrance past a one-foot radius, so that should give you an indication of how much you should apply.

If you still aren’t sure, you can always go by the “two sprays” rule. Two sprays of any fragrance should be enough for any circumstance. And also make sure that it isn’t concentrated in one area either. If you want your cologne to last, one trick is to apply one spray over your chest from about a 6-inch distance. Your shirt will end up trapping the fragrance which will allow it to last longer.

When You Should Avoid Fragrance

Even if some of us can’t live without it, there are times when fragrance should be avoided altogether. If you’re hitting the pool for instance, you should skip fragrances since they can end up reacting with the chlorine in the water. UV rays can also have an effect on your fragrance and alter its smell, so be mindful of that if you’re going to wear cologne on a sunny day.

When it comes to work, there are two approaches you can take. You can either take it down a notch or go for a more subtle fragrance. If you don’t want to apply too much, just stick to a few drops on your chest; this should be more than then enough. If you’re looking for a good selection of different fragrances, you can shop original fragrance for men at Maple Prime who have some great discounts on their colognes at the moment and look for one that works for you.

Never Spray Your Cologne Over Clothes

This is one of the most common mistakes people make when applying cologne. Fragrances are meant to interact with your body and will develop differently based on your chemistry. So, when you’re applying it to your clothes, you lose some of the fragrance’s subtleties. And not only that, but some fragrances could end up staining or even damaging your clothes, so if we were to give you one piece of advice, it would be to stick to skin and skin only.

Fragrance etiquette is essential if you don’t want to attract sneers from your colleagues or the people around you. These few tips should help you use fragrances the way they were meant to be while still allowing you to express your personal style.
