5 Hacks To Make Cleaning Easier This Summer

May 1, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

5 Hacks To Make Cleaning Easier This Summer

Summer is a time to get outside and start enjoying yourself so thinking about cleaning might be the last thing on your mind. Prepping your home and garden for summer is a great way to make the most of your beautiful exterior areas for family fun and outdoor dining. Starting with a big spring clean is one of the first steps in getting your house ready for the warmer weather, but once the sunshine arrives, there is a host of cleaning hacks you can use to keep your home looking and feeling fresh all season. If you’re looking to make your cleaning routine a breeze, take a look at these handy hacks to get you started.

Lemon power

During the summer, lemon will probably be a permanent fixture on your grocery list. Not only do they add zingy flavors to your favorite drinks, but they can also be used for cleaning too. Using half a lemon, rub it into stainless steel fixtures and wipe with a cloth afterward and it’ll be sparkling in no time. Due to its antibacterial power too, lemons can also be used to disinfect worktops.

Cleaning your outside grill

Barbeques are often a favorite pastime during the summer months and if your grill has seen better days, before purchasing for a new one, why not clean it with oven cleaner? Just like using products in your conventional oven, while the grate is slightly warm use the cleaning products to lift off the grime. You might need a brush for those tough spots, but it’ll be worth the effort.

Removing tough stains

With kids and pets going in and out of the garden during the summer, your carpets might start to look a bit grubby and in need of some revival. There is a selection of non-toxic products that can help lift dried in dirt and grime plus they are safe for both children and pets. For those stubborn patches, turn to experts at My Technicare who can help with deep cleaning ready for summer.

Try rubber gloves to remove pet hair

If you’re vacuumed your home, and you are still having issues with embedded pet hair, why not try using your rubber gloves? All you need to do is put your gloves on and run your hand over the area you want to clean. Doing this helps to create friction that pulls the hair more easily from stubborn spots.

Use baby wipes to clean furniture

Baby wipes are perfect for cleaning a multitude of things, so it’s no surprise they also work wonders on furniture. Due to their ‘gentle on baby’ composition, they won’t ruin the material either.

Use dryer sheets to clean shelves

Dryer sheets are the perfect way to get rid of dust and dirt from shelving and baseboards. Due to their anti-static nature, they repel dust and are a quick win if you’re in a hurry.

These are just few cleaning hacks that will see you through the summer months. Why not give them a try?

Spring Cleaning with JORD!

March 23, 2017 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

Spring Cleaning

After a long winter spring cleaning is a great time to refresh and renew your home and I know for my family this is a time to simplify too. We will go through things to get rid of things as well as to make repairs around the house as well. Below are a few tips that may be able to help you participate in your own spring cleaning.

Spring Cleaning

5 Spring Cleaning Tips

  1. When it comes to spring cleaning, work from the top down, inside to outside, to avoid getting what you just cleaned dirty again.
  2. When tidying, reduce trips around the house by temporarily depositing items in one spot en route to but not at their final destination.
  3. Make small repairs. If you’re not handy, hire someone.
  4. Don’t stand your brooms on their bristles. It will destroy their shape and diminish their effectiveness. Instead, get a broom holder, like the Magic Holder 5-position broom organizer.
  5. Do one room, even one area of one room, at a time to avoid unfinished jobs.

Also, with the end of Winter, you can also wash away their blues by working on your style. One way that I know that I do this is to find accessories that will accent your personal style. JORD watches do this for me. Recently, I have tried out the brand new Conway JORD watches.

SOME FACTS ABOUT THE CONWAY!

  • The Conway is JORD’s first chronograph watch for men.
  • Chronograph watches are traditional display watches with the addition of stop watch functionality.
  • Chronograph watches were originally invented and used for tracking astronomical objects in the sky!
  • Chronograph watches are now popular in aviation, racing, diving, and most athletics where precise time-tracking can be utilized.
  • Many fashion chronograph watches on the market, don’t actually work! They just have the chronograph look on the face, but JORD’s Conway is a true operating Chronograph watch and uses the Citizen Miyota 0S10/0S1A movement.

In addition, here is a 15% off code (for the Conway) you can share with your readers, which they can use now and expires on 6/31/2017: dadofdxx2zha

Facebook Shares Best Practices for Spring Cleaning

March 19, 2017 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Spring Cleaning
It’s official, Spring is (finally) in the air, and you know what that means: Spring Cleaning is upon us. For many people, the new season provides a great opportunity to organize their home and online life.
  • It may sound surprising to turn online to tidy up offline, but Marketplace, which Facebook launched late last year,is a great place to start. Marketplace allows millions of people to discover, browse, buy and sell items with one another locally. Now getting rid of items that no longer serve you has never been easier. From the kids’ old toys to the furniture you’ve out grown, Marketplace offers a simple way to sell products in your neighborhood in an ultra-convenient way.
  • Spring Cleaning can be just as much about sprucing your digital space as it is your physical one. Stay connected with the people, places and things that inspire you by refreshing your News Feed Preferences and Ad Preferences. You can prioritize who to see first to make posts from the people and Pages you love appear at the top of your News Feed.
  • To stay organized through the Spring Cleaning season and beyond, keep your activities planned and organized with Facebook Events – You can send invites, see who’s going/interested/invited, share directions or a map, distribute messages to the guest list and share photos all in one place.
  • Facebook Groups provide inspiration, ideas, advice and support before Spring Cleaning even begins. More than a billion people use Facebook Groups every month to connect in meaningful ways – including around things they are passionate about – whether it be something universal like home organization tips (Home Organization 101) or more specific like Konmari Adventures, a group about Marie Kondo’s book: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. You’ll be surprised how many people are experiencing the same things as you!

Getting My Daughter To Clean Up Her Room With The Dirty Dunk

Getting My Daughter To Clean Up Her Room With The Dirty Dunk

Do you have child that does not like to pick up their laundry? Is their room starting to look like a war zone? The Dirty Dunk will help your kids want to clean up! This was the issue that we were dealing with in our home with our oldest daughter. We would badger her and badger her to no avail and in the end if we wanted clothes picked up we would have to do I ourselves. Recently I learned about a great new product, the Dirty Dunk. The concept is that they have put together a basketball hoop that can go on the back of a door, but attached to the hoop is a laundry basket.

The Dirty Dunk

My daughter is a Basketball player so this concept was completely up her alley. When we got the Dirty Dunk to review, it was set up and all I had to do was place it over the back of her door. While it was a bit tight in the door jam, the door still closed as well. My daughters’ first reaction was one of awe. I think her first words were “awesome.” This is better than her being upset because she sees through our attempts to keep her room clean.

We have had this now for a few weeks and I can say that it is making a difference. We are seeing that she is having fun shooting her laundry into her basket. While we have warned her about actually dunking on the hoop, she has been good about it and the Dirty Dunk is really helping us get her room back under control!

5 Tips for Spring Cleaning with the Kids

March 31, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Refinish Refresh:
Instead of throwing out an old piece of furniture, let your kids paint it and keep it in their room. This doubles to let the kids express their creativity and as a piece of furniture.  Set up shop in the back yard to enjoy the warmer weather!
Quick Cover Up:
Freshen up your furniture and protect it from muddy feet and melted popsicles with a semi-custom slipcover. Leading slipcover provider Sure Fit has an extensive selection of fitted and tailored styles in an endless array of colors and materials for couches, chairs, recliners, futons, ottomans and more. They also provide “Tuck-Once” tools and grips that help to lock your slipcover in place for a natural, fuss free solution.
Make it a race and time the kids to see how fast they can get the slipcover on the furniture.
Stretch Stripe and Twill Supreme
Rearrange Change:
Moving furniture may be the easiest way to change the look of your space. Try rearranging a room, or trading out furniture from one room to the next. That unused rocker could look great by the front window, it just needs to get brought up from the basement!
Tell the kids that every item that they help move, earns them a point.  Five points equals an ice cream sundae at the end of the day.
Do it Yourself Details:
Tell the kids that as a reward for cleaning up their room, they get to decorate it with their own personal style. Let them choose the colors to cover up throw pillows with sunnier colors and textures, and coordinate the colors with craft projects that will bring the room together. Think brightly painted picture frames, finger paint artwork, and colorful crafts.
Turn It Up:
Play your favorite music and turn it up to clean while you dance.  When the music stops everyone has to freeze.  Anyone caught moving has to put away one extra item.  This makes the time fly by and the kids won’t even realize they are helping you clean.

Mr. Clean Eraser Review & Giveaway

March 29, 2010 by dadofdivas 18 Comments

About the Products
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Bathroom Scrubber with Febreze fresh scent is the latest cleaning innovation from Mr. Clean and provides superb cleaning with a pleasant scent. It removes soap scum and grime better than the leading bathroom spray and helps reveal the natural shine of bathroom surfaces.

What do you get and how does it work?
-A scrubber that removes tough dirt and grime-All you need to do is wet it; no need for gloves, buckets or additional cleaning implements-30% larger than previous models-New Febreze scent-No fumes-Useful on tubs, ceramic tile, grout, sinks, counters, showers and shower doors

My Take on the ProductWe have always loved using the original magic eraser as it was one of the products that actually removed some of the craziest marks on the wall that the kids can place on them. While we have never used the eraser before in the Bathroom, but in receiving this product to try out, we were excited to see if it worked as well as the ones we had used in the past.

As we tried out this product I will say that we had high hopes. We have pretty hard water and it at times does leave a bit of soap scum that is quite difficult to get rid of and I was hoping that this would help with this problem.

In trying this product, I can tell you that it did do a good job to clean the bathroom and to take off much more of the soap residue that other cleaners seemed not to touch. I also liked the scent that was infused into the eraser as well. The scent was pleasant, unlike many of the cleaners that leave a bleach smell behind.

Overall, I was impressed by the eraser and I believe that we will continue to use this product into the future!

If this product sounds like something that you would like to have as a part of your own home, you can find it on Amazon!
