Enjoying the Original Christmas Classics With My Family!

December 5, 2016 by dadofdivas 4 Comments

The Original Christmas Classics

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Every year I would snuggle up with my family and watch the shows that I now find myself waiting in anticipation for each year. My favorites were always Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, buy add in Frosty and I would always be just as happy.

As my girls have gotten older it has been important to me to introduct them to the same cartoons that I grew up on and I have been so happy to find that they too can’t wait to watch them as a family either.

The Original Christmas Classics

This was why I was so excited to find out that all of these amazing shows, with their music, and great animation are now available in The Original Christmas Classics Bundle. This includes all of the shows I mentioned and even a few like the Cricket and the Hearth that I was not familiar with.

The Original Christmas Classics

So even if you did not grow up with these shows, you can start a tradition of watching them year after year like my family did! Believe me, it is truly worth it and the memories that you will create will be ones that will last you and your family a lifetime!

The Original Christmas Classics

All of these stories and more are available on Blu-ray and DVD in a Bundle pack perfect for creating new memories and holiday traditions! The Original Christmas Classics Bundle is available on Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray NOW!

My Take on the Blu-Ray

Talk about a complete series. As a fan of this series, I was so impressed to find not only all of the episodes (as there were so many), but also the additional bonus features that were on it made it unique and special too! That being said, my daughters’ and my favorite episode by far has to be James Baxter The Horse. I cannot pinpoint why we like it as much as we do, we just do(It probably has to do something with how ridiculous the episode was!). Best of all was the value of this. For as many episodes that were on this, the true collector will be able to get this without breaking the bank. Get ready to hold your sides laughing in many of these episodes!

“TINKER BELL AND THE LEGEND OF THE NEVERBEAST”: ROSARIO DAWSON AS THE VOICE OF ’NYX’ AND INTRODUCING THE SCOUT FAIRIES

tinker-bell

Actress Rosario Dawson lends her voice as a fiery and courageous fairy, “Nyx”, in the all-new Disney Fairies adventure, “Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast”, out on Bluay™ March 3, 2015.

Nyx is a Scout Fairy charged with protecting the luscious land of Pixie Hollow and all of the fairies who reside there. A true professional who takes her job very seriously—maybe a little too seriously—allowing facts and logic to guide her every move. Driven to succeed, Nyx is often willing to let compassion take a back seat.  The Scout Fairies are a group of fearless fairies who protect the residents of Pixie Hollow. They are agile and athletic with a keen ability to spot trouble before it gets out of control.

tinker-bell

This heartwarming story explores the ancient myth of a mysterious creature whose distant roar sparks the curiosity of Tinker Bell’s friend Fawn, an animal fairy who’s not afraid to break the rules to rescue the NeverBeast before time runs out.  The film also features the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin (Fawn), Mae Whitman (Tinker Bell), Megan Hilty (Rosetta), Lucy Liu (Silvermist), Raven Symone (Iradessa), Angelica Huston (QueenClarion) and is directed by Steve Loter (“Kim Possible”) and produced by Makul Wigert (“Secret of the Wings”).

About the Movie

Disneytoon Studios returns to Pixie Hollow with the heartwarming adventure “Legend of the NeverBeast.” The new story explores an ancient myth of a fabled creature whose distant roar sparks the curiosity of Tinker Bell’s good friend Fawn, an animal fairy who’s not afraid to break the rules to help an animal in need. But this animal—massive and strange with glowing green eyes—is not really welcome in Pixie Hollow, and the scout fairies are determined to capture the mysterious beast before it destroys their home. Fawn, who sees a tender heart beneath his gruff exterior, must convince Tink and the girls to risk everything to rescue the NeverBeast before time runs out. Directed by Steve Loter (“Kim Possible”) and produced by Makul Wigert (“Secret of the Wings”), “Legend of the NeverBeast” roars to life in March 3, 2015.

Disney/Pixar’s INSIDE OUT Trailer!

October 2, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

disney-pixar-inside-out

From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Notes:

  • Director Pete Docter is the Academy Award®-winning director of “Up.” He made his directorial debut with Disney•Pixar‘s smash hit “Monsters, Inc.,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for best animated feature film. Along with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, Docter developed the story and characters for “Toy Story,” Pixar‘s first full-length feature film, for which he also served as supervising animator. He served as a storyboard artist on “A Bug’s Life” and wrote the initial story treatment for “Toy Story 2.” As one of Pixar Animation Studios’ key creative contributors, Docter garnered an Academy Award nomination for his original story credit on Disney•Pixar’s Golden Globe®- and Oscar®-winning “WALL•E.”
  • Jonas Rivera produced the Academy Award®-winning “Up,” for which he was nominated for best picture. Prior to “Up,” he had worked on nearly every Pixar film since joining Pixar Animation Studios in 1994, beginning with “Toy Story” for which he served as production office assistant. His subsequent credits include “A Bug’s Life” (as art department coordinator), “Toy Story 2” (as a marketing and creative resources coordinator), “Monsters, Inc.” (as art department manager) and the Golden Globe®-winning “Cars” (as production manager).

Disney’s Big Hero 6 Is Going To Be Awesome! #BigHero6

September 3, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

BigHero6

About the Movie

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.” Inspired by the Marvel
comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”).

My Experience With The Movie

As all of you know I had the opportunity to go out to Los Angeles back in July for a number of amazing experiences, including screening some movies, some television shows and even more. As a part of this experience I got a sneak peak at some of the early footage for the Big Hero 6 movie that is coming out this November. I have to tell you, from what I saw this movie is going to take an amazing adventure that combines great animation, but also a great story that is filled with drama, adventure, friendship and so much more.

BigHero6

bighero6

We spoke with the directors and they stated that the city that you see in the movie is a combination of name and culture from Tokyo and San Francisco. Throughout the movie you will see different ways in which they played with the cultures of both cities, in customs, food, and more to make their new world.

bighero6
When I was in LA for this event, we asked the directors where they were in regards to the movie itself. They mentioned that at that point they were 50% complete, but that they would be done with all of the animation in three weeks, so as you are reading this the movie should be complete and getting ready for its’ release in November.

bighero6

Through the clips that I viewed I found that the movie had some amazing characters that your whole family will love. I loved the relationship between Hiro and Baymax, and as you watch further you will continue to root for them and hope that they succeed from beginning to end!

bighero6

With the fact that my daughter is a HUGE artist, I asked Chris Williams, one of the Directors what he would recommend for a young artist who might want to be able to work in animation in the future. He stated that he would encourage all kids to do what they could to draw Animals. He mentioned that when he was a child he would go to the local zoo and would draw animals. On top of that though he stated that all kids need to be able to become students of Movies and Stories.  Finally, he mentioned that you have to find a good college to go to and you have to be willing to work hard and take on any experiences that you can!

All-in-all this together makes a movie that was a great fit for Disney and for Disney fans. You will love this and I am so excited to see the hole movie and share it with my whole family!

Blog Pop Christmas Wishes – Ice Age: Continental Drift Daddy & Me Time #Giveaway #Bpop

November 30, 2012 by dadofdivas 27 Comments

We’re getting close to the holidays and that means that it is time to celebrate with the Blog Pop Team’s Christmas Wishes Event! Between November 28-30 the 8 bloggers from Blog Pop are working together to bring you some awesome giveaways! So go and check out the following blogs for some other great prizes, and remember to come back here a lot over the next few days to enter for some great prizes! The seven blogs that are a part of the Fall Ball include:

Still Blonde After all These years Dad of Divas Momma Told Me

My next giveaway is Below!

In Ice Age: Continental Drift, Manny and Peaches butt heads as Manny becomes over-protective of his daughter. In this feature, we will offer some tips on how dads and daughters can spend some time together and help create a stronger bond between the two, including going to the movies, camping or creating a DIY project for mom.

Sub-zero heroes Manny, Diego, and Sid embark upon a high-seas adventure after their continent is set adrift.  Using an iceberg as a ship, they encounter sea creatures and battle pirates as they try to reunite with their herd.  In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

Go to the Movies

The movies are a fun outing for any day of the week. Choose a new movie that interests you both, or check out a theater that plays classic family favorites. Depending on the time of the movie, you can go to lunch, dinner, or dessert afterwards to talk about your favorite characters.

Camping

Camping is a great way to take a break from everyday distractions like texting and Facebook and enjoy the great outdoors instead.  It provides the perfect opportunity to teach your daughter how to pitch a tent and start a fire. Many campgrounds also offer great hiking trails and rentals of canoes and paddleboats if near a lake.

DIY Project

Everyone has a creative side and a DIY project is perfect for showing it off. You can try a large project such as sprucing up an older piece of furniture. Or maybe try a smaller project such as a plant holder for the back patio. Whatever you choose, make sure mom approves and consider all safety precautions.

Day Trip to the Zoo

Even though the chances of seeing a wooly mammoth are slim, the zoo is a perfect place to take your daughter for quality bonding time. You can walk around in search of your favorite animals or take a guided tour to learn new and interesting facts. Make sure you bring a camera along so you and your daughter can take plenty of photos with the monkeys!

Shopping… Dad’s Don’t Be Scared

A great way to bond with your daughter is to let her roam in her natural habitat… the mall of course! In order to keep things from getting out of hand, make the time about picking out the perfect gift for mom or another relative. And to balance it out, you can bring your daughter along the next time you are shopping for the latest gadget or sporting equipment.

Turning the Clock Back My Life with Rats and More Confessions of an Overworked Mom

My next giveaway is Below!
About the DVD
Disney Junior’s newest hit animated TV series geared to kids ages 2-7, “Doc McStuffins,” was available for the first time ever on Disney DVD and Digital Copy, August 21, 2012. Sure to become a fan favorite with parents and kids alike, “Doc McStuffins: Friendship Is The Best Medicine” includes a DVD featuring five full length episodes, each consisting of two 11-minute stories, a Digital Copy of the episodes – perfect for kids to watch anytime, anywhere – and also comes packaged with Doc’s special Big Book of Boo-Boos with fun activities plus character and boo-boo bandage stickers.

The characters and themes featured in “Doc McStuffins” are all made to be relatable to young viewers and are designed to ease kids’ trepidations about everything from a doctor’s visit to removing a splinter. Many of the stories directly address the kinds of issues that parents face with their young children when it comes to good health, hygiene and trips to the doctor’s office. It’s the perfect series to have on-hand and add to your home entertainment collection.

The lovable characters in the series are voiced by Kiara Muhammad as Doc; Loretta Devine as Hallie; Lara Jill Miller as Lambie; Robbie Rist as Stuffy; Jess Harnell as Chilly; Jaden Betts as Donny McStuffins; Kim Brooks as Mom McStuffins; and Gary Anthony Williams as Dad McStuffins. The series’ theme song is performed by the star of Disney Channel’s hit series “A.N.T. Farm” and Hollywood Records recording artist, China Anne McClain. Created and executive-produced by Humanitas Prize and Emmy® Award-winning Chris Nee (writer on “Little Bill” and producer of “Deadliest Catch: Crab Fishing in Alaska”) and directed by Emmy® Award-winning Norton Virgien (“Rugrats”), “Doc McStuffins” is a production of Academy Award® nominated Brown Bag Films (Best Animated Short Film “Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty” in 2010) in association with Disney Channel. The Hollywood Health & Society division of the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center serves as the series’ health and medical consultants, advising on basic health issues that are relevant to young kids and families.

EPISODES FEATURED ON THE DVD:
The DVD contains five full length episodes, each consisting of two 11-minute stories, that highlight some of Doc’s favorite toys.

  • ENGINE NINE, FEELIN’ FINE! – Doc and her toys learn a lesson about dehydration after discovering that Donny’s toy fire engine has run out of water.
  • THE RIGHT STUFF – Stuffy rips his tail and tries to hide it from Doc and the other toys and learns that anyone can get hurt – even brave dragons.
  • CAUGHT BLUE-HANDED – When a mysterious rash of blue spots breaks out among some of the toys in the clinic, Doc traces the “Mystery Pox” back to Donny’s toy monster, Glo-Bo who had been finger-painting earlier in the day and forgot to wash his hands. Glo-Bo is voiced by Jim Belushi.
  • TO SQUEAK, OR NOT TO SQUEAK – Doc helps a plastic toy duck get his voice back after his squeaker pops out.
  • BEN/ANNA SPLIT! – When Doc’s huggy monkey doll Ben loses the velcro patch that attaches him to his sister Anna, Doc glues it back on and tells him that he will have to stay in the clinic overnight while it dries.
  • THAT’S JUST CLAW-FUL – Doc prescribes physical therapy for her crab bath toy Hermie after she reattaches one of his claws that has fallen off.
  • THE RIP HEARD ROUND THE WORLD – While dancing with Lambie, Doc accidentally rips a hole in her fur.
  • WALKIE-TALKIE TIME – Doc diagnoses a toy walkie-talkie with “Staticosis” and helps find his missing antenna so he can communicate clearly again.
  • DARK KNIGHT – During a sleepover with all of her toys, Doc discovers that Sir Kirby is afraid of the dark and prescribes a night light to cure him of the “Dark Willies.”
  • HALLIE GETS AN EARFUL – When Hallie is having trouble hearing, Doc gives her a hearing test and realizes that she has extra cotton stuck in her ears.

My Take on the DVD
My youngest daughter loves Doc McStuffins and she watches this almost every day. This is a great collection of the first season’s episodes that will keep my daughter asking for more for the foreseeable future. What I love about the series is the fact that each episode has great messages about friendship, caring, and so much more which are all things that I want my daughters to learn about. The DVD was so entertaining and I have to say that any person who is already a fan will want this for their DVD collection, and if you have not seen it yet, I highly encourage the show for any pre-school age child, as (at least in my case) my daughter and I would give it two thumbs up!

The Chipmunks, Chipettes and their caretaker Dave Sevelle (Jason Lee; “My Name is Earl”) embark on a trip of a lifetime aboard the Carnival Dream cruise ship.  Seeking fun and excitement, the Chipmunks turn the luxury cruise liner into their own personal playground.  But the ultimate vacation quickly becomes a disaster when the Chipmunks, Dave and Carnival cruise pelican mascot, who turns out to be the chipmunks’ old manager, Ian Hawke (David Cross; Megamind), accidentally fall overboard and find themselves ‘Chipwrecked’ on a remote island.  Stuck in an unfamiliar territory, the six furry castaways are separated from Dave and must figure out a way to survive on their own for the first time in their lives.
