How To Spur The Creativity Of Your Children

November 2, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Not everyone is creatively inclined, and not every child will be, as is logical. However, it’s worth considering how, as a parent, you can try and help your child think more creatively, become involved in practicing their own expression, or in simply introducing them to novel and loving forms of art. There are many benefits to this, some cognitive, many emotional, and plenty experienced. Anything you can do to help your children live with more imagination and wonder is surely a good thing.

That being said, spurring the creativity of your children in the first instance may seem like somewhat of a difficult task. How are you supposed to do this in an organized, repeatable manner, or how might you do so in a way that is suitable for them? You may be into French detective films from the 1940s, but it’s unlikely that this will be as appropriate to share with them at this stage in their development.

Thankfully, this needn’t be rocket science. With the following advice, you’ll be sure to spur the creativity of your children, on the off chance that they love it:

Show Them Theatre

There’s almost nothing more engaging, hilarious, mystifying, and impressive than heading to the theatre. Children that have been deprived of this experience are certainly missing out, and this goes not only for young children but teenagers too. It might be that sourcing broadway tickets could be one of the best and most incredible festive treats you hope to enjoy, no matter if you love musicals, dramas or internationally renown plays. This is sure to bolster the wonder of your children, which in turn will bolster their creativity.

Engage In Creative Arts

Viewing art is one thing, while practicing it can be even more impressive. Why not take time to engage in creative arts with your children? No matter how this takes place in your household, it’s usually valid. Perhaps you’ll begin a creative writing session with your children and work on a story together paragraph by paragraph, or you’ll get involved in crafts, or you’ll enter a local pottery making class. These active, creative passions can help you bond with your children, and will help them actualize their imagination in a fundamental manner.

Invest & Pay For Lessons

If your child shows an inclination for a certain thing, it can be worthwhile to help them develop those positive feelings and give them the tools to try and encourage their art. You may decide to purchase a guitar or a violin and allow them to take lessons, or perhaps help them enter a landscape painting class or art study group outside of school. Often imagination is not completely nourished through an odd family visit or a limited period of a lesson in school, and so helping your children explore their natural talent or curiosity can surely spur their potential creativity from now into the future..

With this advice, you are certain to correctly encourage the imagination and creativity of your child.

Easy Ways to Get Your Kids Involved with Arts and Crafts

February 20, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

If you have kids, then you will know how important it is for you to help them with their creativity. There are a few ways that you can do this, so take a look below to find out more.

Start out with a Favorite Story

A favorite book or even a story is a fantastic starting point. There are so many arts and crafts that you can do that are all based on a character and this gives your child the chance to really relate to the art they are creating. If you are not able to find an arts and crafts set that is based on your child’s favorite character, then there is no reason why you can’t go on to create your own. Get out a pen and a drawing pad and show your child how easy it is for them to bring their creation to life. If you want to try and get your child into arts and crafts so they can do something special for Mother’s Day, why not look into gifts for mom instead?

Easy Ways to Get Your Kids Involved with Arts and Crafts

Interests

Some kids go through phases of obsessions. It could be trains, dinosaurs or even sports. Either way, if you know that your child has an interest in something then use this to your advantage. Look up pictures of trains that are in books or even find out what trains operated in your local area. When you do this, you can then encourage them to create their own location. Remember that you are not always limited to a pen and paper. In fact, you can easily cut out pictures from magazines and illustrations.

Easy Ways to Get Your Kids Involved with Arts and Crafts

Experiences

Novelty is everywhere for a child. They will probably take great pleasure in going to a farm, or even trying a new dish. Let them use their inspiration to further their own interests. If your child likes to let their ideas flow, then leave them alone with a pad and some pens. You might also want to buy them some clay, or even some thin pieces of wood. The possibilities are endless, and they can all amount to how your child perceives art.

Show them Artists

If you have taken your child to an art gallery or even a museum lately then there is a chance that you have spoken to them about a few names. If your child shows a particular affinity to a certain artist, then don’t be afraid to talk with them about it. Show them the colors that they use, why they use them and even the impression that it gives. When you do this, you can really help them to grow attached to them and you can even talk about their lives. This is a great way for you to get them hooked and it could even be the start of a brand-new hobby for them as well.

So, there are plenty of things that you can do to try and help your child to get interested in art, and the above tips should be more than enough to get you started.

Designing the Perfect YouTube Channel Art

May 4, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Designing The Perfect YouTube Channel Art

YouTube is a very competitive platform. There are thousands of hopeful vloggers out there looking to find fame and fortune on YouTube, so making yourself stand out from the rest of the competition isn’t easy. Most of those who come across your channel will be visitors who are there to enjoy the video content that you produce. However, while getting people to your channel is one thing, encouraging them to stay around and become a long-term supporter is quite another.

Making good use of channel art is one of the simplest yet most effective things you can do to convert more visitors into long-term fans.

What is Channel Art?

When visitors arrive on your channel, you have a great deal of control of what they see in terms of the layout. You can add a custom color scheme, and even some custom images, to your channel’s page. With the right channel art in place, you can watch as your subscriber numbers skyrocket, with only minimal effort on your part.

Channel art is sometimes known as a cover. It is this that people will see first when they visit your channel’s YouTube page. The main choice you have to make here is whether you will use a banner that makes use of photography, or one that uses a logo or other artwork instead. There are a number of free YouTube banner creator services online which you can use to produce a high-quality banner.

Branding

You can think of your YouTube channel as being like a brand. As such, you want to make sure to promote it in a particular way. Namely, you want your channel art to be big and bold so that it draws the viewer’s eye and is memorable.

Another important consideration when treating your channel like a brand is that of consistency. A brand can only build and sustain a good reputation if it delivers consistent and reliable results. You should take steps to ensure that you have complete control over where your brand’s logo appears, you don’t want it adorning anything that you disapprove of.

Size Matters

This is perhaps the most important consideration when you are designing your channel art. If you don’t get your sizes and proportions right, all of your careful design work will go to waste. It is important to realize that your cover art might not display the same across all devices. The only way to be sure how it will look on any device is to open the page up on that device.

YouTube’s official guidelines recommend that you upload a single image of 2560 x 1440 pixels to be used across all devices, the minimum dimensions allowed are 2048 x 1152 pixels. The file size cannot be above 4 MB, so keep this in mind before you start throwing together a bunch of ultra high-resolution images to use.

The artwork you choose for your YouTube channel can make a significant difference to the number of visitors who go on to become subscribers and long-term viewers. Think of your YouTube channel as a brand and approach your artwork design as an exercise in promoting your brand.

My Take on Light Box Arts

This was a very cool idea. When I got this I was happy to be able to pick out Starry Night as it is one of my favorite art pieces. They even sent me an additional one that I could easily slip into this that was also a nice touch. I do not know if they do that for everyone or just me, but I loved it. The box itself can sit on a shelf or can be hung as well. The Light Box Arts box itself takes AAA batteries to run. It came with these installed. I wondered about maybe using rechargeable batteries in the future to be able to add longevity to the life of the usage of the batteries that I have.

I have had a ton of people mention how great this looks. I agree. This is a very cool piece or artwork and there are so many things you can choose from on the Light Box Arts Website. I highly encourage you to look at the website and leave a comment to let me know which one you would choose!

Disney Art Academy Will Teach You The Secrets of Disney artists!

Disney Art Academy

Are you an artist or do you have someone in your family that is? Are you someone that loves the art of Disney? Do you love using the Nintendo 3DS? If you answered yes to any or all of these you will love the new Disney Art Academy.

In the Disney Art Academy you have the ability to learn to draw some of your favorite Disney and Pixar characters but beyond the academy itself one you learn to draw the characters you do have the ability to go beyond the learning to a free drawing area where you can really explore and make your learning real.

If you follow the steps of the academy you will learn a lot and you can even save pictures of the art that you create.

My daughters enjoyed trying this out and my oldest even made a video of her thoughts on it that you can find below!

All-in-all this is a great addition for the Nintendo 3DS and I am so glad that I and my gils have had the chance to better hone our own Disney artistic abilities!

Creating Amazing Images With the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan!

October 30, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

adobe-creative-cloud
I have been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free

As most of you know I have been a photographer for a long time. I cannot say that I am a professional photographer in any sense, however I take a lot of photos and I tend to think that I take good photographs too.

While I say this I have not been super advanced at trying to take my photography to the next level in creating images that are truly amazing like the ones that I see on many photographers sites, but I know that it is possible.

As I say this, I recently learned about the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography software which offer a 1-year subscription and encompasses Photoshop Creative Cloud and Lightroom Creative Cloud. This online based subscription allows you to connect up to two computers and gives you access to enhanced photo editing and convenience with the multi-screen capabilities provided by the Cloud.

The 1 year subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography software costs $119.99 annually which really is not much when you consider the power that is behind the overall software itself.

So what does the software let you do? Well some of the features include:

  • Perfect your Photography: From everyday edits to total transformations, the Creative Cloud plan lets you retouch and manipulate images in just about any way you can imagine.
  • Organize, Edit & Share images from Anywhere: On your computer, on the web, on your iPad and on your iPhone or Android device. And when you make an editor flag a favorite in one place, it’s automatically updated everywhere else through Adobe CreativeSync technology.
  • Showcase your Work: Organize images in web galleries or share them on your favorite social sites. Then use the Adobe Slate mobile app to craft visual stories and animated videos and the Adobe Voice mobile app to add your own voice for narration.

I have been trying out the software over the past few weeks and while some of the features take a little bit of experimentation, it was quite user friendly and the amount of adjustment that you can do to perfect or change an image was simply remarkable. I took the following image and changed it just slightly and you can see the drastic differences. I wish I had started using this so long ago and now I do not think I will ever go back to using raw images!

So I encourage you to take your best shot and make it even better with the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan as I did, you will not regret the investment!

Khan Academy Launches Pixar in a Box

August 27, 2015 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Khan Academy launches Pixar in a Box, a behind-the-scenes look at Pixar Animation Studios’ creative process

Free online curriculum shows how Pixar filmmakers use science, technology, engineering, art and math to create movie magic

Pixar in a Box is a new online resource that explores the academic concepts behind Pixar Animation Studios’ creative process – goes live on KhanAcademy.org. Through a series of video lessons, interactive exercises, and hands-on activities, students will discover how the academic concepts they learn in school enable Pixar filmmakers to create new worlds, animate unique characters and tell stories through animation. Although designed especially for students in middle and high school, these resources are available to learners of all ages, completely free of charge.

“Our mission at Khan Academy is a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere,” said Sal Khan, Founder and CEO of the not-for-profit Khan Academy. “Sparking student interest in math and other academic fields is a key part of that, and we’re delighted to collaborate with Pixar to achieve this goal. Pixar in a Box gives students a new way to engage with key academic concepts and see how creative these concepts can be.”

“Learning makes us beginners again,” said Ed Catmull, President of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios.  “In my experience, creativity involves missteps and imperfections, which is one more reason it is important for every one of us to keep learning – in order to remain flexible and keep our brains nimble.   By working with Khan Academy on Pixar in a Box, we hope to encourage the excitement of learning and creative thinking for middle and high school students and to provide the tools to do it.”

“For years, we’ve heard from teachers at every grade level interested in creating animation-based curricula,” said Elyse Klaidman, Director, Pixar University and Archives.  “We’ve wanted to provide free online resources for them, and Pixar in a Box makes that dream a reality. We hope that it not only gives students a behind-the-scenes look at how our movies are made but also gets them excited about STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) concepts.”

Khan and Catmull officially unveiled Pixar in a Box at a special event yesterday evening on the Pixar campus in Emeryville, CA. After an introduction from Klaidman, local educators learned the story behind the project and then received a live demonstration of Pixar in a Box from two of its creators – Brit Cruise, Content Producer at Khan Academy, and Tony DeRose, Senior Scientist and Research Group Lead at Pixar. The evening concluded with a question-and-answer session moderated by Klaidman.

“Many students start to lose interest in academics in middle and high school, partly because they don’t see how academic concepts relate to things they care about,” said DeRose. “Pixar in a Box aims to address this disconnect by showing how Pixar filmmakers use these concepts for creative benefit in their everyday work.”

Starting today, students can access Pixar in a Box and learn:

  • How combinatorics are used to create crowds, like the swarm of robots in WALL?E.
  • How parabolas are used to model environments, like the forest in Brave.
  • How weighted averages are used to create characters, like Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
  • How linear and cubic interpolation are used to animate characters.
  • How trigonometry is used to create the worlds in which Pixar stories take place.
  • How simultaneous equations are used to paint all of Pixar’s images.

“These lessons are the first phase of the project,” said Cruise. “While the first year focuses on math, future Pixar in a Box lessons will explore science, computer science, arts, and humanities.”

All Pixar in a Box resources are available free of charge at PixarInABox.org. The site will be updated as additional lessons become available.
