5 Reasons Online Learning Might Be Better Than Traditional Learning

September 18, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Traditional learning in a classroom, perhaps with a book, will always have its benefits. However, online learning is becoming more popular, and some suspect that it might be better than traditional learning. Of course this can depend on many different factors, such as what type of learner you are and what you prefer personally. However, here we’re going to take a look at why online learning might be better than traditional learning.

Read on if you want to get an idea of whether online learning could be right for you:

1. Take Your Course Anywhere In The World

Providing you have a computer and an internet connection, you can take a course anywhere in the world. Online learning is usually focused on learning at your own pace, so this means you could make your way through the material anywhere. You could do it on your commute, or even while you’re on a break if you feel like it! There aren’t any limitations to where you can do your course.

2. You Can Learn Pretty Much Anything You Want

You can find all manner of courses online, whether you want a degree in physiology or astrology. You can also find compliance training solutions and pretty much anything else that relates to what you want to do in an instant. You may not be able to find the ideal course for you at your chosen learning institution, or one that is close enough to you, so being able to find the right one online is fantastic.

3. Learn At Your Own Pace

When you head to a traditional learning institution for your chosen course, you will not usually be able to learn at your own pace. Learning will be a set pace that everybody in the class must follow, whether they feel comfortable doing this or not. Some people will be faster learners and fly through the course material, while others will need to take their time in order to get the most out of the course. Learning online means you don’t have to worry about being too fast or too slow.

4. Less Of A Time Investment

With traditional learning, time getting to and from classes, as well as other time constraints mean that it’s a huge time investment. Online learning does not require much of a time investment from you. It’s up to you whether you’d like to spend a few hours learning every few days, or a much smaller amount of time every day. You get to control your schedule.

5. Online Learning Is Better For The Environment

As you don’t have to travel with online learning, it’s a better option for the environment. Studies have found that online courses equate to an average of 90% less energy and 85% fewer CO2 emissions per student than traditional in person courses.

It’s also worth noting that the retention rates are higher with online learning. If you think that you’ll do well on a course where you get to control your schedule and you don’t have to travel, online learning could be the best thing you do!
