Taking Care Of Your Eyes Is SO Important #SeeMuchMore

When I was on vacation a few weeks ago I was cleaning my glasses and all of a sudden my glasses broke in two. I had these glasses for the past 10 years so they lasted a long time, but it was very sad to lose them. Luckily I was able to go to the Gaylord Eye Care Center to be able to get a eye exam as well as to get some great new glasses.

I have always seen the importance of keeping up with my eye care. I always did what I could to have regular eye exams to make sure that my eyes were staying healthy and that my prescription was not changing too drastically. Luckily, as a professional I have always had eye insurance and lately my employer offers me VSP Vision Care for employees.  I have always appreciated the ability to have insurance and having VSP has helped with my exams as well as providing something for glasses for myself and my family.

About VSP Vision Care (VSP)

As the largest national not-for-profit in vision care, VSP Vision Care reinvests in the things its nearly 66 million members value most – the best care at the lowest out-of-pocket costs. With a network of 30,000 eye care providers, VSP members have the freedom to choose the provider, location and eyewear that’s right for them. It’s easy to see why VSP is consumers’ #1 choice in vision care.

Because I wear glasses this has always been important as I want to make sure that everyone in my family is covered and so that my own kids are covered too. Luckily, so far my kids to not need glasses. That being said, it is important for all kids to have an eye exam too even when they are not having eye problems, as keeping their eyes healthy leads to recognizing problems early, problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. For me, but for the kids it helps me them to make sure that they will be able to experience life to the fullest. I also just read that one in four children has an undetected vision condition which to me makes it even more important for kids to have these exams!

I read recently that many experts believe that 80 percent of what we learn is through our eyes, making a comprehensive eye exam one of the most important ways parents can give their child the best chance at success this school year.

Whether you currently have vision insurance now or not, I just learned about a new website that is great. SeeMuchMore.com is a one-stop site for all the information you need about enrolling in vision benefits. The site includes a virtual savings calculator to estimate your savings with VSP vision benefits. There is also helpful information about maintaining healthy vision that can be found at the Learn About Your Eyes section of the site. You can even play an interactive game for a chance to win prizes.
