On January 1, 2013, girls everywhere will be inspired by   Saige Copeland, American Girl’s 2013 Girl of the Year®. To support Saige’s message of preserving arts programs in U.S. schools, American Girl is sponsoring a school grant contest and partnering with Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education. American Girl’s “Shine On Now” charitable initiative will provide financial support to the organization’s Arts Education Program, which provides arts education professionals with the information, materials, and resources they need to enrich student experiences with the arts.

To further engage girls, American Girl is introducing the following Saigeelated initiatives:

 

  • Elevate the Arts School Grant Contest: Starting January 1, elementary art teachers can enter to win one of thirteen grants totaling $45,000 for their schools’ art programs by submitting a digital image of a hot-air-balloon-themed art project and a written essay that conveys why the arts matter in their schools. Entries must be received via the online form by May 31, 2013.
  • Soar with Saige Sweepstakes: Girls can share their artistic talents by downloading a hot-air balloon template from americangirl.com/girloftheyear and creating a colorful design using crayons, markers, or pencils. All balloon artwork sent to American Girl by April 1, 2013, will be uploaded to an online hot-air balloon mosaic and automatically entered to win one of ten prize packages.
  • Saige Learning Guide: American Girl has teamed up with Americans for the Arts to create this free, downloadable curriculum, which encourages children to draw on their imaginations and discover how creative they can be. Students in grades 3 to 6 will enjoy reading Saige’s stories and doing the fun art activities outlined in this curriculum. Activities for parents to engage in with their kids are also available via Americans for the Arts’ website: AmericansForTheArts.org/go/AmericanGirl.
  • Saige Retail Events: Starting on January 1, girls can take part in Saige-themed events at American Girl retail stores nationwide, including painting demonstrations, free craft activities, photo opportunities, and delicious Saige-inspired meals.

    Valentines Day – Seattle’s Best Curiosity Pack Giveaway!

    People are passionate about their coffee and many would go as far as saying they truly “love” coffee. Last week, Seattle’s Best Coffee introduced a new line of iced canned lattes. We would like to offer your readers an opportunity to be amongst the first to try the new blends.     Seattle’s Best New Iced Coffee

    Seattle’s Best Coffee, part of Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX), today announced the latest addition to its “Anywhere Great Coffee is NeededTM” strategy: its new line of iced canned lattes.  Following a successful West Coast test in 2010, this marks the brand’s entrance in the $1.4 billion dollar U.S. ready-to-drink category.  This move capitalizes on the growing trend in iced coffee beverages that according to the NPD Group accounts for about 20 percent of sales in coffeehouses and quick serve restaurants with more than 1.2 billion servings in 2010.

    Made with the same premium coffee as the Seattle’s Best Coffee hand-crafted beverages, the line includes an Iced Latte, Iced Vanilla Latte and Iced Mocha Latte each with 130 calories.  Through the North American Coffee Partnership (NACP), a joint venture between Starbucks Corporation and PepsiCo, Inc., the lattes will be available in major grocery, convenience and other retail stores beginning in late January with a suggested retail price of $1.49 for a single 9.5-ounce can and $4.99 for a four-pack.  Building on the “Anywhere Great Coffee Is Needed” campaign that debuted earlier in the year, the product line will be supported this spring by a significant marketing campaign that will use the brand’s fun and optimistic voice to show many ways the new Seattle’s Best iced lattes can now be enjoyed.

    “With this move we’re continuing to deliver on our ‘Anywhere Great Coffee Is Needed’ strategy by bringing a new kind of convenience to iced coffee, which is the fastest growing segment in premium coffee,” said Michelle Gass, president, Seattle’s Best Coffee.  “Through our test we confirmed that consumers are looking for a great tasting iced coffee beverage in an on-the-go format and at only 130 calories per serving, it’s a product they can enjoy at breakfast and throughout the day.”

    The national roll-out follows a successful year for Seattle’s Best Coffee.  Under the new Starbucks Corporation multi?brand portfolio strategy, Seattle’s Best Coffee is accelerating its growth to reach new customers and occasions. Key to the Seattle’s Best Coffee growth strategy is a complete revitalization of the 40?year?old brand and a new business direction that fully leverages its multi?channel strategy to bring great coffee everywhere.  To date, the brand has expanded the number of locations consumers can get a freshly brewed cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee® from 3,000 in 2009 to more than 40,000; launched the Level System, an innovative and radically simplified packaged coffee line that makes finding the right coffee as easy as 1-2-3-4-5; and seen a ten?fold increase in interest among potential franchisees as it has continued to expand its retail footprint.

    My Take on the Product

    I was excited to see this new line of clothing. As I am always interested in finding clothes that Diva-J will like while at the same time encourage her to be more than she can be. I liked the line that Nastia has developed, not only for its wild colors and supergirl insignia on it, but also because of the reasonable prices for the clothes.

    As you can see in the images above, Diva-J loved the shirt and she thought that the fact that it was signed by Nastia, was very exciting. Outside of this, I was impressed with the construction of the shirt. Soft and comfortable, the shirt that we received was something that would be easily washed and I could tell that with how Diva-J reacted, this shirt will be one that will be worn again and again.

    Anyway, I will definitely be looking for more of these items at JC Penney very soon. How about you?

    With this DVD you definitely can start the party! My girls love to dance, and when I put this in, I thought that I was just transported to a Elementary School Auditorium Dance, with screaming girls, and sparkling lights. I can already tell that this video will be one that I will be seeing on over and over again in the future and I am sure that you will find similar results.

    My Take on These Products
    I had never tried out Pentel products in the past, but have to say that I was quite impressed, all of the ones that I tried were both comfortable to use as well as provided good coverage on the page. I liked the fact that a number of their products were “green” and that the company itself is working to promote a more eco-friendly environment. As you get ready to go back to school, I would highly recommend thinking about incorporating these products into the backpacks of your children, you will not be disappointed.

    My Take on the Drink
    As a parent I am always looking for a healthy drink to give my kids, and especially in the summer when they are outisde and running around, getting sweaty and hot, I want something that will replenish their fluids. This drink does both, it tastes great and replenishes many of the things that they lose when exercising or simply playing outside.

    When I gave the drinks to my eldest daughter and her friend, both raved over the taste. I tasted it as well and it was nice, not overpowering, but more like a flavored water.

    I loved the fact that this product had low sugar and replenished their fluids (especially in this hot weather that we have been having this summer).
