The gloves that I tried were a great fit. I was really impressed with the overall quality of these gloves. I measured my hand like they recommended and when they arrived they fit exactly like promised. The gloves also had great grip and from driving these gloves were perfect and they allowed me to be able to have good feeling as well as control over driving and controlling the steering of my vehicle which was great seeing that gloves are usually too bulky!

All of this being said I have to say that I loved my new gloves and for any Harley Davidson fan you will love them too!

Cozy Cub Winter Clothes Make A Cold Winter, Warm #dadchat

November 30, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Cozy-Cub-Winter-Clothes
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

Living in Michigan you know that winter is something that is inevitable and something that you have to prepare for. This fall we have been having unseasonably cold temperatures and my wife and I have had to kick it into high gear as we have had to prepare for winter so far ahead of schedule. That being said I was excited to be able to learn about a new line of children’s winter clothes from One Step Ahead, called their Cozy Cub line of clothes. What I love about these is that they are interchangeable and allow you to get winter apparel that actually relate to one another, thus you can find gloves, coat, fleece liners, snow pants, boots and more that all connect together in regards to colors. Too often you are having to search from store to store to find items that match. With the Cozy Cub line you do not have to worry about that at all.

Cozy-Cub-Winter-Clothes

When I received the items (all but the boots) my daughter was SO excited! She wanted to jump right into them even though it was not very cold on the day in question. We assembled the coat easily, putting the fleece liner in for added warmth and getting everything else taken care of. I was impressed with how easy it was to get the liner into the coat as we have had others that have given us nothing but problems, but not this. We also found that the sizing charts on the website were very accurate. The gloves fit as they were supposed to, and so did everything else, which has not always been something that we have found with every site that we have tried out in the past. The coat was good on warmer days too, just take the fleece out and you get a much lighter weight coat that I know Diva PJ enjoyed wearing!

Cozy-Cub-Winter-Clothes

The clothes were well made and very warm. When we did get our first substantial snow the girls had to go outside to have fun, and when Diva-PJ came back inside, even though she had been rolling around in the snow, she was still dry and warm, which is exactly what we want to find when it comes to winter clothes.

All-in-all I was impressed with the quality and price of this line of clothes and if you too are in need of some warm winter clothes for your young ones, I highly encourage you to look at these!

As a dad I don’t always know what the heck I want for days like Fathers Day, which tends to frustrate my wife and kids immensely. With that in mind it becomes even more important for me to be able to go out and take some time to check out some stores that have a bit of everything to be able to make lists. So this Fathers Day, JCPenney asked me to go to their store and to make my own Father’s Day Dad’s Wish List. I don’t always do this, but I have to say that I had a ton of fun looking at all of the cool things that JCPenney had and I was impressed with the breadth and depth of the variety that the store had. I decided to make a few videos on some of the things that I found. Take a look and see what you think.

How to Ace Father’s Day #dadchat

May 23, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

father and son

How to Ace Father’s Day

You have now survived Mother’s Day, and with any luck you scored a great gift for the woman who brought your kids into the world. If not, she may have tried to take you out of it.

But in the head-spinning world that is the modern calendar, we are already ticking off the waning days until Father’s Day. The burden is now on the wife and kids to do better than a necktie or coffee cup and to track down a gift that will blow your mind on the second Sunday in June.

But you aren’t completely off the hook yourself. In addition to being a father, you also may have a father, a father-in-law, and maybe even a grandfather in your life. So your shopping struggles continue. But you knew that already.

So as you think about your dad, her dad, and maybe even their dads, as well as yourself, consider some of the big categories where you can hit pay dirt.

Gifted Hero

The Practical

In 35 or 40 years of buying for your dad, you may have gotten him every fun thing you can think of. Nowadays, it’s tougher to cook up something that he will like and can use. Think of his interests and hobbies and try to go from there, but don’t restrict yourself. Think outside the box when you can.

Going off-script in regards to the gift with something like support socks can work very well. It’s the kind of thing that will appeal to older dads who are paying close attention to their health and fitness, and it provides an extra boost for their comfort level during exercise compared to their good ol’ sweat socks. Essentially, you’ll get him started doing what we should all be doing when we exercise, which is wearing the appropriate gear and maintaining our comfort and health proactively instead of waiting on aches and pains to develop.

English: James M Masters as a baby in his fath...

The Memorable

So many of our dads don’t take good care of the keepsakes of their lives. Maybe they’re not artsy-craftsy, or maybe they just think of keeping items rather than displaying them. Whatever the reason, his football letterman jacket is in a cardboard box and his Army medals hide in a cigar box downstairs. He’s probably never even thought of how nice it would be to place those items out in the open, not just for himself but also for grandkids and other younger relatives who’ve never known those chapters in his life.

Plot with your mom to sneak in, retrieve his stuff, and get it placed in shadow boxes, frames, or whatever works best, and then give him a gift he’ll never see coming.

The Intangible

Not every memory is tied to an object, of course. Sometimes experiences are more meaningful than items. As Father’s Day approaches, consider the possibility of spending a day doing something unique with your dad. It doesn’t have to be a week of deep-sea fishing in the Caribbean, but it could be anything that you know your dad enjoys doing with you and maybe the grandkids. Gas up the car and take him on a tour of his old hometown. Let him show you where his old school was, or the house where he was born. Find the cemeteries where your ancestors are buried. Splurge on an NBA playoff game or a weekend of chasing minor league baseball teams around your area. Whatever it is, just think of what your dad likes and do it.

We all try to be good to Dad 365 days a year, but 364 of those don’t have his name on them. On the one that does, think personal, think practical, think memorable, and enjoy.

My thoughts of these items

I had the opportunity to try out two of the above items, one for each of my daughters. The first was the matching sparkle dress for my youngest daughter and her American Girl doll. This matching dress set was beautiful and really made my daughter feel like a princess. She also thought it was so cool to be able to be dressed with her favorite friend. I love that American girl has these sets available and it allows you to let your girls feel special and share something fun with their dolls. The dresses are of high quality and are simply beautiful and for the holiday, the dresses were perfect!

My eldest daughter is completely into Saige, so I was able to get her the Saige painting set and accessories. My daughter is a painter like Saige, so she thought this was awesome! What I love about American Girl is the attention to detail that they put into the dolls and the accessories that they make for all of their dolls and these two kits were no different.

In all of my experiences with American Girl I have to say that I have been completely impressed thus far with their quality as well as the breadth and depth of their collection and their attention to detail. If you have never experienced this great company and their dolls, you definitely should!

You can get free shipping at American Girl until December 9, so act quickly and save some money!

American Girl products are available through the American Girl catalog at 1-800-845-0005, at americangirl.com, and at our American Girl retail stores.

Creative Snow With Pinypon #Giveaway! @PinyponUSA

November 22, 2013 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

About the Toys

Santa loves snow; he’s surrounded by it every week of the year! So imagine his enchantment with the new Pinypon Snow Ski Lodge playset ($39.99) and the accompanying Pinypon Snow Adventure Car & Tow ($12.99). Pinypon was introduced to the U.S. market in 2012 and little girls everywhere are smitten with the pint-size doll line, outfits and accessories.

Established in 1957 by a group of artisan doll makers, Famosa has become a leading European toy company and doll manufacturer based in Spain. The company has a stellar reputation as a developer of innovative, safe and high quality products that foster all around development for young children. Families who grew up in Spain or Mexico likely have fond and warm memories of playing with their Famosa toys. Famosa currently operates in over 95 countries, reaching a wide range of consumers. In 2010, Famosa was acquired by Sun Capital Partners and its U.S. operations were established in October 2011, based in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. The company markets brands including Pinypon, Nenuco, Nancy and Feber.

My Take on the Toys

I have to start by saying that I am always looking for new playsets that will engage my youngest daughters’ curiosity as well as help spark imaginative play for her and her friends. I can be honest in saying that I had never heard of this company before trying this out, most likely because of it being a European company and only finding the company at our local Toys ‘R Us.

One of the things that really stands out with these sets are the little extras that they provide. One of the things that stood out most was the ice rink that was a part of the Ski Lodge Playset. The ice rink can be filled and then placed in the freezer to freeze and voila, you have an ice rink that the characters can play on. My daughter will play on this rink until it melts and then ask me to do it again!

The characters in this are fun and both of the playsets are well made and I can tell that they will outlast some of the other sets we have had in our home in the past.

The company also has put a lot of additional details into not only the characters but the playsets themselves, and these additional add-ons were very nice to find and my daughter loved them. For example the lodge has little things like logs for the fireplace, beds, tables sunglasses on the characters and so much more.

I highly recommend Pinypon to all and hope to find some great new sets to follow these!

Coolibar Clothing Is A Great Gift for Dad This Father’s Day

I was lucky enough to try out the new Coolibar ZnO Pro Quarter Zip Polo as a part of the clothing that they are promoting for father’s day recently and I wanted to share my experience with this and other clothes from this great company. As you might remember I have written about my experiences with this brand in the past and my experiences have been positive (read more about my experiences below):

  • http://dadofdivas.com/producteview/coolibar-coolibar-clothing-provides-comfort-and-total-protection

I am always looking for clothes that look great but also protect. Especially after the fire that we had in my home in February and the ensuing hospitalization over Valentines Day, I have found that I have to cover my left arm and the skin that I burned even more than usual.

With this being said it has become even more important for me to find clothes that give me that extra protection no matter what the weather and Coolibar clothing does just that. With the shirt that I tried out it has some of the following great features:

  • Cool, moisture-wicking ZnO pro SUNTECT®: Cotton/Porel/Spandex
  • Quarter zip collar
  • Raglan sleeves
  • Straight drop tail hem with side slit
  • Easy care: machine wash, tumble dry
  • Imported
  • Rated UPF 50+

Coming in four great colors I was able to try out the Rustic Red, which to me looks more rust colored, but I digress. The shirt itself was so comfortable and you could tell that it breathes making it comfortable to wear even on warmer days. On top of this though is the UPF 50+ rating that it has which will protect me from the harmful sun rays, which is exactly what I am looking for!

All-in-all I was very impressed with this and with the rest of the men’s line of clothes that I have come in contact with in the Coolibar line and I would recommend you checking them out for yourself and let me know what you think as well! Check out the entire line of Coolibar men’s clothing when you can!

Mother’s Day Dilemma Solved: 4 Reasons to Gift Amazon Kindle

May 3, 2013 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Kindle Fire HD 8.9"

Please refer to this site’s Disclaimer for more information. I have been compensated or given a product free of charge, but that does not impact my views or opinions.

With Mother’s Day approaching, it’s time to start thinking about how to show mom she’s the cat’s pajamas. Why not give the perfect gift that’s both thoughtful and productive? Amazon Kindle is mom’s ultimate gift choice this year – lasting much longer than flowers and chocolates that will be out of the house within a week.

From the affordable Kindle Paperwhite ($119) that allows mom to breeze through her favorite classics in bed without disturbing dad, to streaming the top cooking videos on Kindle Fire HD, below are a few reasons why the Amazon Kindle family should be in your family and is a no-brainer for mom this year.

Why Gift Kindle for Mom This Year?

  • Mom is busy and works hard. She deserves a few minutes of “me-time”! Kindle Paperwhite is a great accessory for busy moms – Kindle Paperwhite fits in her purse and connects effortlessly to another world between the pages of mom’s favorite book or magazine, not to mention the millions of books available in the Kindle Store (including all the best-selling classics mom loves). Plus, she won’t keep dad awake at night with Paperwhite’s unique front-lit e-ink technology; she can read in bed without disturbing his snore!

kindle-fire-hd-xl

  • She could use an extra hand (or two) around the house. Kindle Fire HD 7” and 8.9”are Mom’s favorite helpers, offering the ability to stream cooking videos while playing chef and choose from countless apps and books that keep her up to speed with the latest organizational tips, how-to guides, cookbooks and inspirational novels.
  • Mom already has enough to worry about. Kindle FreeTime for the Kindle Fire family is practically a built-in babysitter for mom, allowing her to create customized profiles for the kids which allot specific times for what they are allowed to read, how long they can play games for, and more.
  • She could use a vacation (understatement of the year). Whether she’s planning a vacation or “stay-cation”, Amazon Kindle is mom’s ultimate travel companion – cute, compact (weighs less than a paperback) and #1 on her what to pack list. Kindle’s e-ink technology is a dream on the beach with no glare. And, if she can only make it to backyard pools this year, she’ll still feel like she’s escaping when she gets lost in her Kindle.
