Special Valentines Day Greeting from Friends

February 14, 2020 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Friends
Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love and show appreciation for those in your life who have been there for you through thick and through thin! It’s a day where love is in the air and someone you have been crushing on may finally look your way and say, “How You Doin’?.” Or your significant other may get down on one knee and tell you that “You ARE their lobster!” Even if you are going through your third divorce, tomorrow is the day where you get back on that saddle – because you deserve it!
Happy Valentine’s Day. Whether you are celebrating early with the kiddos at home, or getting a sitter for a night out on the town – in honor of the iconic series, and those who were there for you for the past 26 years – we hope this Valentine’s Day brings you lots of love, laughter and chocolate!
All individual seasons and compilation sets of Friends are available to purchase here: www.OwnFriendsTV.com. All seasons are also available to own at all major digital retailers; including iTunes, VUDU, Amazon Prime, and Google. DVD and Blu-ray sets can be purchased for your loved ones from all major retailers – including Amazon, Target and Walmart.

Four Ways to Prepare for Weekend Visitors

March 27, 2018 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Four ways to prepare for weekend visitors

Having friends or family over for a weekend can be fun and exciting, especially when you haven’t seen each other for a long time, but having visitors can also be quite stressful. You have to figure out how you’re going to entertain them, what you’re going to eat, and how you’re going to accommodate them in your home. To help ease the stress, here are four ways to help prepare for weekend visitors.

Plan in advance

While spontaneity can be good, it’s always better to try and prepare for any visitors well in advance. If you have relatives traveling from far, then you’re likely to know at least a few weeks ahead of their arrival. Before any of your visitors turn up, think about what you’re going to do with them when they turn up. Come up with a plan of action, which gives you a structured weekend – but is also not too rigid and allows for flexibility. Nobody wants to be marched around when they’re supposing to be enjoying some social time.

Get the house ready

If you can’t accommodate your weekend guests in your house because you don’t have enough room, then you will need to source a hotel or similar for them. However, if they will be staying with you, then think about where everyone is going to sleep. Who needs a single room, who needs a double? Would any of the guests benefit from en-suite facilities? Can any of the others make do without a bathroom in their room? Once you’ve worked out sleeping arrangements, then make sure you make the beds with fresh sheets and pillows and provide some clean towels.

You also need to make sure the rest of the house is tidy, creating a welcoming and cozy environment, which will help everyone relax and enjoy the time you have together. Make sure you have given everywhere a good clean and make sure you don’t have any unwanted visitors in the form of an infestation of any sort. If you need some experts, call in Go-Forth Pest Control of Winston-Salem.

Buy food and drink

When you’ve got visitors over for a couple of days, you’re going to need to plan out the meals, ensuring you’re catering for all tastes and dietary needs. Check in advance if any of your guests have any specific requirements. Then, draw up a shopping list and get down to the grocery store. One night you may want to eat out though as a group, as it can be far more enjoyable and less stress for you!

Plan some activities

If everyone’s willing and able, try to plan some things to do while your visitors are in town. Maybe there are some arts events you can visit, some sports to play, or a theatre show to enjoy. Nobody wants to be stuck in the house for a whole weekend, so think about what kind of activities you can all enjoy together. Look out for discount vouchers too, to net yourself a bargain!

Meeting Up With An Old Friend

September 24, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Isn’t it nice when you can meet up with old friends? I had the opportunity to meet up with a friend that I have not seen in many years and it was like we had never left. It was great seeing him and being able to catch up on his family and old times. Too bad he doesn’t live closer. Hopefully it won’t be another 4+ years until we see each other again!

I am a part of the Dad Movement at the #M3Summit

September 11, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Since Thursday I have been attending the M3 Summit in Atlanta. This conference was the first Dad Blogger conference of its’ type and it has been my first attempt of putting myself out there in getting truly involved in the blogging world besides posting and interacting on social media.

The conference was an intimate gathering of some of the great guys that are out there on the web and one of the best things about the conference was the opportunity to meet guys that I have been meeting and talking with over my last three years of blogging.

There truly is something to meeting guys in person and getting to know them on this level that I really like. It motivates me to reach out more and to try and stay even more connected to them in the future.

I have to say thank you to the entire team who developed the conference. I do hope that this gathering continues in the future as I do believe that this is just the beginning of something great!

Knockers – A Great Tailgating Game for Football Season

September 1, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

About the Game
Knock it off! Knockers is a portable backyard/tailgating game that is easy to set up and fun to play! Teams compete by throwing a flying disk at the Knocker, trying to knock it off, while the opposing team attempts to catch the Knocker and the flying disk. Knockers comes in a reusable carry case that allows you to easily take it to your favorite sporting event. It’s fun for the whole family! The newest tailgate game sensation!

My Take on the GameI love a good tailgate and along with tailgating comes tailgating games. I have played a number of them over the years, from ladderball to simply tossing around the old pigskin, they all were fun. I was excited to find this game out from little kids inc. I brought the game to a neighborhood gathering and the neighbors (and I) had a blast. This game was definitely a hit to the party and will be a game I bring with me to the tailgating parties that I will be going to this fall. On a different note, one thing that I really liked about this was the carry case that it came in. Lightweight and portable, this game was made for ease of travel. So if you are looking for a great game this tailgating season, look no further than Knockers.

Spending Time With Great People!

July 27, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

We were fortunate to be able to spend a short period of time (unfortunately) with our old neighbors last weekend, and it was like old times again, Sitting around the Dining Room Table and talking about anything and everything. We miss having these talks, sitting outside and talking to one another, roasting marshmallows, throwing back a cold one, but at least we will always have a connection with them as Mr. M is Diva-PJ’s Godfather!

Chicago, a City that Lives Up To Expectation!

June 23, 2010 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Last weekend I had the opportunity to experience two separate events in Chicago! I will talk about both separately as they were both great opportunities and we had a blast. Diva-J, her friend Emily, Nonna as well as Emily’s father and I were given tickets to attend a Peter Pan Ice Cream Adventure as a part of the Emerald City Theatre Company’s summer show series. I shared this great show with you previously and now had to experience it for myself!
So we ended up getting up at around 5:30 in the morning to make sure we were fed and dressed so that we could make the 4 hour drive to the windy city. We packed the car with educational kids toys, videos and games to aid us on our trip. The girls were troopers and I have to say that having a portable DVD player within the car (with dual screens) was a life saver along the way.

The trip as mentioned was uneventful except taking a back route and finding that it was closed and then having to maneuver my way around these slight detours. All-in-all we had no problems and traffic was quite light until we hit downtown.

The Apollo Theatre, where the Emerald City Theatre performs is a small venue, but it’s intimacy allows for you to truly experience that show that you are seeing.

We were lucky enough to have front row seats and this meant that we were able to practically be in the production ourselves. There were times when I thought the actors were going to come and join us as they walked by, but alas they were professional and stayed in character.

One of the things that I loved about this production of Peter Pan was that they got the audience involved. The actors spoke with the audience and took what they said and incorporated it into the production itself in a few parts. This made the production fun and the kids could not say enough positive things about this as it allowed them to be a part of the show.

Everyone in the theatre and in the cast were so warm and willing to become engaged with the kids. This made the drive and the show an ultimate success in my perspective. Also as a theatre major, I appreciated how well the cast interacted together and how well the show flowed from start to finish. The show was so good that it went by too quickly. As soon as it seemed that it had started it was over, but I know that most of this feeling was in fact due to me getting engrossed in the story and the music of the show itself. You get transformed and I found myself inadvertantly smiling with enjoyment throughout the play.

There are still a few Ice Cream Adventure productions (where the guests get ice cream sandwiches after the show) left in the season and I would definitely recommend the shows to anyone looking for a great time. You will get transformed and brought to Neverland with the cast. It is a journey worth taking! Just look at the faces of these girls and know that all of the kids (that I saw) at the show had similar smiles leaving the theatre!
