This was such an inspirational movie. Talk about resolve and someone that continues to strive toward her goals. These are all traits that I want my own girls to learn. The message in the movie was powerful and the acting superb!

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown – Getting Our Schultz On! #Giveaway

In celebration of the all-new which is now out on Blu Ray / DVD and more, my family had the chance to have a Peanuts themed Family movie night recently.

We have been big fans of The Peanuts since my wife and I were kids. We grew up reading and watching The Peanuts gang, and to be honest we always wanted to be able to share the gang with our own daughters. While we do this on special holidays when you see their specials on television, it was not until the kids watched the all-new Peanuts Movie that they were completely hooked.

This movie is such an amazing family film and offers so many positive messages about friendship, positive thinking and never giving up no matter what. We actually had some great conversations with the girls after the movie about what Charlie Brown runs into in his life and how he overcomes this, and I would be remiss to not be honest and say that even I got a bit emotional seeing some of the ways in which the group comes together in the end of the movie (no spoilers)!

Santa ‘s Little Helper DVD Review & Giveaway

About the Movie

After getting fired from his job, a slick, fast-talking businessman (The Miz) is thrown into an elf competition to become Santa ‘s next second-in-command. Put through a series of rigorous training exercises to prepare for the contest, The Miz and another aspiring elf go head-to-head in the hopes of becoming Santa ‘s Little Helper.

My Take on the Movie

In the beginning of this new holiday movie you meet Dax. He is a high powered business man who is selfish, self centered, and does not care about anyone except himself. He has a fancy car, expensive home, and has a high opinion of himself.

Now Santa and his elf enter the picture. There is a contest to see who Santa’s right hand elf will be. Santa sends an elf to help Dax pass the tests, but Dax has a lot to learn. You wonder if he will pass the test and become Santa’s right hand elf.

In this movie you will see Dax change. He learns kindness, patience, and to be true to yourself. Even though he had a difficult childhood, he uses his past to heal the future of a Youth Center that was an important part of his life.

There is laughter for the viewer. There may be cheering as you see Dax try to become the best person for the job Santa has for him. However there is also a surprise ending. Yes, Dax becomes important to Santa but he does not become the right hand elf. The twist in the story just makes this new holiday story even more endearing to watch.

About the Movie

This was a great adaptation from the book. You never know what you will get with movies like this but you do have to love how great the characters in the movie were and how well written the script was. While the ending of the film was not exactly what I would have expected, it was still good. While the trailer may make it look like it is a movie that would relate only to women, think again. The movie is somewhat a coming of age story that explores the lives of the characters as well as themes of friendship and teen angst.

About the Movie

I always loved this movie. You get a love story that brings together two unlikely people while at the same time you learn about friendship, caring, acceptance, love and more. Diane Wiest was a great mom. Winona Ryder convinces you that she is spoiled and selfish and it is great seeing the change that comes over her. Anthony Michael Hall is creepy as the main villain and you will definitely be rooting for others! Finally, Johnny Depp perfectly portrays the shy, withdrawn Edward, and you will truly be drawn further into the movie as you see his performance!

This is a wonderful movie that gives you a bit of everything. If you have never seen this before, you need to watch this today!
