Dos Ron 16 - Dad of Divas

Every now and again I appreciate a good drink. I enjoy trying new things as many dads do and when I hear about new brands that I have not tried I am always game to try something new. Recently I learned about a new rum brand that just recently made it’s US debut in Michigan: Dos Ron, a premium 16-year-old barrel-aged rum and I was excited when they asked me to try their rum to share with you.

While I was waiting for the Dos Ron to arrive I read more abut the company. Dos Ron is crafted and hand distilled by Carlos Morfa from his father’s authentic Cuban family recipes, and Dos Ron 16 serves as a lasting tribute to his father that I know that I always love to see.

Dos Ron 16 Year Rum:

The appeal of this rum lies in its clarity, brilliance and extraordinary presence in the glass.

My Take on Dos Ron 16

When the Dos Ron 16 arrived I was impressed by the quality of the bottle itself. On the bottle you will see how this was aged 16 years and just looking at the bottle you will note that it is a heavy duty bottle that really stands out.

The coloring of Dos Ron 16 is a nice deep gold with a tinge of red. At first glance and has a strong nose with aromas of wood and molasses. My initial sip was without any ice and was strong and full bodied. I then added ice and found that the spirit relaxed a bit following some time passing, giving it a few minutes to rest. I also tried this for cocktails and found that you could still make out the flavor of the rum itself, but you do lose some of the bold taste that is Dos Ron 16.

While I did not get this for fathers day, there are many days where this could be a great gift for a father. National Rum Appreciation Day is August 15 if you are looking for a gift. However, you could simply give this as a gift any day!
