Upside Down Magic

About the movie

In Upside-Down Magic, when 13-year-old Nory discovers she can flux into animals and best pal Reina can manipulate flames, they enter the Sage Academy for Magical Studies. But Nory’s wonky magic and tendency for turning into a “Dritten” – a half-kitten, half-dragon – lands her in a class for those with unconventional powers, and she and her classmates must prove that their upside–down magic beats right-side up!

Cast

  • Izabela Rose as Nory Boxwood Horace;
  • Siena Agudong as Reina Carvajal;
  • Kyle Howard as Budd Skriff;
  • Max Torina as Andres Padillo;
  • Elie Samouhi as Elliot Cohen;
  • Alison Fernandez as Pepper Paloma;
  • Vicki Lewis as Headmaster Knightslinger;
  • Yasmeen Fletcher as Chandra;
  • Callum Seagram Airlie as Phillip;
  • Cynthia McWilliams as Professor Argon;
  • Elaine Hao as Professor Han;
  • Amitai Marmorstein as Professor Lewis

My Take on the Movie

As someone that has read the book, I will say that the storyline and characters of this movie mostly don’t follow the book. There are a number of extras and the storyline is a bit different, with new characters that were not in the book itself. That being said though the movie was still a fun movie for the whole family to watch together.

The movie had a very diverse cast which was great to see. Whether you have read the book or not, I would still recommend the movie as a family friendly movie. If you have read the book, go into watching the movie with a clean slate. Enjoy the movie, the characters and the plot and you will find that it was a fun way to spend some quality family time.

The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot

About the Book

As a young chipmunk, shy, bookish Rockford T. Honeypot had dreams of thrilling adventures across the forest. However, timid of danger and germs, his only adventures were found in books and in his imagination. When his family abandons him after a mistake that destroys their hazelnut business, Rockford sets off on a legendary journey beyond his wildest dreams. From exploring cuisines with a famous chef, training with ancient warrior monks, flying on giant hawks, finding true love, and much more, Rockford recounts his epic origin story of hardship, perseverance, and fortune.

My Take on the Book
This was such a fun book that brings together a slew of characters that you will not soon forget. The characters are fun and on each page you will go on the adventure with the characters. The message of living a full life resounds in this book and anyone that reads it will definitely think to themselves about how they are living the fullest life that they can. Also, I loved to see how these animals found ways to live in harmony together and how so many worked to help one another in so many ways. The book was an inspirational read and definitely one that I would recommend to all!

My Take on Frozen 2

For me I was so looking forward to seeing Frozen 2. While yes, I am a man, I am also a father of two daughters that simply adored Frozen. All of this being said, we put this up on a pedestal and we were really looking forward to see what would come next. In watching this, I can say that we all loved the movie. The music was memorable and the 80’s ballad in this made my wife and I laugh. Beyond this, we loved how this movie ties up some of the questions from the original movie and keeps it open to possible movies or sequels int he future. The movie was a great sequel and definitely left me with a huge smile on my face. After watching this my daughters and I actually decided to watch this again and you will too!

My take on these movies

As someone that grew up with Aladdin I was super excited to see how the new Aladdin would be and how well Will Smith would embody the role of the Genie. In watching the original movie again before seeing the new one I have to say that the original Aladdin still was a ton of fun and Robin Williams was over the top in his portrayal of the Genie. The cartoon is able to create a world that allowed all viewers to suspend their belief and get lost during the movie. Even after all of these years I still found myself getting lost in the movie!

The new movie was similar to the first in many ways, but also different too. I felt that the actors in the movie did a great job of embodying their characters. Will Smith created a new Genie and for me it was not a question of was he as good as Robin Williams as his characterization of the Genie was very different than Robin Williams, in a good way. The movie has great music and even new songs too. The movie is a non-stop adventure and you will love how the movie begins and ends and how the whole movie is tied together, I know that I did!

The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
