My Take on The Season

This was a great follow-up to season one. I loved the arc and the villains that are in this season. On top of this, you get to see some of the main characters struggling with some big things which made the characters even more relatable. I felt that the season did a good job of bringing the season to a close while still leaving us on pins and needles with what might come next with the new villains that are coming and old friends finding powers that might turn them evil. The end of this season really made me question what will come in season three, but I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Batman: Damned

About the Book

The Joker has been murdered. His killer is a mystery. Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective. But what happens when the person he is searching for is the man staring back at him in the mirror?

There is no doubt about that. But whether Batman finally snapped his scrawny neck or some other sinister force in Gotham City did the deed is still a mystery.

Problem is, Batman can’t remember…and the more he digs into this labyrinthine case, the more he starts to doubt everything he’s uncovering.

So who better to set him straight than…John Constantine?

The problem with that is as much as John loves a good mystery, he loves messing with people’s heads even more. So with John’s “help,” the pair will delve into the sordid underbelly of Gotham as they race toward the mind-blowing truth of who murdered the Joker.

Batman: Damned is a groundbreaking supernatural horror story told by two of comics’ greatest modern creators: Brian Azzarello (Dark Knight III: The Master Race, 100 Bullets) and Lee Bermejo (Hellblazer, Joker).

This is a story that was raw, full of grit and power. This book has a ton of substance throughout the entire book. The book itself is amazing full of a great story, great illustrations and more. This is definitely a dark book, but it is also an indication of where the story of Batman is going. The book itself really looks at Bruce Wayne and Batman. You need to take time with this book and really explore all of the intricacies of the man who is the bat. It is a dark book that for some may be too dark, but I will say that it is an amazing book that makes you think about Batman in a new way! Game Review: LEGO DC Super-Villains

March 17, 2019 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and DC Entertainment today announced LEGO® DC Super-Villains, the first LEGO game to put players at the center of a villain-centric adventure packed with favorite locations and characters from across the DC universe.  For the first time, a LEGO game is giving players the ability to create and play as their own DC Super-Villain throughout the game. Their character becomes the center of the story, while teaming up with an iconic variety of villains to adventure through the hilarious and original story written in collaboration with DC. LEGO® DC Super-Villains will be available October 16, 2018 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One X®, Nintendo Switch™, and PC.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains provides players a fun and humorous way to cause mischief by unleashing their DC Super-Villain’s sinister powers and amusing abilities,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “With an unprecedented amount of customization options to choose from, players can create and customize their character at the start of the story, unlocking new powers and abilities as they progress through the funniest LEGO game to date.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“The original story in LEGO DC Super-Villains flips the DC universe upside down as players embark on an unforgettable adventure starring memorable villains set across notable DC locations,” said Ames Kirshen, Vice President, Interactive & Animation, DC Entertainment. “DC’s roster of iconic Super-Villains is unmatched and fans will love teaming up with The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and a host of others to save Earth from a greater evil.”

LEGO DC Super-Villains

“LEGO DC Super-Villains gives players a new way to play with their favorite DC characters with a splash of light-hearted, villainous antics,” said Sean McEvoy, VP Digital Games, The LEGO Group. “Players will enjoy exploring the expansive DC universe in the way only a LEGO game can deliver.”

In LEGO DC Super-Villains, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe, proclaiming themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’. Renowned DC Super-Villains from the ‘Legion Of Doom’ discover Earth’s newest heroes may not be the heroes they claim to be. With each player’s completely customizable Super-Villain character in command, this team of misfit lawbreakers must join forces to discover and foil the evil plans the incognito strangers have in store.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

At the beginning of the campaign, players can create their own unique villain and main character throughout, while also teaming up with a variety of DC Super-Villains throughout the story mode. As players progress, they will unlock new abilities, powers and can continue to customize their character to take on the evil threat. Friends and family can join story mode at any time with the fun, two-player, local co-op experiences where players can team up in epic boss fights.

A Deluxe Edition of the game, featuring the main game content, Season Pass content and early access to the DC Super-Villains: TV Series DLC Character Pack, is now available for pre-order.  An exclusive LEGO minifigure, Lex Luthor Superman, also comes with the physical version of the Deluxe Edition, while digital consumers will receive the Justice League Dark DLC Character Pack with their Deluxe Edition.

My Take on the Game

One of the things that I like the most about LEGO games is that they are so family friendly and they are made to be played by any and all. I would have to say that in playing many other LEGO games, this game is one of the most fun games that I have played recently. As a fan of the DC Universe, I have played games that focus on heroes, but not on villains.

In playing the game I have to say that the game play was better than I expected. Even better though was the plot itself. I found that the plot was much better than the last LEGO Marvel game that I played in the past.

It was a lot of fun to take control of the villains that you did not always think you would have an opportunity to control, and interact with others that again, you would not have thought possible.

In this game the super villains have to come to the rescue to save the world from Earth 3 Justice League dopplegangers. As you use your character you will find that the character interactions are authentic and that there is some great banter going on as well as some cool non-verbal cues as well.

One of the things that was unique in my opinion was the fact that you could create your own super villain. With this, you could build their powers up throughout the game and while you may not play your character most of the game, it is still fun to have the character there in the background just in case.

In the game, much like other LEGO based games you will defeat enemies, collect LEGO studs and solve puzzles as you work through the levels.

Puzzles are character ability specific. Some areas in the level are locked first playthrough since some characters abilities can’t be used until later since they’re not unlocked during the time of the story.

Boss battles are somewhat easy. Most come down to: wait for them to do their special attack, they will get dizzy, then do a free hit on them. Keep doing this and you will win!

This is a fun game and if you love DC you will love this, as it gives you a taste of the evil-doers for once!

Movie Review – Teen Titans Go! to the Movies

November 6, 2018 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Teen Titans GO! to the Movies 3D

When the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big! “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” finds our egocentric, wildly satirical superheroes in their first feature film extravaganza—a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers. Get ready to LOL when “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital.

The first-ever big-screen version of DC Entertainment and Cartoon Network’s animated TV show stars Greg Cipes (TV’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) as Beast Boy, Scott Menville (TV’s “Spider-Man”) as Robin, Khary Payton (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) as Cyborg, Tara Strong (the “My Little Pony” franchise) as Raven, and Hynden Walch (TV’s “Adventure Time with Finn & Jake”) as Starfire, reprising their roles from the series. Will Arnett (“The LEGO® Batman Movie”) and Kristen Bell (“Frozen”) also lend their voices as the evil Slade and Hollywood director Jade Wilson.

Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath directed the film from a screenplay by Michael Jelenic and Horvath, which is based on characters from DC. Horvath, Jelenic, Peggy Regan, Michail and Arnett produced the film with Sam Register serving as executive producer. The music is by Jared Faber. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and DVD for $28.98. The Blu-ray Combo Pack features a Blu-ray disc with the film and special features in high definition, a DVD with the film in standard definition and a Digital version of the movie. Blu-ray special features are filled with music and fun, including the “DC Super Hero Girls: The Late Batsby” mini-movie, sing-a-longs, a hilarious look at the Teen Titans characters dubbing their favorite lines in other languages in “Teen Titans GO!: Translated” plus much more!

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” will also be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.

Fans can also own “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” via purchase from digital retailers beginning October 9.

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” Blu-ray Combo Pack contains the following special features:

  • Lil Yachty Music Video: “Teen Titans GO! Rap”
  • Sing-a-long with Silkie “DC Super Hero Girls: The Late Batsby” Mini-Movie
  • Red Carpet Mayhem
  • Teen Titans GO! To the Movies: WB Lot Shenanigans
  • “Everything is Fake”: Exclusive song not in the movie
  • “Teen Titans GO!: Translated”
  • Storyboard Animatics:
    • Storyboard Animatics: Time Cycles
    • The Final Battle

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” Standard Definition DVD contains the following special features:

  • Storyboard Animatics: Time Cycles
  • The Final Battle

My Take on the Movie

I had watched many of the other Teen Titan cartoons in the past and as a comic fan and fan of the comic Teen Titans too. While the cartoon became quite a bit different than the comic. It brought in comedy and you get to see the Teen Titans in a way that was similar and a bit different than the original series.

This movie explores why the Titans and in specific, Robin, can’t get a movie made about him. The Titans realize that they need an archnemesis to be more popular. They get a chance to find popularity as they go up against Slade (a character that reminds me a bit of Deadpool). Slade quickly sees how inept the Teen Titans are and he takes advantage of this. The movie shows the Teen Titans as a bit of a joke and kind of anti-heroes.

Robin’s single focus is a bit of an issue as he leaves his friends, endangers others and more. By doing this he runs afoul of some of the major super heroes alsong with his friends too.

This movie was definitely funny and I will also complement the music as well.

Despite its silly plot, and the random feel of the movie, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is a fun way to spend an hour an half. If you loved the Teen Titans cartoon from the past you will lov at a movie theater. It isn’t a masterpiece, but boy was it fun watching the Titans get into hilariously, stupid situations. Fans of comic book movies will love the homage this movie pays to the films of the genre, but casual viewers may find this movie super silly and totally illogical.
