My Review of the DVD

This was a fun DVD that really helped me as a beginner to learn some great dance steps. I cannot say that I am an expert, but I at least have a few more moves that I can now call my own. This DVD looks at 4 dances on 4 discs (Salsa – Merengue – Swing – Bachata). Each disk gives you a ton of content and you leave knowing a ton more than what you started with (that’s an understatement).

I liked the format of the disks and each are consistent so you know what to expect. The coaches are good and you can easily watch them and then repeat what you are seeing. What was nice was that because this was a DVD you could easily move forward or backward if you needed.

On each dance you gain a better understanding of the men’s movement, the women’s movement as well as how you have to flow together as a couple.

Like I said I am not an expert, but I am learning and this DVD is really one that helped me to start my journey and it can for you too!

About the DVD
Amazing SEVEN DVD Holiday Dance Set!

Learn 4 Different Dances from the Start. Super HOT!
All the basics, from your first steps (Great Holiday Gift)

This is a great Ballroom Dance Mastery System, a 7 DVD set for Beginner’s to learn all the major social ballroom dances. Great for beginners learning how to dance.

Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba – Woohoo!

Designed for beginners, no dance experience is required.
My Take on the DVD
We have been a huge fan of dancing shows in the past but I have never really danced or learned to dance myself. This set gave my wife and I the perfect opportunity to try and learn some steps myself. While we knew that it would not be too easy, we wanted to give it a try for ourselves to see. This DVD set was great because it had a bit of everything in it. It covered a little of everything and the instruction was easy to understand and even for my wife and I with no dancing instruction we were easily able to follow this.As mentioned this program has a bit of everything. The set includes:

  • Beginners Foxtrot – (80 minutes)
  • Beginners Waltz Vol. 1 – (63 minutes)
  • Beginners Walts Vol. 2 – (52 minutes)
  • Beginners Swing Vol. 1 – (111 minutes)
  • Beginners Swing Vol. 2 – (54 minutes)
  • Beginners Rumba Vol. 1 – (68 minutes)
  • Beginners Rumba Vol. 2 – (54 minutes)

As mentioned we have been trying to use this for the past week or so and while I cannot say that we are masters at it yet, we are getting better. Each dance is broken down for you and let me tell you they are truly a workout too!

These disks have been a ton of fun thus far, and my wife and I are looking forward to continuing learning even more as we move forward!

My Take on the DVD

I have two divas within my household which are definitely princesses in their own right. They love to dance their own dance style, so I was thinking that they would enjoy this, but I was amazed as they started to watch how much they were engaged in the film.

Both of my girls had their eyes glued to the television and as they watched they loved trying out the dances that they were being taught. As an educator myself, I loved seeing the educational components within the film. This education was a true creative arts gem. It provided the opportunity for kids to not only learn about dance, but also about music and themselves.

My kids have been told the story of Sleeping Beauty in the past (What Diva wouldn’t?), but they have never seen the ballet itself, so this was an extra special treat for them. I highly recommend the video, your own little princesses will love it!

Book Review – Prima Princess Ballet for Beginners

    June 12, 2010 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

    About the Book
The Prima Princessa’s Ballet for Beginners book is a gorgeous full color hard cover 80 page book, and at $11.53 on Amazon.com is the perfect gift for ballet loving girls! It’s a fantastic introduction to ballet, with a
comprehensive index of ballet terms and basic steps chock full of fabulous photos showing each move, demonstrated by students from the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official academy of the New York City Ballet.

Visit the Prima Princess website www.PrimaPrincessa.com for all of your Ballet related resources. This ballet web-site is quickly becoming The Complete Ballet Resource: with listings of 100s of ballet schools and summer camps, a ballet dictionary, listings of where to buy ballet tutus, free ballet coloring pages and much more.

    My Take on the Book
While my girls are not ballet dancers (at least not yet), they did love the Prima Princess DVD that I reviewed before, so I thought that this book would be a great addition to the growing dance collection that the Divadom was collecting. In reading the book to my girls I was impressed with the number of of great resources within the book. As mentioned above the book is a treasure trove of images and easy to understand information on EVERYTHING ballet.

I would easily say that this book would be a great gift and resource for any aspiring ballet dancer!

    Dancing Like A Princess

    July 14, 2008 by dadofdivas 4 Comments

Diva-J is truly a princess in training. Yesterday, while listening to the Village People, yes, a blast back tot he 70’s and 80’s I caught her on my digital camera doing the following… just kind of fun! (I am going to put it up even though for some reason everytime I upload it it comes out sideways…you will get the idea and it is only 30 seconds long)!
