Inside Out Toys & DVD/Blu-ray is Now Available Everywhere! #InsideOutEmotions

November 6, 2015 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Inside Out Is Now Available on Blu-ray and DVD
Inside Out Emotions are shown through the new Tomy toys that are available for all ages!

I am so excited that Inside Out is now out on DVD! My kids, well, who am I kidding, the whole family loved this movie when it initially came out, and we knew walking out of the theater that this would be in our movie library too. As the movie got closer and close to being released my girls had been seeing all of the amazing toys that are also out in the stores and online and they have been clamoring for them. This was especially true when it came to Joy and Anger toys. Don’t ask me why these characters specifically, but each daughter had their favorites, my oldest loved Anger and my youngest loved Joy!

Inside Out Is Now Available on Blu-ray and DVD

Recently I took a trip to my local Walmart because I wanted to surprise my girls with some Inside Out today to celebrate the release of the Inside Out movie this week. Before going to the store, I checked out all of the amazing Inside Out toys that were on the Walmart website. I did not know what I would find in store specifically, but I was impressed with the variety that I found online.

Because I went to the store on November 3, I also decided to pick up the Inside Out movie too. My kids had no idea I was going to surprise them like this so this was going to be a ton of fun!

Inside Out Toys

After I found the movie, I went to check out the toys and specifically what they had in regards to the Anger and Joy characters. In going to the store I had to search a bit to find what was there.

InsideOutToys

It took a little bit of looking around to find the TOMY toys at Walmart, but when I did I was lucky enough to find exactly what I was looking for. As mentioned, the characters of Anger and Joy were the two characters that resonated with my girls, and as luck would have it, those were the two characters that they had. So I purchased both!

Inside Out Is Now Available on Blu-ray and DVD

As I took the movie and TOMY toys home I can tell you that the girls were ecstatic. They jumped up and down and they were so on board with having a movie night then and there! We pulled out the movie and popped some popcorn – it was as  amazing watching this the second time as it was when we saw it in the movie theater!

Remember that Inside Out is now available for purchase and as you can see there are some great TOMY toys too that will truly make the movie come live, and open up the imagination of your kids too!

Be sure to pick up your copy of Inside Out at Walmart!. I’d love to hear about your DVD watch party plans!

Even Picky Cats Like Purina Muse ® Natural Cat Food #ad

September 29, 2015 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Purina-Muse

This shop has compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyCatMyMuse #CollectiveBias

When it comes to my cats I do whatever I can to make sure that they are taken care of. I see them as a part of my family and thus I try my best to find top notch food that they will like, but also that provides them grain free natural nutrition and is good for them.

Unfortunately for us we have one cat that is VERY picky. She tens to like what she likes and turns her nose up at almost everything else. That being said we have tried a lot of different types of cat foods over the years to let her experience things and sometimes we are successful and sometimes we are not.

I had never heard of Purina Muse® Natural Cat Food before I found it at my local PetSmart the other day. When I was walking up the aisles I saw Purina Muse and also saw that not only was it on sale, but there were coupons available too – SCORE! As a dad who likes to save money, when I can buy two cans and get two free, what could be better than that!

Purina-Muse

Before I bought, I took out my cell phone and decided to check out the Purina website, and specifically to look at this specific line of products to learn a bit more. You see, as I mentioned, I like to be informed, and I want to provide natural nutrition and quality ingredients to my furry family members. As I was looking into this, a few things stood out to me:

  • Purina Muse provides wet recipes in Chowder, in Broth, with Toppers, in Gravy and Paté, so no matter what your cat likes, they have created some very unique dishes in different varieties.
  • All of the Purina Muse recipes are made with real fish or poultry (and many times mixed varieties too).
  • There are no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives in Purina Muse.
  • Purina Muse is 100% complete and balanced for adult cats
  • There are 30 Purina Muse recipes available and depending on the store you frequent you may find all or only some of these.
  • 24 grain-free Purina Muse varieties

I decided to get a variety of Purina Muse types to see what my cats would enjoy. I was very impressed with the selection and the combinations available as I do not believe I have ever seen a cat food with carrot mixed in before!

Purina-Muse

I broght home the Purina Muse and decided to use it right away to see how my cats would react. Of course my two youngest, who like to eat almost anything, were all over me the moment I opened the can. I randomly selected one and gave it to them on the plate and in less than a minute the entire plate was clean.

Purina-Muse

I even videotaped this as one of my younger cats was even growling at her brother as she was eating the Purina Muse, she liked it that much!

Now the bigger test for us was my older cat. She is the one that I was mentioning earlier was my pick eater. I selected the Natural Mackerel variety as I knew that she loved tuna from the can, so I thought this could be another good possibility. I provided the food to her and amazingly she cleaned the plate. She didn’t even leave any for her younger siblings to finish. This is not something that is normal for her. She is very picky and only likes certain brands and types of foods, but we now have added Purina Muse to that list, and I, for one, am so glad that we tried it for her!

Purina-Muse

My overall impressions of Purina Muse this far has been extremely positive. I love the full pieces in some of the varieties, and even better was the mixture of recipes that are on the shelves. Purina has really provided a quality product that allows me to rest assured that my cats are getting quality food. With Muse you don’t have to choose between natural nutrition and food that tastes great.

If my cats could talk they would agree with what Purina Muse says: Natural has never been so delicious. Put Muse to the test with our clean plate guarantee.

We put the clean plate guarantee to the test and we definitely ended up with a clean plate and I am sure that you will too!

If you want to try this out for your own cats, Purina Muse is offering a great coupon right now! I highly encourage you to try this with your own cats!

Best Buy=Deals & Great Service #OneBuyForAll #shop

December 13, 2013 by dadofdivas 2 Comments

Collective Bias Disclosure, #cbiasBest Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

I’m a guy, but you probably guessed that by the name of my blog. When it comes to gifts, what do I and so many guys love, you guessed it, electronics and gadgets. Yes this is a generalization, but it is one that I continually hear from other guys that I know. For me, one of my first stops when shopping for electronics is Best Buy. Why shop here first versus going online? For me, I have to be honest and say that I will do my research online and read up on brands and what I may be looking for, but there is something about Best Buy and their employees that to me gives me peace of mind. Also, the staff there are so knowledgeable. I know that I can go in and ask any question and they seemingly always have the answer or know someone else has the answer.  Online you do not always have the “experts” available for you and instead you have to search more and make your best guess or ask others online for their opinions.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

The other thing that Best Buy does that you cannot get online is the ability to get your hands on most of the items that they sell and give them a test drive. On my visit to the store I saw many examples of adults and kids alike trying out phones, tablets, computers, televisions and so much more. These people were seeing first hand the benefits of the technology and always in the background were the helpful staff members that were eager to aid them with questions.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

I always love having the ability to simply bask in the technology that surrounds you when you come into the store. Both seeing how things work as well as leaning through tactile means (which is how I tend to learn best).

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

I also love the breadth and depth of products that are available. Not only will you find televisions and computers, but you also will find musical instruments, household appliances, games and more. If it is technology related, best buy seems to have a connection to it.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

I also like that Best Buy tends to have great prices from what I have seen in the past and I have ended up purchasing a number of things from them in the past (such as my Nikon DSLR camera that I own) because they had the best price as well as bundling that also is sometimes available depending on the product itself. On this trip, outside of a giftcard that I purchased, I also was looking for some new memory for my camera and they had a great sale going on for a 32GB card, which is great because I end up taking a lot of pictures and memories, so size and price of card really matters.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

As I was preparing this story, I found a cool item that Best buy is now offering. For those of you on Twitter or even if you are not, Best Buy has put together a cool trending tool so that you can see what everyone is talking about. Best Buy’s trending page to show what gadgets are currently trending on Twitter (www.bestbuy.com/trending?ref=70&loc=12). Not surprisingly, apple’s IPhone and IPad are the numbers one and two at the writing of this.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

Best Buy is rewarding the Gift-Giver, from December 11-24th, every time a customer purchases a $25 or more Best Buy gift card, in-store or online, they can scan/enter their gift card number to enter for a chance to win one of the daily prizes. Customers can enter via the Best Buy app by scanning their card or by going to www.bestbuy.com/givetowin/?ref=70&loc=12   and entering their card number.

Best Buy, #shop, #cbias, #OneBuyForAll

(1) Grand Prize: $10,000 Best Buy gift card, (5) First Prizes: $500 Best Buy gift card, (10) Second Prizes: $100 Best Buy gift card, (40) Third Prizes: $50 Best Buy gift card

So as you are going out to

Odwalla (@odwalla) and Champions For Kids Changing Lives Within Communities #cbias #Odwalla4Kids

I am continually working with my kids to help them to be able to be people that give back to the community that they live in. I have been lucky enough to be able to work with some brands in the past that have allowed me to be able to do this and to get my children involved.

Odwalla, a brand that I tried in the past truly love is working with a program called Champions for Kids that works to works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond. Their goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020.  One of the ways in which they are trying to mobilize individuals is through providing healthy breakfast options for all children once they leave school for the summer.

I know that even in my own community we have over 70 families who rely on our local food bank to be able to have the food they need throughout the year. Many of the kids in the family’s attend the same schools as my own and they rely on the breakfast food that they receive at school and the free and reduced lunches that they receive to supplement the food that they receive from our food bank.

odwalla

With that in mind I set out to again have my kids make a difference in our local community by going out and purchasing Odwalla products for our local food bank to donate to help feed these children over the summer. On top of the list we also reached out to all of the second grade classrooms in my daughter’s elementary school to begin a few week process to collect breakfast items that could be donated by a second graders and their families to the food bank – again to support their efforts on feeding families that really need it in our community.

Walmart #cbias #Odwalla4Kids

The shopping process itself went pretty well and we went to our local Super Walmart which is about 15 minutes away from our home. In entering the store I did have some difficulty finding the products that I was looking for, but I ended up finding the Odwalla bars themselves in the produce section of the store. I would not have originally thought to look here, but knowing how natural the products are, it seems to make more sense that this is where they were now that I think about it. On top of the bars, I was also looking for the new juice boxes that they are carrying for kids, but my store did not carry this, and the only beverage that they did carry was not one that I thought would stay good for the time that I needed it to.

odwalla, #cbias, #Odwalla4Kids

I was impressed with the variety of bars that were available from Odwalla, and in looking at the nutritional content I was also very impressed. My kids and I snacked on an extra bar that we purchased and the kids devoured it (a good sign for the kids that are going to be receiving these at our local food bank.

odwalla, #cbias, #Odwalla4Kids

This past weekend was the spring food drive for our Food Bank so this project fit in nicely with that. We went though the house looking for any other food that we could donate and found some extra as well. After a full morning of Soccer, we ventured over to our Food Bank to deliver our food.

odwalla, #cbias, #Odwalla4Kids

The Director of our local Food Bank is always excited to see my kids and I as she knows that we always bring some fun things. She was quite happy with the delivery that we made on this visit as well as she mentioned that this was the first time that people have brought this type of food in and she thought it would be a great addition to the food that they were planning to give out in the near future to the local families utilizing their services.

odwalla, #cbias, #Odwalla4Kids

At the end of all of this my eldest daughter came to me and said, can we do something like this again?  As you can tell this was a proud  dad moment and we are now looking for future ways to engage with both the food bank as well as in other areas in the future. I am hopeful that the second grade project will be successful as well as I know that this will be a big hit with them as well once we get them all involved!

Making the 4th of July That Much Better With @Sears #SearsPatio #GrillingIsHappiness #cbias

July 4, 2012 by dadofdivas 18 Comments

For me the 4th of July has always been about family and celebrations. Whether it has been celebrating at home or at family or friend’s home, we always tend to get together with others to celebrate the great nation that we live in, but also just celebrating the ties that bind us together. This year, instead of traveling to my inlaw’s house, we will be having a celebration at home (much of the reasoning behind this is because of what day of the week the 4th falls this year). We will be having a few friends and their kids over and will be having our own little celebration followed by fireworks that are sent up at a church which is within sight distance of our home, so we can watch them from our deck.

I am not the type of person to go all out with decorations or anything like that, but we do plan to have our whole deck set out and allow for the kids to have their own table as well so that they can have fun too. Don’t get me wrong, the American Flag will be flying and we might even have some fireworks of our own!

I was excited to be selected to work with Collective Bias on the #SearsPatio #GrillingIsHappiness campaign, as I had not been to Sears in a while and had not really explored the Sears Outdoor Living Section lately, as the last time I was there was around Christmas time and there were no outdoor patio sets or grills available at that time (or at least the selection of grills was vastly limited). I was asked to either shop fora new Patio Set or a New Grill, and let me tell you this was not an easy decision as both were needed and Sears did offer some great options for both.

When I went to the store I was impressed by the variety of things that they offered in store, as I had explored their online site (See below for links) and I knew that they had a wide selection of grills and patio sets. I was particularly impressed with the number of grills that they had in stock. From Weber to Charbroil and many others, you have a wide variety to select from.

I weighed my options and found a number of patio sets that I liked in the store, and I would have to say that the grill conundrum was equal, as my mind was left a bit boggled as there were so many options.

The salesperson that we worked with was very helpful and I was interested to see that he and his fellow co-workers were all using IPad devices to connect customers with their online sites. He showed me the items online as well as reviews that were there and as I continued my exploration, he kept track on his IPad of the items we were considering. At the end of the shopping trip he let me know about this and that he would email me links to all of the products that I had been considering in the store. How slick is that, and all he had to do is get my phone number and based on my Shop Your Way Rewards Account, he sent everything to my home email address.

I decided not to purchase anything at first as I wanted to go home and think about all of my options, explore the links that had just been sent to me as well as the rest of the Sears site itself and then make a final decision.

When I got home, the email that the salesperson mentioned was there and there were a ton of great resources included in the email itself. I explored these and the Sears website and I found both to be very helpful. I was happy to see that they had a review section as in two cases, patio sets that I considered were not receiving positive reviews from customers in regards to their overall outdoor durabilty, so I chose to steer away from these.

In the end, my wife and I chose to go with a new grill. Why did we choose this? Well, we do a lot of grilling and have come to find that Michigan weather is many times rough on grills. I have never had a grill that has held up to the elements after only a few years, nor a grill that I would write home about saying that it cooked better than what I could do inside (which really is not grilling). I have been a fan from a distance of Weber Grills for some time, but have never stepped forward to purchase one due to the overall cost. This shop gave me the opportunity to step over this and purchase the Spirit Weber Grill. I would have preferred the Genesis (The next size up), but no Sears stores in our area had this available and I would have had to pay over $100 for shipping, so that was not really an option.

I have just put this grill together in time for the 4th and I found that it did take a little longer than I had first thought, as I misused a few screws that I thought were to be used in another area, so it was definitely user error on my part. We ended up having our 4th of July Big get-together yesterday, and the grill worked amazingly well. The meat cooked thoroughly and I was impressed with how easy it was to use. The picture below shows you the last batch of meat that I had to throw on after my first batch was complete (people were eating a lot). People remarked later that the meat tasted great and I know that in part it was because of the tools that I was able to use!

What about you? What are your plans this 4th of July and is grilling a part of the plan?

I Took the Brave Woman ( @Brave_Woman ) 2012 Pledge, Will You? #cbias #bravewoman

January 13, 2012 by dadofdivas 3 Comments

What Is Brave Woman?

Brave Woman is a grassroots movement to shift personal and public perception of women facing domestic violence situations from a victim mentality to one of courage and strength. The ultimate goal is action to create a world community that

  • Supports difficult decisions involved in creating a new life of safety, healing and independence.
  • Is aware of the presence of domestic violence and its impact on families.

THEIR SHARED VISION is that every woman and child will have the supportive resources they need to live without fear in their homes and see themselves as courageous victors, finally free from family violence.

They are networking with international advocates to end domestic violence one woman, one family at a time.  Become a Brave Woman Champion. Take the pledge today and join other brave women in your area. Everyone who joins the Brave Woman community receives a free download of Jana Stanfield’s song, What Would I Do Today If I Were Brave and other sources of reflection and encouragement.

Why I took the Pledge

While my life has never been touched recently by domestic violence, I have seen this in my own family. I have a grandmother that lived with violence in both of her marriages and though I never saw it happen personally, it changed her as I know it does for all women who this effects.

I chose to take the pledge as a man and as a father to stand up for women all-over that have been impacted by violence to support them and to encourage them to take a stand and to do what they need to do to break the cycle of violence and stand on their own.

At the same time I feel that I need to take a stand to not let others be disrespected and humiliated by violence or words, and I want to let other women know that I am there to support them if and when they are ready to take the stand that they need to take as well.

I highly encourage all to take the pledge and take a stand like I am today!

Decorating My House thanks to Sears #Searsrealcheer #CBias

December 2, 2011 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

As I said in my earlier post about shopping for holiday lights, I purchased about 5 strands of lights on Black Friday (yes I got up that early).

Luckily on the same day we were having a bit of an Indian Summer experience with temperatures in the 60’s which is completely abnormal for weather in Michigan in late November, but perfect weather for setting up Christmas lights and not freezing my tail off!

So when I got home (and after a bit of a resting period) I began pulling out the Christmas decorations and figuring out what I would want to put outside (outside of the items I had already purchased from Sears).  As I started to pull them out and starting installing them, I found that I could really use more lights that I had initially purchased. I still moved forward, but I did wish that I could have more.

Installation of the lights was easy and I loved the handy light reel that they came on as it made for easy unraveling and I am sure it will make it that much more easy to take the lights down too. Putting together the snoopy that I purchased at Sears was also easy, though I found that I needed something heavier than the small stakes that we received in the box to hold it down in the wind that we sometimes get at our house.

As I finished hanging a wreath and some garland on the outside of my house the sun was just starting to set so I was excited to try out the lights to see how it all looked. I knew that I was a bit short on lights (at least in my perspective) but I continued with vigor and knew that it would look great. As the sun dipped below the horizon I synchronized our timers and turned on the lights and found that the lights looked quite good. I still would have liked to have had more lights, but with what I had it looked very good and the family agreed.

Seeing that I did think we needed more lights I did go back to the Sears Holiday Shop the next day and found that they were out of the warm white lights (Bummer)!  Luckily though I found that they were offering the same lights online with free shipping for the same cost!

All-in-all I was so glad to have the opportunity to shop at Sears for my holiday lights this season. I have never used their holiday shop in the past but seeing the breadth and depth of lights and the competitive pricing that they offer I will be sure to return in the future!

Doing a Little Holiday Light Shopping at Sears #Searsrealcheer #cbias

December 2, 2011 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Christmas in our house is always one of my favorite times in the year. We love going all out in decorating inside and outside. Lately thought I have been having some challenges with our outdoor lights in regards to the fact that our lights kept going out and every year it seemed like more and more of them would show up as not working (so frustrating).

I have been looking to be able to transition my outdoor lighting to LED lights but every time I look into it the cost was always a bit prohibitive and thus I was always a bit wary of making the jump. I was recently asked though to go to Sears and check out their Holiday Shop and in specific in their outdoor lighting section to make my LED transition a reality thanks to Sears and Collective Bias, so as you can imagine I was quite excited!

I decided to be a bit crazy and get up at the crack of dawn for black friday sales seeing that Sears had their 200 count LED lights at 50% off. Getting up at 3:30 in the morning is not what I call my cup of tea, but I did it none-the-less because I like to save money (I am a bit frugal you know).

Sears was opening their doors at 4:00 AM so I wanted to be there toward the beginning so I could be sure to receive the lights that I wanted. When I got to the store the parking lot was a bit packed, but the doors had just opened and everyone was already inside so I jumped into the craziness.

Amazingly, there was no one in the holiday shop when I got there. I think everyone had gone directly to the craftsman tools or other items, as I was left to shop in peace. The only issue was the fact that there were no carts and thus carrying 6-7 reels of lights was no fun! I looked around for a bit looking for the lights and then found that they had been placed on an endcap (right in front of the nose on my face if you were).

Seeing that I never purchased LED lights before I had to do a bit of comparison shopping as there were two types of LED lights so I had to test them both out. One was much more harsh and stark white than the other and with that in mind I decided to purchase the warm white lights as I thought they would be more similar to what we have had in the past. The only challenge that I found was figuring out how many strands I would need to purchase. I ended up purchasing 5 strands as I thought that this would be enough at the time.

At the same time I saw an animate Snoopy and Woodstock that was just too cool, so I ended up splurging and getting our first item that was animated for our outside decor, I knew that my kids would just love it when I brought it home and installed it!

I got lucky in checking out as I also purchased a jewelry armoire for my wife and thus when I was in the furniture department that were good enough to be willing to let me check out there (no line) and I did not have to wait in the line that had at least 100 people within it (how luck am I).

Overall, I was impressed with the size, breadth and depth of holiday decorations that Sears had in their Holiday Shop. I would highly recommend that if you are looking for some great holiday decorations that you take a look at Sears as one of your first stops this holiday season.
