Set Enterprise Games Bring the Family Together

August 26, 2015 by dadofdivas 1 Comment

Set-Enterprises
 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg
I had the opportunity to try out a few new Set Enterprise games. I have played some of their games in the past so I was excited to share these new ones with all of you too!

About the Games

Set-FCJ-Box_1

Five Crowns Junior Game

is a kid-style rummy that is fun for the whole family! This award-winning game has kids on a treasure hunt as they are on the lookout to match all five cards in their hand to earn treasure chips! Be the first player to match all five cards by either number or color and go out. Then each player gets one last turn to match what they can. Avoid earning Robby chips because that packrat wants to steal away all your treasure! The wild card for each round is a mystery until someone flips the extra-large wild card and reveals the magic crown. The player with the most treasure chips at the end of the five rounds wins!

Family Fun

Enjoy bridging the generational gap at your next family gathering by playing Five Crowns Junior. With easy to learn instructions, you will be able to include younger members of your family while still capturing the interest of everyone else. This game is a big hit for a reason!

My Take on the Game

This was fun. Both girls had a blast playing this and they loved being able to one up their old dad. The game was easy to understand and easy to start for both an 11 and 7.5 year old. While I have not played the adult version, this still was fun and really is for all ages!

set_junior_layout_1

is a two-sided game board kids can start to play as early as age 3! Side 1: Match your tile to a square on the board. Get a point chip for every SET made. Start to recognize SETs while matching color, number and symbols. Side 2: Now that you know what a SET is, it’s time to flip the board and have fun racing to find as many SETs as you can!

The inventor of SET has done it again! With new concepts built on the principles of the original game, Marsha, has geared SET Junior toward younger minds. SET Junior is two games in one box! It’s a two-sided board game designed to grow with the child.

Side one teaches matching using colors, shapes and numbers. The magic squares on the board have SETs in all directions and start to familiarize kids with what the different types of SETs look like. Players take turns matching their tiles to the corresponding squares on the board and collecting point chips for completing SETs. Once they have learned to identify SETs, kids can flip the board and race to find as many SETs as possible!

On side two of the board there are 10 squares where tiles are placed face up. When a player finds a SET they shout “SET” and remove the SET from the board, scoring one point. The dealer replaces the three tiles and the fun continues. There are no turns and no luck in this game. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

What is a SET?

Each tile contains three features, symbol (oval, squiggle or diamond), color (red, purple or green) and number (one, two or three). A SET is three cards where each feature, when looked at individually, is either all the same OR all different.

My Take on the Game

This was a great game to work on things like colors, counting, shapes and matching. We found that side one of the game was a bit easier to comprehend for my 7.5 year old than side 2, but both sides eventually came across to her and she was able to comprehend this. Having two ways to play the game was also fun for her and she loved trying out both sides!

Giveaway

How would you like to win this for yourself or for your family? All you need to do is fill out the below form to be entered.  The contest will run for one week and will end on September 7, 2015.

Marbles ( @TheBrainStore) Challenges You To Continually Learn

February 13, 2014 by dadofdivas Leave a Comment

Marbles: The Brain Store

 photo disclaimer_zpsaa1cb05b.jpg

The older I get the more that I know that I have to continually challenge my mind to stay active and keep thinking about bigger and better things. The more I think analytically and challenge myself, I find the more benefits that it provides me in other ways too.

This is something that I continually want to challenge my own daughters to do as well and a new company that I just learned about is doing just that. Marbles: the Brain Store, offers products that challenge your brain to think harder and deeper, as well as to see the world around you in new and unique ways.

In looking through the site there are so many gifts and items for yourself that are too cool and make me want to go on a shopping spree, but alas, I find myself restraining. That being said though, I have talked in the past about the fact that my daughters are smarties and are sometimes even too smart and clever for even themselves. With that in mind I knew that I could find find gifts for my Clever Kids and with my youngest daughter coming soon, I wanted to find just the right gift that would be a ton of fun, but would also challenge her as well.

That being said I seared through the pages of Marbles: the Brain Store, and found a game (our family loves family game night) called Rush Hour that looked like a fun game with a lot of learning potential.

rush hour collectors editionWhile the game may not look like much, it is a blast to play and centers around using the game cards to set up the board and then moving the cars around the board to help the red car escape the Rush Hour that you have on the board itself. It requires you to think, but also gives you a great sense of satisfaction when you bring the car out of the board. Both my girls loved this game, even my 5.5 year old. It is a one player game for the most part, but you can always ask for help or take turns between rounds too. I put together a short video to give you a sense of the game itself.

This was a great game and one that I know that my family and I will be using for a long time to come…I just hope that we can get new card packs in the future possibly!

If you have never checked out this website/company I highly encourage you to do so and see all of the cool items that they have. Marbles: The Brain Store is a company that has things that you will not find in stores and it will definitely be a store that I will come back to again in the future.

Best of all, right now Marbles: The Brain Store is offering Free Shipping with any purchase!
