About the Game
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment just launched Scribblenauts Mega Pack, a new collection of two hit titles featuring upgraded versions of Scribblenauts Unlimited and Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, including new content for both titles. The game is available now for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®4 Pro, and the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X with a MSRP of $39.99.
Scribblenauts Unlimited features a huge, side-scrolling open world with high-definition, hand-drawn scenery and objects. Players help the game’s hero, Maxwell, solve robust puzzles and challenges by summoning objects as varied as “colossal hoverbus” and “microbial fire tornado.” Scribblenauts Unlimited has been updated with two new bonus levels, supports online sharing of user-created objects, includes an updated two-player mode, and features the easy-to-use “sunflower” style text entry system.
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure melds the boundless creativity of Scribblenauts with thousands of DC characters and objects – all drawn in the distinctive Scribblenauts art style. In Maxwell’s imaginative and comical quest with DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, he must travel to iconic DC locations such as GOTHAM CITY™, METROPOLIS™, ATLANTIS™ and two new bonus locations, TITANS TOWER – under attack by the formidable demon Trigon, and BELLE REVE – the base of operations for Task Force X. Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure has also been updated with hundreds of new DC characters, objects and costumes, such as Sun Boy, Wonder Dog and El Dorado and is sure to delight and surprise ardent DC fans.
Scribblenauts Unlimited and Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure are rated E10+ with Cartoon Violence & Comic Mischief.
My Take on the Game
Publisher Warner Bros. Entertainment did a stellar job at combining both Scribblenauts Unlimited and Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure – and packaged them together in the Scribblenauts Mega Pack. The creative mix of puzzle solving, exploration and platforming has always shined brightest on Nintendo platforms (Unlimited debuted on Wii U and 3DS, after all) and now Switch users get to put their own imaginations to good use.
This game brings in games that you have known and loved for some time. Scribblenauts Unlimited still represents the series at its best. The story is solid and the gameplay can last for a very longtime depending on the player themselves. follows the adventures of Maxwell and his sister Lily, who are bestowed with a magical notebook and an equally mysterious globe by their adventurous parents. The pad enables the user to create anything by writing its name inside, while the globe has the power to whisk you anywhere in the world. However, when Maxwell plays a trick on a gnarled old man, his sister finds her feet have turned to concrete. Now it’s up to our red-helmeted hero to head out into the world and use a collectible resource called Starites to help free her.
The game allows you to control Maxwell completely and if you need to get creative and draw wings on something to let it fly, you can! The great thing about the unlimited game is that there is no limit to how you can solve a problem. Well… you can’t use brand names or anything adult-oriented, but I have to say kudos for the flexibility that the game does offer.
The Mega Pack also comes with Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, a sequel that builds on the approach to creativity perfected in Unlimited and throws in 2,000 DC characters for good measure. Much like LEGO DC/Marvel games, the developer did a great job at bringing in what makes these heroes and villains timeless and weaved it into the Scribblenauts universe. Now you can visit Gotham City, Metropolis and more as you utilize everything from Batman’s batarangs to Doctor Fate’s helmet to solve all manner of comic capers. As a comic book fan, this was an amazing add-on and definitely something that I loved having for myself!
