The Light The Night Walk is a fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), which brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, and shine a light on the importance of our mission to find cures and provide access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
I know too many who have had or have been affected by this disease and it needs to STOP! The challenge is having enough money to be able to make a difference to combat, research and find a cure!
This walk allows friends, families and co-workers to form fundraising teams, and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening walks in nearly 200 communities each fall across North America, featuring illuminated lanterns – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to a blood cancer.
Funds raised through The Light The Night Walk:
The funds raised by Light The Night participants help advance more breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients. Recently, thanks to campaigns like Light The Night, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved an LLS-funded targeted therapy for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Be a Champion for patients
Light The Night participants raise an average of $240 nationally to support the fight against blood cancers. Be a Champion For Cures by raising $100 or more and receive a commemorative Light The Night t-shirt, a wristband for refreshments at the event, and our exclusive illuminated lantern for the walk.
Raise $1,000 or more to become a member of our Bright Lights Club, which raised more than $18 Million last year in support of our mission.

After sponsoring The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walks in 2013, Sylvan Learning is proudly expanding its relationship as a Special Friend of LLS in 2014.
This year, Sylvan Learning aims to raise more than $250,000 to support the LLS mission through fundraising at its 800 Sylvan Learning franchise locations, as well as through participation in Light the Night Walks across the country.
Sylvan franchisees, employees and customers are advancing the LLS mission through monetary support, as well as direct role in the lives of children and families affected by blood cancers. After receiving treatment for leukemia or lymphoma, the journey back to a healthy life can be a long one. Sylvan is lending support to young patients as they return to school after treatment and, often, while they are still undergoing treatment.
Through the LLS partnership, Sylvan Learning is providing scholarship funding to young patients in need of educational services. In addition, local Sylvan Learning franchisees and LLS chapters will collaborate to identify and provide much-needed educational support to young patients in their communities.
