Five years ago the beloved toy store chain Brilliant Sky Toys & Books had the brilliant idea to cull through 10,000 high quality kids products that overflowed the shelves of their 17 locations and pick a few favorites. They dubbed them the Brilliance Awards. This year’s 2014 award list features 10 products that are surprisingly low tech. For the fifth year in a row, parents and grandparents alike can use this brilliant list as a guide for holiday shopping, birthday presents and Thanksgiving homecoming gifts.
The Brilliant Sky chain chooses its Brilliance Award Winners upon quality, the value of open-ended play and the simple beauty of a child’s fascination and delight. With the huge variety of toy buying occasions coming up, there’s truly something for everyone represented in this great group of toys. From finger puppets, arts & crafts kits, dolls and building bricks, it’s evident that childhood playtime really hasn’t changed that much!

My Take on the Store
This store is one that you have to love. Not only do they have amazing toys (which they do), but they also offer an ethic of care for the customer that you do not see usually at a big box store. Not only do they carry great brands like Melissa and Doug and so much more. From the moment that you walk into the store you get the feeling of family and that the employees truly care about you. Though this store was a little drive from where I live, I have to say that I wish that I had a store nearer to me as it was a blast and the kids loved seeing and trying out many of the toys. I got to try out the a few items from their store including the Loopdeloom, Lottie Dolls and Plus Plus. All of these items were so much fun. I could talk all day about the intricate detail in the Lottie Snow Queen Doll that my youngest played with or the cool Plus Plus bricks and how easily they go together to create fun things. I could mention that the Loopdeloom was the easiest loom I have used too and I believe if you have a child who may enjoy weaving, this is one that will bring success to any woven project. I could and will say all of these things, but want to make sure that I bring it back to say that all of these items and more unique items like these are found at Brilliant Sky Toys. This is what makes the store so unique, that, along with the personal service that you receive make the experience memorable, and make you want to come back in the future!
Brilliant Sky Toys & Books pushes children to learn and grow so much more than other stores I have come in contact with. Beyond the great customer service you get such a wide array of educational toys that challenge your child to think and learn and as a parent you know that these toys are of both high quality and high creativity. I highly encourage you to check this store out for yourself, you will not be disappointed!
