I have been wanting to go out to experience LA and the movie scene for a long time, but this is my first experience to jump in with both feet. I will be heading out west on July 16-19 on a trip to California thanks to Disney, Marvel, DreamWorks & ABC Family!
This is definitely not a vacation, but it is a break from reality. From what I have heard thus far, I will be constantly on the go with a home base of the Universal Sheraton Hotel. I am awaiting a better understanding of my schedule, but we will be screening movies, having a gourmet cooking lesson, meeting cast members and more!
I will be screening three movies: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, DreamWorks’ The Hundred-Foot Journey and Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. I’ll also get the opportunity to see some clips from another upcoming Disney film, Big Hero 6. We also will be exploring the ABC Family shows Mystery Girls starring Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth and Young & Hungry. Make sure that you follow the hashtag #ABCFamilyEvent to be in the know about the TV shows.
While I am excited about everything else, the highlight of the trip for me has to be that I will be attending the Guardians of the Galaxy press junket where I will have a chance to interview some of the cast. I don’t know who will be there yet, but surprises are nice! Want to see more during the event, follow the hashtag #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent.
I have been a Guardians fan for a while, and while it is not the biggest of Marvel comics, it was always fun and I am excited to see how they adapt it into a movie.
Another Disney movie that we will be screening is The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Helen Mirren. On top of seeing the movie, we just found out that we will also be getting a cooking lesson at the world famous Le Cordon Bleu Los Angeles! With the fact that the movie revolves around cooking, this is a great tie-in and one that I am looking forward to. The only thing I hope is that I do well in my cooking prowess and represent men well!
I am a big fan of Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner and my kids are a big fan of the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, so my kids were a bit jealous when I told them that I was going to get to screen this movie quite a bit before it comes out. I think that she will be jealous that I am getting to see the movie so early.
I mentioned that I would also get the chance to see some of Big Hero 6, well, I will also be able to meet some of the filmmakers, which will be a ton of fun as well.
Finally, to the ABC Family shows I mentioned earlier, Mystery Girls and Young and Hungry. I watched the pilots last week for both of these and they seem quite funny, so I am excited to be able to tour the set of Mystery Girls as well as meet Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth.
More details of my trip seem to be coming out daily. I know that I will be tired at the end of this, but I am excited and I hope that you will follow along to watch and experience all of the fun. So follow along with myself and the other 25 bloggers that will be attending. You can learn more by following the hashtags: #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent, #100FootJourneyEvent and #ABCFamilyEvent .
