Our 393rd Dad in the Limelight is author David Adler. I want to thank David for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing him with all of you.
1) Tell me about yourself, (as well as how you are in the limelight for my readers knowledge)
I love to write. I taught math for many years in a New York City public school.
2) Tell me about your family
I am the second of six children and I am still close to my siblings. I have been married for many years to Renee, a psychologist. We have three sons and four grandsons.
3) What has been the largest challenge you have had in being a father?
Setting a good example for them.
4) What advice would you give to other fathers?
Be positive with your children, not negative. Try to mostly tell them what they are doing that you think is right, not what they are doing that you consider to be wrong.
5) Seeing that you (or your position) are in the limelight, how have you come to balance parenthood and outside life? If you are currently not in the limelight per se, please still answer this in regards to how you balance parenthood and outside life.
I am fortunate that I love my work. My work schedule is flexible so the balance of responsibilities has been easy.
6) What have you learned from the fathers that you have interacted with?
My dad made each of his six children feel loved.
7) What else would you share regarding your experiences as a father thus far?
I have learned that I have to live my life and allow my children to live theirs.
8) What have been the most memorable experiences that you have had thus far as a parent?
I could not possibly narrow that down to just one memorable experience.
If you have any questions for David, please leave a comment here and I will make sure that he gets them so that he may be able to respond!
