Our 317th Dad in the Limelight is Casey Peterson . I want to thank Casey for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing him with all of you.
I married the girl next door! Literally. We grew up next door to each other. My wife, Michelle, has been my best friend for many years more than we’ve been “together.” I have 2 beautiful daughters (9 and 5 years old) and just had our first son.
My friend Ted Rubin made a comment recently – it’s about the moments, not the days. I’m going to expand on that and say it’s not about the activities, the vacations, or any other “big” deal. Some of my best memories have been on vacation with my girls – but it wasn’t a theme park, or a restaurant, or an experience. It was the moments of being totally “there.” Totally engaged with them as humans. With them and myself totally open to each other. It took me awhile – but eventually I realized I didn’t have to spend a few thousand dollars on a trip to Disney World to have those times. I just had to shut my cell-phone off, and listen to them. Those are the moments I’ll remember forever. The connections.
